Robby is super down to earth, egoless and insightful. I can see why Jim Morrison felt comfortable around him.
Very down to earth. And patient. I feel for him having to be subjected to this interview.
@jamesanthony5681 Yeah, tell me about it. Jones stated flat out that he didn’t have a single one of their albums, just some Best Of compilation. And he couldn’t have been bothered to have done the slightest bit of research in preparation for this interview, or he would have learned of Robbie’s having written Light My Fire, at the very least. Maybe he’s just lazy, but to me that translates into showing a lack of respect for someone he should’ve been bowing down to.
@@JamesThompson-zk1htmaybe he wanted to learn directly from them, like on a personal level.
This guy is a jerk
He thinks tye dyes are a secret
Code ,theyre a sixties thing that
Went along with
The hippie days
And times this guy knows nothing about any of it . Where was he?
He isnt really very knowledgeable
Dont like his interview style.
Hes boring and
Dumb.
Robby is cool on a whole other level. Its immensely inspiring just knowing he's still alive.
Absolutely
Totally agree.
He's got some kind of hard-to -define charm about him.
He's SO laid back so humble and he's got a pretty funny sense of humor, very different.
Great guitar player with a signature sound perfect for that band.
He had the hottest girlfriend of all of the Doors for a reason..
Is it immensely inspiring? Lol
i agree…
Robby Krieger is probably the most underrated guitarist/ musician of his time. Scratch past the surface a bit and you'll see how much he's actually contributed and the massive echoes that still resonate today.
chopin broccoli -- he's great; such elegance and style in his playing. i love things like his solo in "you're lost little girl", where the solo is its own composition that is an entirely different part than the verses and refrain -- beautiful part.
Chopin Broccoli -Morrison has a knack for words, but he’s just have been an obscure beatnik on Venice Beach if it weren’t for Ray, John and Robbie, talk about your tight bands.
Not underestimated by me!
Chopin Broccoli He's one of my favorite players. His guitar work on ALL the Doors albums is insane. Very rare to make 6 amazing albums in a row all incredible classics.
@@jmgmarcus808 and his writing
Robbie is such a national treasure . Such an important guy in music history . So glad we have him still ....And all his great stories ....
About 12 years ago, i was filling my tank in Ventura Ca while playing LA women, guess who rolled into the next pump? Robbie Krieger! I shook his hand and told him thanks. When I looked in my rear view, he was smiling. Glad I didn’t mess with his day.
No kidding?that's awesome..I would have thought I was seeing things!..Ya never know what's gonna happen when you wake up huh? ☮️
How awesome!!! A magical moment!
Lucky you!
Being from Ventura, Seth McFarlins dad came into our store once and was a proud dad, showing off his sons work, family guy.
That's awesome
On your way to Carpinteria.
My favorite psychedelic passage is Robby's otherworldly guitar freakout toward the end of "When the Music's Over". In addition to "Light My Fire", he wrote "Touch Me" and "Wishful Sinful" another cool track.
Robby's first song he ever wrote was "Light My Fire." Not bad for a beginner.
Thats cool bro
@THANATOS FANATICOS I haven't wroten any song because I have no imagination
Wrong ! Robby co-wrote and recorded a song called "Paranoia" with his band "Psychedelic Rangers" and it was before The Doors...
Pierre Frcs yeah but his first with the Doors shot straight up to #1. Not bad for his first( with the Doors) !!! Robbie has several others that many think Morrison wrote. But either way Jim’s voice is so irreplaceable!
Indeed.
my neighbor taught Jim in the 5th grade in Florida...she said he was vey bright...afer I sawn this vid last night I had a dream Jim was alive...
Wow that's pretty neat!..Yeah,.he was highly intelligent....
He lives!
Glad to see old hippie and old punker sitting together having a great time
and only 1- years between them
I love the lack of ego in the conversation
These guys have seen it all
Krieger seems like a lovely, quite guy.
He doesn't act like a rock star at all...
Cool cat.
I saw the Doors play ‘Light my Fire’ live and what I remember most of all was Robby playing guitar, it was incredible!
I can imagine! 👍
robby is so underrated in many ways.... a humble grand ambassador of the game. any newbie would yield benefit by listening to this guy. a cog in one of the most important amer musical forces during a vital period of the industry.... rock on robby.
Im agree with you dude
Absolutely. The were the author's of the text used at School of Rock....
Kriegers a good one.
This guy was never underated in my eyes.. One of the greats.. Riff Master
ThatChickenMan to bad others didn’t feel the same way. I agree 💯
Oh yeah.... so elegant and delicate... sometimes haunting .... or raucous.... no one played like Robbie.
How was he underrated?
@@cinemar Whenever I read Rolling Stone's list of top 100 guitarists of all time..... I see Robby's name often below names that don't belong above Robby's, and never near the top.
But I am a real Doors fan since 1967, and have come to understand that there is very little middle ground between "all in" and hating them. I don't get it... my own wife "doesn't care for them".... but loves much of the other music I love.
@@pheresy1367 Who gives a shit about Rolling Stone? He's not underrated by the people that matter so what're you worried about?
When you're 74, played in the Doors and wrote Light My Fire you've earned the right to say FUCK on the air.
I'm just so grateful I'm alive at the same time as Robby. Breathing the same air, he really is such a legend. One of those larger than life figures.
The Doors saved me from killing my self
Well that's good!.
Same here
That’s good. Congrats on not giving in and giving up!
Same! I owe them everything.
🙏
robbie is so laid back and cali cool....love listening to him....wish a guitar player would talk with him sometime
Robby* His name is spelled in the title of the video.
@@Danimal77 sorry dahn
Robby is a national treasure. Love this guy.
The greatest guitarist ever from the greatest group ever!
Yeah..No one's better.
I've been lucky enough to meet Robby twice and he is the nicest, most humble guy. Really enjoyed talking with him.
Oh yeah...He's a artist..that is, he Paints .So look up his other Art. Brilliant ,Talented, Insightful .
Yeah, The humble are the most talented.
Robbie has accomplished what every guitarist hopes for , which is developing a sound absolutely indentifiable after listening to just a few notes. It's as easy to recognize as any singers voice.
I did not know that Jim was using Freud when he sang the “Father/Mother” part in The End.
Robbie’s a cool guy. Steve Jones is pretty cool too. It made for a good interview.
Underrated guitarist... 😎😍
I am LOVING this interview! I listen to Jonsie on KLOS, so I get his style. I love Robbies laugh...he’s so cool and I’m going to make it a point to go see him play soon. Too many of these great ole guys are leaving us. Thanks for the fun interview guys!
Less about Jonesy more about the Doors.
He mentions L.A Woman and I have to pause and go listen to that on vinyl really loud.
Krieger's sound is distinct enough for him to be in the pantheon of legendary guitar players.
Loved this relaxed interview!!! Robby, you rule!
Your interviewing a legend, show some respect.
A lot of daft and uninformed questions here, I agree.
Agreed.
oh come on, Jonesy's a legend as well!
It's a well done interview
@@Daneiladams555 More of a loose chat than an interview
just saw Robby on 9-29-19 at the Whisky! He's the best, so real, so honest besides being a one-of-a-kind guitarist
Good to see Robbie and John still up and about. Many of us who love the Doors can hear their influence on bands like the Stranglers, Joy Division, Young Gods etc
Something odd, tension filled and strangely enjoyable about a British punk interviewing a laid back California hippy.
Good stuff.👍
Ok being a life long fan ... the gold nugget for me was Jim seeing his mothers face in the moon while tripping ...that was wild ! 🙂
Yeah..that was pretty cool!..I don't think he saw his parents ever after he went to California.....
watched it last night 👍 good stuff, mates 🍻 good to have sir jonesy back with us 👍👍
Seeing Robby in a new interview is priceless! A kind rock Legend.
A living legend right there
I remember my mother bought the first Doors album due to the fact I'd become interested in playing the drums when I was 8 yrs. old. She said that I should lay down on the couch put on the earphones, close my eyes and listen to "Light My Fire" because the drum roll just before the keyboard solo would be a useful and do me right and would be one I could use in my growing knowledge and capabilities of drumming. I'm very thankful to Mr. Densmore for being The Doors' drummer, he brought an interesting plate to the table and was the hinge that kept the band hanging around for those years that changed my life and tought me so much about myself and drums that I would've never known otherwise. Thankyou John, Jim, Robbie and Ray.
Love coming across clips of Robbie I’ve never seen. Legend in his own rights
"You're all slaaaaves!"

David White,
No, the U.S. just tortures me off and on again (for Satan is their master).
And Bobby Krieger doesn't take himself too seriously, it just gets better 😜
I got Medicare too, along with Blue Cross Medicare Advantage. Hyacinth House is my Favorite Doors tune. Do It Robbie Do It. Many acid trips listening to The Doors, PCP too. But that was in 70's, and I made it to 2023 so far. Do It Robbie Do It. Robbie Krieger was the youngest Door's member, wrote their 1t Hit.
Wow, Great job. Enjoyed every second of it. Glad Robbie is doing well. Bought every Doors album as they came out and pretty much know all words and music to most songs. Those four guys are a big part of a lot of people's lives. Thanks
Robby Krieger , such an under rated song writer. Plenty of classics under hes belt.
Robbie is a brilliant man, the man in the know about the Doors
He had the most honest take on the history of the doors
What a great interview...2 superstars and icons in my eyes and lovely to hear they meet in the street now and then to shoot the breeze...
Thank you two, many time over!
Not so much an interview but a friendly chat, which is great because you learn a bit about them both. Subscribed I have.
LOVED THIS! Don't listen to the haters Jonesy, I find your interview approach unique and refreshing. I hate hearing the same questions in every interview which seems to be the norm. Keep it up!
I saw Robbie live in KCMO several years ago for a small concert in Harrah's Casino. He still had it!!!
Robbie is a cool guy for sitting through the whole interview. The contrast of of a rude uninterested Jones to the patient and kind Robbie was very telling. Jimbo!
I wouldn't say he was rude....seemed like a nice guy.not a great interview though..
Ray wouldn't put up with jonsey

Steve Jones knows how to interview.. 😀 Really why his show is so awesome.. 😀
I saw The Doors perform at the Fillmore East back in the day
YES Robbie "that was cool" thanks Jones'y for bringing this Legend on.
this is totally disappointing. i mean honestly it comes off a little insulting.
Fooey on you
"Jonesy" is out of his league. Robby deserves better.
I couldn't get past 5 minutes of this lousy interview. Robby is royalty and this guy is an amateur.
And take off the god damn sunglasses. Robby ain't wearing any.
@RichleicaMP I don't care who he is, Sex Pistols or not. He showed his elder, his greater than, and showed disrespect.
Yeah, this interview in a nutshell: Jonesy says something cringey/Uncomfortable silent pause/Robby says something intelligent/repeat
@@KurtAspaas Jonesy style is not to arse lick the musicians he meets. Hes right musicians are just like plumbers . You want them to do a good job and thats that. Why be in awe ?
Love Robbie! He is totally underestimated in my opinion.
We love you Steve !!!!! Saludos from Medellin - Colombia
You can tell that Robby Krieger is thinking why in the hell am I here
I saw him around the mid 80s at the Palomino in North Hollywood on Lankershim. After the show i saw him walk into a back room by himself. I walked up to him and hung out for about a hour. He had a cooler full of beer and we had a great time just talking. He's a great guy.
Bless Robby, He's such a Peaceful , Humble Human. He Give So Much For Charities. Wish there were more like him....✌🎸🎶
At the end of Jim’s life he made several beautiful spoken word songs with beautiful piano accompaniment. Jim even played piano on one song. I was not aware of these until about 2022. Very surprised, I had never heard of these. He also had some religious/spiritual references that were wonderful. Very touching songs; please check it out. Easily found on RUclips.
Jonesy doesn't do 'interviews' -- he chats to people, so you get a real sense of what the guest is like as a person. So you just got to hang-out with a member of The Doors! It's something different -- just like The Doors were different. Interviewers are mostly over-excited robots who just fire the usual questions at the "target". This was great! :0)
Robbie is a good dude. Imagine if this guy was your grand pop?
Apocalypse Now, Robbie goes and hears his guitar starting with The End. Then ends with The End. Perfect for the movie.
Good to see you back my man love your content and style
I'm particularly impressed with the work they did on American Prayer.
This interviewer is little clueless on The Doors history.
Ya think?
its on purpose guys Lol when you interview someone you gotta play dumb to get the storys
We love you Robby
Give that interviewer a cup of strong coffee
Interviewing a legend: first you get a giant microphone to cover his mouth and a third of his face.... then you ask about tie dye and medicare..... then show your complete ignorance of the subjects history by asking more lame questions that have been answered in countless previous interviews over 50 years...
but still... I loved listening to Robbie. He was relaxed and forthcoming... of course I gave it a thumbs up...:)
Jonesy literally knows NOTHING about The Doors..
"Admiral Jimbo!!!!!" That was hilarious!
Yeah...that was the highlight!
THe best Radio and You Tube shows Jonesy knows everybody lucky man !
Krieger Is A Warrior ! ;-)
Great interview man!! I love Robbie !! Been one of my guitar influences for over 30 years!!✌Rock on!
Happy Birthday Legend !!!!!! (January 8th). We love you !!!!
wish we had the internet back in the early 70s, imagine the stuff we would have witnessed on a daily basis following Jim around ?
Following a drunk around for a day might be very interesting for a while until the cops are called for punching the camera-man's face.
true...guess I forgot about the drunk part
There's a point in this interview when they mention that there are Doors numbers other than the well known songs that are strong as well. Personally, I would struggle to find many Doors songs that are anything other than top flight. For this reason, they are certainly amongst the very few essential artists of the Rock n Roll era.
Welcome back Jonesy
First heard of The Doors via Absolutely Live. The bass player on LA Woman was in Elvis Presleys 70s touring band.Great interview mentioning The End from that excellent debut album. Also The Ghost Song is a great track on the American Prayer and The Doors movie soundtrack album. My favourite song is When The Musics Over because it contains all the elements that made The Doors great.
Yeah...I gotta go with L.A. woman or. Something off Morrison hotel...
Riders On The Storm is a classic.
Robby Krieger is a legend but damn this was painful to watch.
it wasn't painful to me! great interview
just two old blokes having a friendly chat.
Just to see Robby alive is a blessing....watching him you still can visualize a lot of memories from the 60s very alive
Top answer about Harvey Brooks playing one gig at the forum with the Doors
I’m a huge fan of Robbie ,I think he’s criminally underrated as a guitarist, but I think it’s funny how serious he is as a person when Jonsey is taking the piss on everything
Johnny and Glen were massive Doors Fans...especially John who he saw them play in London
Interesting, didn't know that they were big fans!
The Doors only played in London once, at the Roundhouse in 1968, Lydon would have been 10 or 11?
I love Jonesy.
My friend Kerry Magness played bass on The Unknown Soldier... he passed away around 2004. I think he was the only bass player who was ever credited on one of their albums.
Robbie was always just a regular guy that just happened to be in a band with Jim Morison. It was a perfect sound and fit for band. It worked.
This guy interviewing Robbie Kreiger is not well informed to do a proper interview.
