I realize that I am writing this one year after this original aired, but I feel compelled to say that as a Connecticut native, you guys did an excellent job of covering most of everything Connecticut has to offer. Excellent job! Perhaps the only detail that was left out was that Connecticut also offers many bucolic dairy pastures and produce farms with breathtaking scenic vistas, as well as more than a few quaint small New England towns scattered throughout the state. The most important fact is that you both have shown is that CT is SO much more than a "pass through" state on I-95. You two are wonderful travel guides, you are both seem to enjoy each other, and enjoy life together, and as such, are a joy to watch!
The best video on Connecticut I have ever seen. Most travel people totally ignore Litchfield County. I live north of the town of Litchfield , and was a little disappointed you didn’t mention all the beautiful mansions on North and South streets. Great video can’t wait to watch your other vids.
Most of us Nutmeggers don't even realize how pretty our state is until we have visitors from elsewhere who just ooohhh and ahhhh when we drive along an every day average twisting road.
You guys were the reason we took a family vacay to San Luis Obispo last year and we’re doing CT in the fall for leaf peeping season. You do such an amazing job with the attention to detail where you visit. Keep up all this awesomeness.
I'm glad you get had a chance to explore our forest. Some of our forests in Connecticut are quite old. The older the forest the more beautiful they are. Also our trail system is rated number one in the United States and are well maintained through Connecticut forest and park.
I live in Connecticut, born and raised. It's a beautiful state, there's a lot to see and we are close to NYC and Boston for day trips...love our state!!! And we do have the best pizza!!!! Great video. All the best.
People always dunk on Connecticut for not being cool and I don't know why. It looks amazing to me. So much of that New England natural beauty, gorgeous architecture, etc.
CT blogger here - this is an excellent list! Connecticut has no shortage of amazing hikes, delicious eateries and cultural attractions. I haven't tried their ice cream, but the Arethusa Cafe is one of the best in the state. I like how you stayed away from the tourist traps for New Haven style pizza. 🙌
I was born and (mostly) raised in Connecticut, and the Mystic Seaport has always been one of my favorite places. Just walking around there gives you a glimpse of a way of life which has largely disappeared. Another thing worth noting is the ruggedness of the terrain once you get off the beaten track; between the rocks, the forest and the winter weather you wonder how anybody ever managed to farm there.
Born and raised in CT and I love , how you brought a new prospective on travel , especially in my hometown state. Thanks for your up load ! CT stand up and give them love! Great job .. Shout out to everyone else out there who will see this ! Shout out your state . Love your channel & content!
The Northeast has the best of all worlds in my opinion. Even though it tends to be crowded, we have amazing natural beauty. The best transportation. The best suburbs that don't really sprawl. I'm not down grading other parts of the nation, because all parts are beautiful, even Florida!!!😅
@@deanchapman1824The best transportation? It takes an hour to go 15 miles. Why are you dissing Florida when most of us flee here to go to Florida aka the best state.
As someone born and raised in Fairfield County and who moved to the middle of the state but travels all over CT, you really showed the details many overlook. Arethusa's ice cream shop and farm fresh restaurant usually dont get recognition from travelers. Yale has the Peobody museum, and the Beineke rare book and manuscript library too thats also worth seeing. Gillette castle was built around the dragon. The dragon head is where smoke came out from the chimney, the claws, spiny back and tail are around the sides of the castle. The reason for the rough sides is for the dragon scales.
Love the video! As a local, it’s amazing to see all that you did. I also work for the Mohegan Tribe so it was 1. Great to see you stay at our casino, and 2. I wanted to add a bit of indigenous history you missed. Specifically, “Devil’s Hopyard” is one of many locations of cultural importance to indigenous people of the area. Originally, the story was that the Giant, Moshup, became so angry that his feet turned fiery red hot and he walked from the Martha’s Vineyard area, west across New England. Where he stepped, he left imprints, such as those found at what’s now known as Devils Hopyard. When early settlers arrived, they attributed many indigenous stories to the occult/demonic origins. Hence changing many names of local indigenous sites to “devil” instead of “Moshup” and retold indigenous people’s stories involving the devil instead. Love the video, but wanted to share this information for anyone interested. 😊
@juliarathbun2185 - I love the 'extra' history; thank you for sharing it.😊 I'm in Massachusetts (lots of history here, too), two towns away from the border in the Interstate 91 area, and hop on down to CT every once in a while.
CT resident, we do take excellent care of our state parks. There’s lots of other great hiking to do as well. I’d recommend Lions Head and Bear Mountain in Salisbury, Enders Falls in Granby, and Talcott Mountain in Simsbury.
As a Connecticut native, I so appreciate how well you presented my home state. I am an avid hiker and I've always thought we have some of the most beautiful trails (and I lived in Hawaii for 12 years!). Thank you again, for a wonderful video!! 🙏🥰💞
I’m really happy that I’ve found you guys! Thank you for sharing your hiking spots, local food and history with us! It’s nice to see so many places exist to explore and I’m looking forward to traveling and hiking to several locations that you have shown us😊
I've lived in CT since 2006 and I must say that you did very well. I was especially impressed with your choice of Zuppardi's. The only choice that I think could use improvement is the lobster roll spot. Any decent Connecticut resident knows that Abbot's is the place to go!!!
Next time through.... visit Hubbard Park. You can walk, hike or drive up to Castle Craig. But keep an eye out for the black dog of The Hanging Hills! Our friend an historian Justin Piccirillo wrote a book about the history of Hubbard Park. The book is sold on Amazon and Barnes & None.
CT born and raised. I love our little state. I’ll never live anywhere else (except maybe Vermont)! The hot summers and cold snowy winters are all worth it when October comes.
Your video makes me wanna leave Florida and go on a trip to CT to escape the heat! Gorgeous. So many cool things in Rhode Island if you ever go back. My wife is from there and took me around for clam cakes and chowder (Aunt Carries is a must visit, Iggys is great too), State House and WaterFire festival
The historic ships were amazing. When I visited Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI (just outside of Detroit), I noticed the beds in the homes of this Revolutionary period village were quite short. When I inquired of the docent, she explained that early Americans were much shorter than they are today. James Madison, the nation's fourth president, was only 5'4". For architecture fans, New Canaan is home to the landmarked Glass House designed by the late Philip Johnson, who was a professor of architecture at Yale. Though he built the house for himself, the building is now open for public tours.
U did so good. Zuppardis, the clam pie, … the commentary on the three big pizza places… going to Ted’s, the commentary on the steamed cheese…. U paid lovely tribute and gave us a real try. Never seen you before but loved this vid. Will check out others. Love it. :)
Hi Happy couple! I'm always very happy to see you Katheryn and Adam🙋connecticut is beautiful! You always do wonderful job! May God be with you wherever you go🙏
As a New Havener, I don't think it's a big deal which spot you got your apizza from. Zuppardi's is highly regarded. The whole "rivalry" between the pizza shops is overblown. I'm just glad you got some Foxon Park birch beer! Reminds me of when you got birch syrup in Alaska. Did they taste similar?
We agree! We're sure you can't go wrong with any of the apizza shops! We hate these highly opinionated foods because no matter what we pick, people come at us and tell us we picked wrong 😂 It tasted different! The birch water was like slightly sweet water, but this definitely tasted more root beer-y.
Bummed you didn't get to experience more of Rhode Island! It's such a beautiful state and there is so much to do. As a native Rhode Islander now in Boston, I'm looking forward to your Massachusetts video!
I love how you show us all the beauty in each state. Some of us have not been lucky enough to visit these locations. Now we can have an idea of what we are missing. Thanks for another great video. 🙏🌻🐕🥰
Connecticut has many amazing things that are close by. Within 30 minutes you could go from hiking in the woods to world famous pizza in New Haven, right near famous Yale University. BTW, concerning "firsts", the first person to fly did it in Bridgeport Connecticut, by the name of Gustave Whitehead, who did it in 1901 in front of 10 eyewitnesses. Back to natural beauty is the Connecticut coastline, and if course Route 7 which we travel every year for the foliage and stop off for a big dinner and stay overnight up there. Another btw, is Connecticut's Wine Trail, I think Connecticut has 13 Vineyards, some of which have their own restaurants. Really, a nice, nice area.
Trying to get caught up to these A+K videos... This videos got variety; really like the hikes for scenic views, the Yale library and old shipyard and then the food; ice cream, burgers and pizza as the reward. Eat and go..
I was in Connecticut for two months in Summer 2022. Loved the apizza. I tried a seafood pizza with shrimp and clams and then a classic with just the sauce and romano cheese. I loved the cracker like crusts! I love you guys' videos. You all are the only van/travel channel I still watch. You like and do the same things I enjoy -day hikes and nature, national parks, local food spots and off the beaten path local attractions. The only difference is I'm not a coffee drinker. Keep up the great work!
Oh man we looooved the apizza! Still one of our favorite types of pizza. We're glad we share lots of the same interests! Thank you and thanks for watching!
To Europeans, we always think US food sizes are big and know to get a small, but those ice creams were on a whole new level! I dread to think what their large sizes were like! Where I grew up, there's an open air museum that reminds me of the Seaport museum as like the one in Connecticut, the buildings used to exist in a real-world scenario and they were taken down brick by brick and rebuilt at the museum. My mum would always tell me one of the old Victorian terrace houses in the 'town' part was the home of a kid she taught.
That ice cream scoop was off the charts! I think they would just hand over the bucket if you asked for a large 😂 We love those kind of museums! We've really enjoyed being around stuff that is as old as it gets here in the US! But it doesn't compare to how old buildings are where you are!
No need to apologize for not recording a video in Rhode Island. We appreciate all the extra effort you put into sharing your travels, and you’re allowed a day off camera whenever you want. Thanks for sharing!
As a Connecticut native I really enjoyed this video. You did a good job at kind of sampling the whole state. The gorgeous mountains and waterfalls, the food (Arethusa Farm is my favorite ice cream. Raspberry is my favorite flavor). I've actually never had a steamed burger and I've lived here my whole life lol. And Mystic was a great place to go for history, also. Too bad you didn't get to check out the aquarium. I think they're one of only 6 aquariums in the country that have beluga whales. Imo you should have gotten pizza at Pepe's. lol. But yeah, Connecticut is a beautiful state and a lot of people don't realize it because they don't go out in nature. Even in the winter I like to go on hikes and to see waterfalls. I even get ice cream at Arethusa in the winter. Summer is still my favorite season here, though. And yeah, it's a bummer that you didn't get to make a RI video, but that's what the weather is like there a lot of the time. It can change on a dime, too.
I threw hiked the 50 miles of AT in CT in 2013 into MA and recognize a lot of your hike. Need to go back to re hike through Sages Ravine on a weekend trip out and back.
My wife and I just did a New England road trip two months ago and while in Mystic don't neglect going up the road to Groton and visiting the USS Nautilus, the world's first nuclear powered sub, and it's free. We did spend a day in Newport, RI and it was wonderful and well worth a whole day touring mansions and walking down by the sea.
Hey...we live in Kent and walk doggie at the Falls pretty much every evening. Glad you made Arethusa! We are just loading our new van...see you on the road!
Loved the video. Stamord, CT native here. Once you said you're an almond person, and the fact that you got the sweet cream too. Just yes!! My kind of person!!
Looks like a lot of fun places to visit that we don’t think about when you think Connecticut. Thanks for finding those spots! When you make it to Iowa we recommend going to the Grotto in West Bend, IA and the Community apple orchards in Fort Dodge for the apple dumplings and ice cream- they melt in your mouth😃
all of the youtubers never do RI justice. I watched you and another one today and because it rained they too skipped a ton of things to do. It is unfortunate that all who do not live there think that Newport and Providence are the only "go to" places in the state.....y'all miss so much. You need to go back and enjoy the smallest state in the Union - one with a rich history and great food.
Another CT Native here, seeing this a year later. Ragged Mountain is in my town. You did a great job highlighting us, and I like how you included hiking, eating, and history of CT, something for everyone! You do have to come back for the ACTUAL best view in CT from the top of Bear Mountain on the A.T. Cheers!
"Put the pie in ya face toots!" Adam has a future as a New England Italian for sure haha! Born and raised in CT and you guys made me want to go out and explore more. Its so easy to downplay or forget about the beauty that can be in your own backyard. Thank you for the awesome content, every time I see a new video my day gets better. Keep up the great work!
We were hoping you went to Frank Pepe’s! Let’s just say we found a place to park with the trailer, the super long paddles were fun to watch, and the pizza was great. That was our one Connecticut stop. Thanks for all the videos, try Pepe’s next time.
I'm so glad you came to my home stare. The kids and I were thrilled to watch your video. Next time you're in New Haven, you should definitely try Modern, Sally's, and Frank Pepes. They're all amazing.
If you haven't made it to Iowa yet, he won't want to miss Maquoketa caves state park. It's beautiful! Some other suggestions are the Field of Dreams, Buddy Holly crash site, and American Pickers, though you're both young, you will still appreciate these.
Iowa will be our 50th state and we have big plans for it! 🚴♂️🚴♀️. We won’t have our van so we’ll be very limited to where we can go, but we’d love to visit again to see some of the spots you mentioned one day! Thanks and thanks for watching!
great video as always guys! i definitely needed some ideas on things to do/eat in CT....as a new york style pizza lover, the "apizza" looked even better....looking forward to the MA vlog! cheers! :)
Just found your channel and subscribed. I'm a New England girl and love seeing places I've been to and some I haven't but will be after seeing this. Please come back to RI...so much here for a small state!
Hey guys, it's Carol from RI. Did you guys go on the Madeleine in Newport? I love that sunset cruise. I'm sorry it was so foggy and I hope you do come back one day. It's very beautiful here when the weather is right. I do hope you also went to Cape Cod in mass. It's the best place. Loved the CT part... it truly is gorgeous. Some people just don't know about the best places to see in New England. I'm glad you were able to check out that amazing waterfall. You guys are always very informative and I think Adam would love the history part of Fort Adam's State Park.. Did you get to go there in RI?
We sailed on the Aquidneck with Sightsailing. We hope we can redeem our time in RI and Newport one day (including Fort Adams)! We did visit Cape Cod off camera and it was a ton of fun!
Hey! Welcome back to New England! I live about a mile from CT and am discovering a lot of beauty there that you don’t see from the aggressively driven highways. A lot to explore. I can’t wait to see what you focus on in my home state of MA. Clearly Boston, hopefully the Cape, but so much to see outside of the metro area. Safe travels!
Wow 😮 So much packed into this wonderful episode! Trails, Waterfalls, Yale, Apizza and a Castle! Connecticut looks absolutely amazing! I was waiting for that food item that would be "pillowy" enough for Adam 😂 Then, and then...you went to Mystic!! Mystic Pizza was such a favorite of mine! Sorry about Rhode Island, the sunset looked beautiful though. I love all the history you gave here. I agree with Katherine, Yale does remind me of Hogwarts 😊 Great episode 👏 👍 😊
You are sure doing a great job sharing with us what all our United States has to offer! When the hubby retires, I would like to drive through New England and you have provided some great places to visit! Your CT stops were gorgeous! Great drone videos!
Hey guys! We live in Austin, but I grew up in CT. and left in 99'. I had NO idea much of this even existed...lol. We're headed back up there for the week of the 4th and definitely hitting Rand's trail, thanks for the head's up and keep up the great videos. Maybe we'll see you around Austin!

I think they would just hand over the bucket if you asked for a large 😂
We love those kind of museums!
It looks like a lot of their Connecticut visit was overcast as well. Which may have been a blessing, if it kept the heat down during those hikes.
Enjoyed this one a lot, but the end with Kona having a blast was the best.
FANTASTIC video…loved all the humor and beauty and the food looked AWESOME! CT looks amazing! ❤
Fun video, beautiful landscapes. I was going you would through in a Gilmore Girls reference when you were at yale. It is beautiful.
Welcome to Mystic!!! I love you guys and here you are in my town!! Enjoy...
Next time check out Macedonia State Park Blue 🔵 trail
Thanks, Scott!
Great video. The only things Id add would be perhaps visiting the Mark Twain House in Hartford and maybe Sleeping Giant State Park.
Kona frolicking at the end was precious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love CT....lived there long ago. Mile for mile, one of our most surprising states
all of the youtubers never do RI justice.
We agree there is tons to do in RI. We had crummy weather and limited time unfortunately. We’ll be back one day.
Zuppardi's is the greatest! I grew up in West Haven and that was dinner every Friday.
That sausage pizza is the best.
My face lights up when I see a new video from yall! Yay!
Cheers!
Would love to come back one day! We loved CT! Thanks and thanks for watching!
😂😂 just wait til you see our next video!
We had a blast in CT! Thanks and thanks for watching!
I agree completely- I've tried both types of lobster rolls and I like them both.
We were hoping you went to Frank Pepe’s! Let’s just say we found a place to park with the trailer, the super long paddles were fun to watch, and the pizza was great. That was our one Connecticut stop. Thanks for all the videos, try Pepe’s next time.
Even with all the cool stuff you’ve seen through your travels, I love how excited you were to see the beautiful waterfalls and meadows!
I share this with my CT niece and she said y’all should’ve gone to Pepe’s for New Haven pizza. 😉
Great video, but it's the Apple-Lay-chian trail 😀
I'm so glad you came to my home stare. The kids and I were thrilled to watch your video. Next time you're in New Haven, you should definitely try Modern, Sally's, and Frank Pepes. They're all amazing.
If time, dollars, and calories were not issues we would've loved to have tried all the apizza spots in New Haven! We had a great time in CT!
@tommygogetter5992 very true
Wow, that's a very beautiful state.
You did great justice in showing off my home state....thank you....❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks and thanks for watching!
My father was born near Kent Falls..i was there several times and i always enjoyed the beauty of it
It's an awesome spot!
You should see Kent Falls when the snow is melting! Amazing
I bet!
Excellent job, you two! I'm from CT, and I'm sending this to my classmates, LHS '69!
Loved the video! I had no idea Connecticut was so beautiful! My favorite part was the food too! Looked so good!
I grew up in the New Haven area - you guys MISSED OUT by skipping Sally's Apizza!!! I never even heard of the place you went 😂
Everyone has their favorite 😊 we knew Sally's and Frank Pepe were popular, but we wanted to try something different.
White birch and birch beer are wintergreen flavor, from the birch tree
My home state, and this vid is making me homesick. Thanks for your efforts.
great video as always guys! i definitely needed some ideas on things to do/eat in CT....as a new york style pizza lover, the "apizza" looked even better....looking forward to the MA vlog! cheers! :)
I love Frank Pepe's white clam pizza. The line is always crazy - but awesome. At least it is less busy there, we usually order and go eat in the park.
Great video. We saw you on the bike ride with Schoandjo.
We live across from Gillette Castle.
Very cool! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Glad you liked the state I live in :)
Thank you for showcasing our beautiful state! And New Haven pizza is the BEST! Great job! Also, your dog is one lucky pup!
Thanks for watching!
You are sure doing a great job sharing with us what all our United States has to offer! When the hubby retires, I would like to drive through New England and you have provided some great places to visit! Your CT stops were gorgeous! Great drone videos!
Cool video my Grandfather and grandfather helped to build Gillets castle they lived across the Ct river in Chester Ct The Lavazolli’s
What a pretty state it is. Glad you enjoyed
it reminds me of home past New Milford I used to live in Kent
Hey guys! We live in Austin, but I grew up in CT. and left in 99'. I had NO idea much of this even existed...lol. We're headed back up there for the week of the 4th and definitely hitting Rand's trail, thanks for the head's up and keep up the great videos. Maybe we'll see you around Austin!
We hope y'all have a great trip! If you see us around, please say hi!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Thanks, we absolutely will!
glad you got to the mystic seaport and the museum
