      There's so much! I grew up and still live in Massachusetts. What are you interested in and when would you like to visit? Autumn is beautiful, Christmas is magical but can fluctuate from warmish to frigid (I've seen 50° one day and 2 days later it's 10°!). Summer is wonderful and everyone spends time outside in nature. Winter, January through March is awful and don't recommend for tourism. We get Nor'easters, a weather pattern found only in new england and sometimes reaches canada. Its an actual hurricane of snow and ice, it always brings in frozen temps that freezes everything. April is our big Patriots day celebration. There's tons of historical events and parties all through spring, summer and fall.

I usually go around October 1-14. But check the foliage report. October 1 will still be fairly green but sometimes I’ve gone just bc that is when I had the time! Conneticut is GREAT later in October too and lasts longer if you can’t go around October 8-14 time.

      Yes it will be way past peak in the white mountains by that point. Coastal Maine should still be all right though. Pretty much all of New England will be done at this late in the season. The traffic is very crowded and the northern areas like Crawford Notch and Smugglers Notch are often past peak, especially this year as the holiday is late (12th to 14th). Come the weekend before if you can. It will be much more enjoyable. Otherwise, if you have to, plan on coming EARLY Friday morning and not leaving until LATE Monday. North 93 will be a logjam at the Hooksett tolls by noon Friday all the way north.

      Can do in around 7 days. If you have less time I recommend JUST doing Vermont and New Hampshire if you only have a long weekend or like 4 days. Then if you have a bit longer, I would add in Connecticut! And then a bit longer than that I would add in Portland!

      Probably going to be a bit late for most of the places on this list BUT will be amazing for Connecticut! And Connecticut is one of my fave places for foliage ever and super underrated. I recommend checking online foliage maps bc each year is diff, but usually will be gone by that time. Maybe southern Vermont will be okay!

      It will be late in the season I’m not going to lie. I still highly recommend Connecticut as I showed in my video here that should still be great! I’ve often spent 2 weeks there around end of October. I recommend looking at the foliage calculator as well. Last year I went to Alexandria Virginia and DC too right after around this time and it had a great vibe!

      You could do the trip in 10 days if you keep a tight schedule of skip some spots such as Portland! Or even less if you only have a few days. Drive to NH and do 3 days and then 2-3 in Stowe.

    If you’re in Franconia, a moderate hike to Lonesome Lake is worth it. There’s a lake on top of the mountain facing the notches you’d see on the left of Artist Bluff. I wish I could post pictures. The reflection of the mountains in the lake is so beautiful.

    • @FollowMeAway

      Usually the second week is good! But it depends every year I would look at the foliage trackers and see!! if you are later (2nd week) I would highly recommend going down to Connecticut for your trip because that is usually when they have the best foliage (if you are seeing it’s too late elsewhere)

      It depends and changes every year!! This is all taken around October 5-20 with the New Hampshire part being taken at the October federal holiday. In 2022 the leaves were incredible on that weekend and in 2023 they were falling a bit. Just depends on tons of things like weather sunlight bugs etc! Check foliage calendars online!

    • @robertthompson9643
      @robertthompson9643 Месяц назад

      Leaves will start to fall earlier on older trees or in areas more exposed to the elements. Some varieties like red maples also turn earlier than the oak and birch trees.

    Completely skipped Massachusetts. The drive on Route 43 below Williamstown is super. And why Mystic? It has nothing to do with autumn? But the drive south on Route 7 from West Cornwall along the Housatonic River is as good as you can find.
    And bridges were covered to keep the rain from rotting the wooden planks that made up the bridge floor. Ice was not the primary reason for covering the bridge.
    Spent too much time on places to eat rather than the sights.
