I have lived in the area for my whole life and I stumbled across your video. I love how you capture the essence of New haven...Old School Libbys and classic Louis....The thing with Louis that gets overlooked is that is exactly how you would have gotten the burger 100 years ago! Evene the beef blend is the same!
seeing you walk around the place i loved growing up is really cool. love the old new haven vibe! its so odd seeing all these classic staples through the eyes of someone who is visiting a first time. also local's say Louies lunch!
NH--where I'm from. Important point: 'apizza' is not pronounced like two words. It's pronounced as such: "abeetz." My French teacher in HS who was from Italy said it came about by accident, as native Italians referred to American pizza as it is written in the US: "a pizza," only they pronounced it the way Italians would, hence it came to be known as "abeetz." Also, the NH'ers I knew who called it 'abeetz' (it's not universal there) also pronounced soda as "soder." 🙃
We also stayed at that hotel, but the check-in process was rough. It took forever for our room to be ready same with another person sitting in the waiting area. We had paid for early check-in… we left our bags at the front and went to Sally’s.
Too bad you went to the wrong ice cream shop. Ashley's is dog friendly and would have put a picture of Pika on the wall after he eats his pupcup. Named after a famous frisbee-catching dog, 40 plus years of business, award winning for decades and a Yale partner we would have been SO grateful to be on your tour. Maybe next time. Great video BTW
Ma'am Lois Lunch invited the hamburger sandwich as we know it. Yes, of course "hamburger" comes from Germany. Hamburger is just another German way of saying BEEF ... Yes Lois Lunch basically invited the American "hamburger" or "cheeseburger".
The second worst place to be in America after Detroit. Yes their YALE and pizza but your paying a premium for that . People from New Haven are worse than New Yorkers they are so rude . New Haven gives out such a bad vibe if your not around Yale campus

What's crazy to me is how people rate food on flavor and not on nutrition.
