Two of my favorite guitarists, for two completely different reasons. The thing they share in common that initially drew me to them was their individual tone. Jonesy had this big, powerful tone that always sounded (to me) like his guitar was cussing. I don’t know how else to describe it. I used to call it “the wall of fuck”, haha! And Brian just had that great mid-range Vox tone that cut right through. Great to see these two guitar heroes of mine together.

Funny as hell, and I think he’s found his niche as a radio host, even though he was responsible for helping to create a whole movement and his own distinct style of guitar I can hear a guitar and I know it’s Steve Jones right away!
It's great to see people who have done it all (and I don't mean drugs, but life and music in generell) being so calm, laid back and clever. I can't believe he just turned 70. I would love to see Bruce Dickinson on that show, who's a very intelligent, articulate and talented guy, too. Lemmy would have been great, but... And then there's Mark Knopfler, David Gilmore, Greg Graffin (Bad Religion), Jello Biafra, Nick Cave, Jimmy Page, etc. Come on, Jonesy, get 'em.

Dr. May maybe older but he seems youthful to me. Getting older, most people start to age on their hands, his arms and hands look youthful. I wish they got into whether or not Freddie punched Sid Vicious.
I absolutely love these two guys, Brian May's wonderful!!!!
One of the Greatest Guitarists to Walk on this Planet, and has a degree in Astronomy!
That’s be Astrophysics lol!
I adore the passion Brian May has about animals. He, as a musician, has always been ahead of others and I think his thoughts about animals will one day be commonly shared. Such an intelligent and expressive man. ❤
Brian is such a good bloke, I would love to go for a few ales with him down the local.
That would be cool!
Ask him, he’ll probably say “yes”.
Great interview & great conversation. I would absolutely love seeing Jimmy Page, R.Blackmore or Tony Iommi chating with Steve.
"He's very attractive to women, apparently"
I bet he's attracted to your pfp which is Rogerina 🤩
Who keeps coming back to this interview given recent times? This is like the 10th time I've watched it! I'm not a hardcore fan of either's music but I just think this conversation is class.
I wish I had a father like Brian , who would talk to me about music, his time with Queen in the early days, animals rights, the universe. I really love all that!
Both my parents are also 70 and they no longer talk about anything like this.
Brian is a genius and yet so humble.
I recommend on PBS a show called "The Elegant Universe." It's all about String Theory, multiple dimensions, quantum physics etc.
Dr. May maybe older but he seems youthful to me. Getting older, most people start to age on their hands, his arms and hands look youthful. He is always active with great music, projects, and his research/academics. I've always been interested in him going beyond his music, maybe because I share the doctor title with him. He makes me smile! 😊
Sat with him on a flight decades ago. Absolutely lovely person. Gracious and humble.
god how can you see and hear brian smile and laugh without grinning yourself. its not possible my heart is so FULL i love this man so much!!
I could sit here for hours and hours and hours listening to them
"it's an extension of my arm"
"baby's arm"
"nyeeeaaahhhh"
CallitHowISeeIt He’s probably not familiar with that term.
Damn, May looks great for a bloke in his 70s.
I love all the amazing directions this conversation went in XD
Is it just me, or does Brian May absolutely carry this interview?
No
not only you
You don't get it you IDIOT. The brilliance of Steve Jones is that he gives his guests space to talk
....unlike all these worthless interviewers who talk over their fucking guests all the time
Steve let's him talk. That's his style and thank fuck to. Far too often the interviewer doesn't allow guest's to talk & flow.
John Smith - Exactly. Thank you.
Fantastic interview! It was hilarious at 18:40 when Steve said “babies arm” (a euphemism for cock!) and Brian clearly didn’t get it🤣
Jonesy is so laid back and the musicians he gets in have respect as the sex pistols were so ground breaking and different
Yes it's funny because if it had been a 'normal interviewer' Brian maybe would've walked out early.
azdownunder why?
Maybe not walked out, but he would have gotten visibly annoyed.
satchfan2010 What did Steve say to annoy Brian?
I think Brian was keen to talk about the book.
this whole conversaton is what Internet was invented for! what a joy to listen to this lovely chat!
Queen can cover all genres of music styles there's nothing that original band with Freddie Mercury couldn't do , haven't heard Brian May doing Motorhead covers but I bet it sounds uniquely different and Fresh
I bet they can't do any song that involves Freddie Mercury singing?
His lead guitar solos covering Motorhead were pretty much dross when compared to Fast Eddie Clarke RIP 👍
Totally engrossing and fascinating, listening to these 2 talents shooting the breeze casually. It has none of the pretentious crap of the modern kid interviewer these days. Feels almost like being in a pub, having a beer with these 2 fellas. :)
"im not a virtuoso, really" Brian PLEASE. btw this is maybe the best interview with musicians ive seen
This is pure ASMR to me. Listening to Brian can really comfort a damaged soul.
Steve Jones talks about goat's cheese with Brian May. Welcome to old age folks.
+L.V Elis No. Jones just brings up random topics in a skewed manner as he's a tad cheeky. Also May is very boring and trite so Jones is therefore mixing it up by talking nonsense about cheese. He's being silly/daft as fuck.
hyena131 hahahah!!!!! 😂😂
@@hyena131 May boring and trite? Smh
@@youjoker9647
You can "smh" all day and all week if you like. It alters not the fact that May is a veritable himbo who really needs to change that dreadful hairstyle. And I won't mention that he's terribly self absorbed and in love with the sound of his own voice if you don't...:)
@@hyena131 dreadful hair style? Even if you think it's bad that your opinion! He can do whatever he wants, because guess what?! It's his hair! Also he is terribly self absorbed?! If knowing your talents is self absorbed I've been told wrongly my whole life! Also I seriously doubt that he is self absorbed because not only does he have depression, he is obviously joking when he says those kind of things.
Not sure why this suddenly appeared in my feed 7 years later (having been a Brian May fan since 1980), but glad that it did!
Jonsey is great as a interviewer
An amazing conversation! Thanks for posting this.
Roger Taylor and Bowie were really close friends from my understanding.
