What a twist of fate...this is truly the real question in the biggest LA fires in history! Why did huge parts of LA burn down so easily, houses like they were made of paper!?
Wow! What an amazingly comfy video. I cant get enough vids about Laurel Canyon & the artists/musicians who lived and passed thru this iconic place. I was born in 1970 right as this era was drawing to a close but, the late 60s have always fascinated me & were the years my favorite music was made. Excellent video, cant get enough.

This is the earliest I've found a new video! I used to go to parties in that area, but not in Jim's era. Coldwater Canyon has a lot of old Hollywood stories and ghosts too.
Love your content Michael, both the subject matter & how you tell a story! I too love history & finding historical locations. In 1980, shortly after college, I had a freight train hopping adventure that took me through L. A. While wandering & randomly exploring skidrow, I stumbled across an iconic building that stunned me. While crossing a street I looked to the opposite side and saw the old Hardrock Cafe, looking exactly as it did on the inside & back cover of the bi-fold Morrison Hotel album by the Doors! It had long been one of my favorite albums of the era. I went inside & sat at the end of the horseshoe bar exactly where Morrison had sat approximately 10 years before. I ordered a beer & sat quietly soaking in the energy of that random photoshoot that ultimately led to the idea & forming of the famous Hardrock Cafe franchise. The men sitting around the bar could have passed for the folks in the photograph! It was a magical moment that affected me deeply! I went back a few years later with a friend & we spent the better part of the afternoon searching for it, to no avail. I later learned that it had been transformed into an Asian market. During the short stay, I spent a night in the old Baltimore Hotel that was later featured in the bad B-movie The First Power, a supernatural thriller with Lou Diamond Phillips. That was a creepy night indeed!

I just came upon this video. Laurel Canyon has caught my attention over the years. I have begun to do research on that part of L.A. Laurel Canyon has a very Elven feel. The energies have an ambiance that is other worldly. Frank Zappa's place hints at this with those amazing stairs and caves. I had no idea such a thing existed. I will look for your other videos. I like what you said about 'Information about Laurel Canyon will make your head spin. There is so much of it.' I am salivating.
I love the fact that I was born and raised in Los Angeles and have learned so much about its history from you and Jessica! This is so awesome! Much love and many blessings to you both! ❤❤❤ Also, as a side note, the owner of that house is such a jerk (sorry, not sorry). He had no right to scream at you, knowing very well you were on public property... 🙄😒😑
There are mistakes in this video. There were no parties at Frank Zappa's log cabin. He only lived there four months. It was more like living in a monastery as he worked every waking moment and we tip-toed round him.
Awesome work..... Nobody does it better than you Micheal. As you say I wish I was here alive with all these musicians back in the day I thought the same thing watching this and always have. Bravo 👏🏼

Stopped at the Country Store. Barney's Beanery was another stop on my list. Their Club sandwich can feed 4. All the rock clubs ! Gazzari's, Whiskey , Troubadour. Thanks Grimmlife. Brought tears to my eyes. Turn 60 in a couple weeks.
Every time I watch a GLC video I know I'm going to be educated and entertained. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you SO much for this video!! My husband and I were there in January/Febraury this year and had to cut our trip short because of the impending storms. I wanted to see Jim and Pam’s house and the Country store and Laurel Canyon. I am so happy to see them with you guys!! Hopefully we will get back next year. I enjoy your videos, but this one is a new favorite. Hello from Missouri.
I remember seeing the Stevie interview with Jim Ladd in his house on RUclips. Thanks for posting this
I absolutely love your videos! Specially when it's about real crime scene or a place where tragedy happened, anything spooky and creepy.
Handled that like a gentleman. Wonderful video as always!!!!!!
We love you Michael, f you keep reading that from me or keep hearing me talk about your previous video then please dont be annoyed, i still havent recovered from your last video and its something i will be talking about in the years to come, you have earned my total respect after what you did in your previous video, i stilldont know how you managed to walk to the end of the tunnel on your own, not only on your own but you did that so calmly, no rush, i had to share that video with all my friends, they were all impressed, people can call you crazy all thy want but none of them understand how much guts it takes, times like this i wish i bumped into you when you was in the UK, i would of screamed like a girl to see yo, especially after your last video, you truely moved me with that perfrmance, by the way, this video was just as good too, love your channel
Good for you for standing your ground and knowing the local laws. He should have known fans of Rock history would be coming ‘round to to see where “it all happened”
You’ve inspired me and wife to get out and visit many of these places that are in our backyard… L.A ( we’re retired ) I also appreciate the work you two put into your videos, take care!
Absolutely love old Hollywood brother! The teens, twenties, thirties and forties were magical for Hollywood. I live about 120 miles north of Hollywood and we visit often. Looking at all the old Hollywood landmarks. Michael you are perfect to do the old Hollywood videos. PLEASE keep doing these great and remarkable videos. I very humbly thank you guys for all your hard work. God bless you guys!
Your utube channel is the best one. You’re very professional. I watched almost all of your shows. Thank you Kelly from Montana
Loved this! I grew up listening to Frank Zappa, the Doors, Joanie Mitchell……but being that age and a lot going on in my life at the time, I didn’t know a lot of their history. Thank you for sharing, this was very special!
More of these please Micheal These videos are the best. love Hollywood lore and keepimg these stories alive
Thank you for this foray into some of the old rock legend residences of the Canyon. I relished it all. I'm super fascinated with that place, the lore, and the music.
I just found you last week. Been binge watching for days now. I love them all but this one is my favorite. Thank you so much for your work and research! Love it! Thank you thank you thank you!!! The series i wanted my entire life.

Great episode! Your knowledge and respect of music history, including the Laurel Canyon scene really shows. Such an incredible area. Thanks for your hard work!
I commend your ability to handle unreasonable people. For you and Jessica to have experienced people like that yet still be respectable is inspiring. 👏💀👏💀👏💀
Love the history you guys find, and keep these historic sites interesting...yet haunting. Great work man!
Big Zappa, Doors and Stevie Nicks fan, this vid is an absolute treat, every video from this channel is fresh, interesting and brilliant, thank you so much 🖤
What an amazing video! Superb storytelling as always! Thanks as always for sharing. Stay safe!
I agree Michael, keep those caves! 💝 They are magical.
Thank you for this peek into Laurel Canyon! Amazing video.
I’m telling you right now…get into Joni. Some of the most gorgeous folk music you’ll ever hear. Ladies Of The Canyon, Blue, and Hejira are great albums to start with
Nice video Michael & Jessica. A good book to read Weird scenes inside laurel canyon. Tells a lot of what was happening back then.
Yes!
Wow! I love this. Im really glad to stumble upon this. Im 40 now, but i grew up listening to and admiring and aspiring to b just like lots of the rockers you talked about in this video. Im just a hippie bro. Turned out I wasn't good at music period but I'm good at loving it so I became a jeweler and I've created some of the coolest chrome hearts vibe rock n roll jewelry and my studio rings loud while I'm creating! I loved this fr, im addicted now! Cheers!
Michael this is such a awesome video such a beautiful area and who didn't love the Doors and Stevie Nick's very cool area thank you for showing us❤im from the 60s the canyon area was a very cool place very Rich area now so cool thank you for this video 😊
Great video, really love to see Michael poking around these magical and historic places. As bonus, the sound of his footsteps on this one really got my ASMR going 😁
THIS is exactly where i hoped you'd take us! so much music history in the canyon. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Amazing video. Love the stories and video. Great job again. Will need to check this area out.
😢😢😢😢
Ahhh my favorites musicians. Listing to their music growing up in the 70's. Oops just dated myself. 😅. That was an amazing video. 🎃🖤👻
Don't feel alone being over 60?, if you are over 60.
So nice to see where the rockstars lived. Thank you 😊
I love the fact that I was born and raised in Los Angeles and have learned so much about its history from you and Jessica!
Bravo 👏🏼
Grimms, Stevie has been my goddess of rock and roll since 1976! Hi Jessica my wife was so happy to meet you in Mesa! Happy Halloween👻👻❤❤
Earliest I’ve been to a video! 🙂 Love watching with my breakfast. Great start to a day!
Uhhhh i love anything with the doors. The opening to this video! ❤️🎵
G'day guys, smashed another awesome video ❤❤❤. Joni Mitchell ( big yellow taxi) glad to see they haven't paved all paradise to put up a parking lot.
Keep up with these amazing videos.

That was a very interesting video Michael and beautifully filmed as usual.
I attended a wedding in Laurel Canyon a few years ago and left there really late heading home. The drive towards Santa Monica on Laurel Canyon in the dark is pretty spooky....... In a good way.
Your channel is awesome….
