The "Abby Normal" line is one of the funniest jokes I've ever heard in a movie. Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman delivered their lines so flawlessly and in character.
I don’t know how many times I have quoted lines from this movie whether people got it or it went over their heads. Mel Brooks has always been and always will be a genius! I love him and every movie he has made. I love all the cast in this movie. Especially Gene, Madelyn, and Cloris! I hope Mel writes more movies like this! 🖤😻🖤🫶🏼🖤
Mel Brooks has outlived most of the great actors in this movie. It's hard to believe most of the actors are gone. Such a funny movie. I remember watching this as a kid when it first came out. Of course my mom who took me and my brothers to see the movie didn't like it , but she sat there with us and she laughed too, even though she said it wasn't her type of movie. Thank you for this great historic video.
Another Grimm Life Collective recommended place to visit on my list when I get to LA.I love the scenery and locations something about inspires creative ideas for me ..
Great movie, love Gene Wilder. It's odd that they would place the historical plaque on the alley wall instead of the front of the building. But it's great that they saved the facade for us nostalgic folk. 🖤 Thanks Michael, for "Puttin' On The Ritz!"
in my opinion this is the funniest movie ever made. so many hilarious one liners. sedagive ? could be worst - could be raining. the directing, the story, and most of all the actors. PERFECTION. thank you guys for this video. 🕷 🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN.
I absolutely love Young Frankenstein, so so funny, the cast ing for this movie was superb. One of my faves aswell. Love how they restored the front of the theatre. Thanks again Michael for another great vid. Happy Halloween 🎃🎃🎃
I love all this Hollywood nostalgia that you’ve been presenting to us. On a side note, Teri Garr’s brother (Dr. Ed Garr), was my wife’s podiatrist. Great guy, I used to go with her to his office in Orange County for her appointments. He had all of these crazy props (regarding feet, naturally) all over his office. One was a “toester” which was this toaster with these fake plastic toes coming out of it! 😂 I can’t remember the others but they were along that line. I would talk to him about her movie roles and he was very engaging and conversational. I really liked him a lot and my wife did too. I was sad to hear that he passed away a few years ago.
This is probably the millionth time you've heard this..BUT..! I genuinely enjoyed the podcast you guys did. It's not often that I let a video play and just go about work without getting bored with the dialogue or distracted. I was locked in. It was great to get to know you two on a different level and it made me appreciate your content even more. Anyway... I'll stop being cringe 😂
One of my favorite films! I’m so glad someone finally covered these locations. One of the Stickfaden electric apparatus is being put up on auction soon, along with part of Boyle’s monster costume!
This was great!! Young Frankenstein is a classic!!! I really appreciated this. Awesome job ghouls!!🎃 Madeline Kahn was an amazing talent. She was awesome as Elizabeth. Sad we lost her so soon. Gene Wilder was an icon. 🕊️❤️🙏
Such a wonderful and classic film. Definitely one of my favorites. A shame there’s only a facade of the theatre but I’m happy they have something at least! Hoping you and Jessica have a wonderful day today!💜
1 of my faves. You can never go wrong with Gene Wilder or a Mel Brooks directed film. Love when he's giving a lesson about the nervous system DEAD IS DEAD! 😂Then stabs himself in the leg
I love Mel's movies. Young Frankenstein and blazing saddles is hilarious. Hollywood is big on remakes but they definitely wouldn't remake Blazing Saddles😅. I have never watched 1 star wars movie because they're not my type plus pop culture and another great movie of his Spaceballs you get the gest of star wars lol. 1 of my faves that I think is underatted is Life Stinks I love it too. Basically any movie Mel has a hand in is hilarious
Yes! Great tribute to a great movie. We needed Jessica portraying Elizabeth - she's the perfect Madelin Kahn fill-in! Better yet - how about a dedicated Madelin Kahn video?
Isn't there a bench in central park dedicated to her I would love to see more about Madeleine Kahn It would be nice to see Peter Boyle a Gene Wilder's final resting place too ❤😢
Such an awesome movie. Mel Brooks is a comedic genius and too bad in today's society movies like this will never be made like they were again. Such an awesome video of locations you've found. Happy Halloween 🎃
Ohhhhh my goodness! I was just talking about that yesterday with my guy. How movies like this will never be made. How many movies that are made today get quoted by the audience. I can’t think of one. It’s sad! 😔
The theater Michael's showing about halfway through, (5:41) opened as The Santa Monica Opera House in 1911 and showed silent films. Then shortly after was renamed "Majestic" and remained "The Majestic" for many, many years. in 1973 it closed as a movie theater and became the "Mayfair Music Hall". It was on Santa Monica Blvd, just a little west of 3rd. St. in Santa Monica, CA. I used to go movies there quite a bit when I lived there in the late 50's, early 60's. Toward the end, it became pretty much run-down and catered to X-rated, low end movies. But back in the day, it was GREAT!!! Better days, those. Google it... it's interesting history.
Haha, awesome. I must have seen this movie 20 times, never gets old, never gets tired, just gets funnier every time I see it, "Super-Duper". Thank you!
Awesome movie! Young Frankenstein is one of my favorite movies. Thank you for sharing this another Grimm adventure. Hope you and Jessica have a blessed day. Love you guys.🥰❤️ Stay spooky and stay Grimm.🎃👻🧡🖤
My respect to Mel Brooks. He was a great film maker, and you Michael did an awesome presentation video. Loved that intro! Ps: I just got your notification! Thank you
My girlfriend and I just spent the other week in Los Angeles (I promised that If she accompanied me to NAMM that we'd spent the whole week exploring LA). And as we snuck around the Hollywood Hills and Santa Monica, I kept seeing fragments of scenes from your videos and it made me smile. Not to mention a whole lot of GTA5 game map areas as well, there was that too. Excellent video, classic movie that hasn't aged!
One of my favorite Mel Brooks movies! My favorite scene is Gene Hackman as the blind man! He was great in that short but funny role! Enjoyed the video!
Thanks for this one. I saw Young Frankenstein in a theater right after it was released. It made me laugh then and it makes me laugh now! Such a great comedy that pays homage to the many Universal Frankenstein movies. It’s one of my favorites of all time. ❤
One of my favorite movies .I miss Gene so much.He was fantastic in every movie he entertained us all in.There should be a statue of Mel brooks in Hollywood as well.Great comedians.🤌🏻
OMG, Young Frankenstein!... Mel Brooks's BEST, I think... Those old jokes still hold up, and dare I say it, I saw it when it first came out----- a large line went around the movie house. I love what you GriMMs did with the Black & White (Giggle!) Keep up the great line up the shot episodes, and happy Halloween..... :^)""""""""""""""""""
Great video Young Frankenstein is one of my favorite movies from back in the days when they made classic awesome movies Man I miss those You guys are are awesome love your videos and keep doing what you guys do 👍👍🙏🙏👏👏
Mel Brooks also created and wrote the first year of the “Get Smart” TV series with SNL’s Buck Henry. They came up with some great catch phrases that people still quote ("Missed it by that Much")!! And of all their silly gadgets, my favorite was Max’s Rotary Dial Shoe Phone (Mel Brooks’ idea)!! I never missed an episode when I was a kid… but I had to watch the first few years in Black and White, because we didn’t get a color TV set until 1968!! But it’s still a classic… and I remember the anticipation leading up to the episode when Max and Agent “99” got married!! Allegedly, CIA personnel went to the studio to inquire about the technology behind the “Cone of Silence” Max and the Chief used for secret conversations… and I would’ve loved to seen the dejected looks on their faces after being told “it’s only a fake prop”!! Supposedly, the CIA guys wouldn’t leave until their electronics engineer thoroughly inspected the prop!! (Mel Brooks = 1, CIA = 0… Priceless!!!)
Well done. 🙏 Happy to see that at least the facade still exists, amazed that it didn't suffer damage in the earthquake, and that they didn't demolish it too when they renovated the place. Still one of the best movies of my youth.
One of my favorite movies of all time (top 3) 'Young Frankenstein'! Thank You Mel Brooks & all the cast!! Thank You also Michael.... appreciate all your in-depth entertaining vlogs! Hi Jessica....
Learning that you do your videos without any script or voiceovers has given me a new level of appreciation for your videos and your gift of storytelling. Always love learning about these places in our own backyard!
Watched your interview on Talks from the Crypt. You guys were awesome, articulate, and you bounced off of each other so well without interrupting or talking over the other and the interviewer actually listened without interruption! Some things I learned that I did not know, I saw your passion for what you do, you're recognizing and understanding the part that each of you play in making it the success that it is, and that clearly you are enjoying the ride while you can and I'm glad that you are because, it really does go so fast, but mostly, thank you for bringing us all along with you on your journey! ❤
Great video Michael! I saw this movie on it's release in the theater, I was nine years old and already a horror movie geek, this movie made me laugh non stop, and it still does to this day. Thank you for bringing back great memories of my childhood.
That was my favorite movie, still is. My wife and I will still sit down and watch it for a movie night. What made that movie so great is the cast. You can tell they all had fun together on every scene... classic.
Hey 🤩Mike and Jessica?! How much you wanna bet Gene himself probably strolled right out front as you did, admiring that very face on the theatre?! Probably fair to say, he did! MAN, WOMAN I cannot thank you enough for showing me where that stuff happened! Gene and Mel were always strong influences on me!
A fantastically spooky and funny movie! And a great video Grimm Collective that gives the inside scoop on a great scene and respect for a great comedic actor. Once again, thank you so much!
Even Mel Brooks has said Young Frankenstein is his best; not funniest, but best film he's ever made.
