In his 128 point season he was actually negative on Def_xG and Def_CF. It is actually quite an achievement when you score 128p and just tells you how otherworld bad you were in your own zone. If TB didn't have puck and Kucherov was on the ice they were basically same as playing on penalty kill. This also hints to the fact that he is super dependent on his linemates. Connor McDavid is easily the best player since Mario Lemieux.. Look, Crosby is great but McDavid is on a different level - he's on that Lemiuex/Bobby Orr level, just terrific.. And I cant say Gretzky because despite Gretzky scoring a ton and his hockey IQ being off the charts he wasn't "dazzling" and he wasn't a tremendous athlete like Lemieux, Orr, McDavid, Crosby, Kane - take your pick when it comes to Gretzky..
Sad no mention of Vasilevskiy. His stats compared to other players are off the chart. I understand scoring is a thing but Vasilevskiy is in a league of his own and not just for one year. I am sure the snub "has not gotten by him".
It's a great misconception in sports that skill and skill alone make a player great. Well it does make a player elite, greatness is measured on a different scale. Greatness is measured in not only skill but also abilities, core abilities. Understanding of all 3 zones, leadership, attitude, teamwork and the uncanny ability to be there when called upon, every single time. Not to mention, Championships! The closest we have to that in the NHL is quite clearly Sidney Crosby. His ability to make everyone else better and to lead a group of men to the playoffs over and over, year after year, winning cups while collecting awards, smashing records and consistently being clutch for the boys is unmatched for awhile now.

Was he playing in a good line and with good team during that year? 😉
umm how many concussions has scheifele had? the fact that he said mackkinnon over mcdavid. no disrespect i think mac is definitely right under mcdavid but mcdavids on a new level
Mcdavid < Mackinnon
Mackinnon < crosby
id say
5. Draistital
4. Crosby
3. Matthews
2. Mackinnon
1. Mcdavid
@@Insigne_ agreed
As if Crosby was the only one to mention Draisaitl. Goats recognize goats I guess.
Drai is criminally underrated, but of course everyone knows mcdavid and Crosby are the only real answers.
how is he criminally underrated? anyone whos won a lindsay is just not underrated. i mean yeah hes gonna get less spotlight playing with mcdavid, but that doesnt make him underrated. jari kurri is widely seen as one of the greatest goal scorers of all time, just because gretzky gets a lot more attention doesnt mean kurri is underrated.
Panarin would be 2 in the league for points right behind McDavid if he didn’t miss 10 games.
It´s not about the points
@@mdanko3975 well, what makes everyone say McDavid is the best in the league is his offensive production right? Because when we say he's the best player in the league, I sure hope we're excluding defense, and physicality.
@@mdanko3975 Panarin is better than both MacKinnon and McDavid defensively
I love how humble subban is
Mcdavid would be like of course I know him he's me
Not enough draisatl respect in my opinion only the former mvp 50 goal scorer was on pace for 130 points
i mean hes not gonna get a lot of mentions in a conversation about the best player in the league, hes not even the best player on the oilers.
Mcdavid is the obvious but I think Kucherov gets overlooked….
Connor McDavid.......by far!!!
If Barzal was on the avalanche penguins capitals or oilers he’d be in the Convo no doubt, he’s way underrated
100%. Dude likely has the #1 and #2 goals of the year this season.
nah he's not a top 10 or even top 20 but he's very talented
@@NHLMasterLikeAndSUBSCRIBE damn not even top 20? Harsh.
@@exhorder95 i mean take in to account there's defenceman too
Roope Hintz
Everyone always jumps to forwards. I get it, they’re the most exciting to watch, but how is Victor Hedman not in a discussion about the best player? Or Vasilevsky for that matter. There’s more than 3 positions, and definitely more than 1 (everyone always picks centers). They didn’t ask who was the fastest, best sniper, or who could deke the best. They asked the best player and goalies and d-men just get ignored.
Hedman has 1 Norris trophy in 12 years in the league
McDavid has 3 Ted Lindsays in half that time.
The Ted Lindsay Award is picked by NHL players..... so clearly you are wrong.
Thank you Mark Scheifele always so honest
Hey nhl you should do a.Who is your favorite player in the nhl
At least the players realize Mathews is overhyped
@HOCKEY HELL YA until Mathews gets multiple 50 goal season as well as over 800 goals ov will be 1000 times better
Mark Sheifle is officially salty at the McDavid so he chose MacKinnon
He’s gonna say McDavid after the first round. As an Oilers fan I don’t love us in the playoffs, but we are a lock to beat Winnipeg.
@@dashhoy2579 oof
McDavid for sure...and he is always just loving playing the game
I love it, the connor mcdavid show :)
you know, i’m surprised more people didn’t say ovy. kinda disappointed
He ain’t that type of player
Ovi is the best goal scorer but not the best player
@@dannywalter6056 matthews is the best goal scorer now, ovis time has passed tho hes still very good
@@gooeygoodra4149 Ovi was better at goal scoring in his prime than Matthews will ever be. Ovi might be the best goal scorer of all time.
@@hiwifi4898 yes i'd say he is the greatest goal scorer of all time, but in the current nhl matthews is a better goal scorer than ovechkin. Can't blame him, age just catching up and even then hes hardly slowed down.
To all the people saying points aren’t everything: I highly doubt other nhlers will say someone is the best for their points alone
Amen.
Sad no mention of Vasilevskiy. His stats compared to other players are off the chart. I understand scoring is a thing but Vasilevskiy is in a league of his own and not just for one year. I am sure the snub "has not gotten by him".
Mitch Marner is the one who make those play to Matthews
And Matthews is the one who finishes it with his wicked shot, his shot alone makes him one of the best not to mention his defensive ability.
They should do the best goalie or Defenceman that would be cool
Answer: Connor McDavid
Number 1 McDavid. Number 2 McKinnon
CONNOR MCDAVID is the most skilled player in the nhl, his ability to create offence out of nothing is unmatched by any player in the leauge. Id compare him to Kevin Durant of the NBA. All out demi god
Crosby def the best hockey player. Face offs, battles, vision, no weaknesses to his game.
Mcdavid has the most speed/puck skill, which counts for a lot, but he’s not the best.
I love how selfless these guys are, like Crosby knows he’s the best and still picks Mcdavid
It’s mcdavid
They should've used bad players bc the good players already know who the best is
Themselves lol
@@Sam-qe6wr no
@@brentod1679 yes mcdavid is better at the moment you can say all that stuff about all around totals but in the end that doesn’t compare to mcdavids point totals
@@Sam-qe6wr
All around is more important than points. Points isn't everything in hockey
All around is EVERYTHING
Best one? Maybe Barkov, Aho, Rantanen, Heiskanen, Hintz or Teräväinen. Really hard to pick one.
@Patzino You forgot Granlund
Notice a lot of defencemen automatically say Mcdavid, Lol!!! Mcdavid makes really good defencemen look bad. Right now Mcdavid has 1.79 points per game. In this era that’s unreal.
Of course McDavid is the best, he got al his skills playing with Lucic for three years
I saw a top 5 recently :
5 Draisaitl
4 Mackinnon
3 Vasilevski
2 Makar
1 McDavid
Even Jack “Radioactive Boy” Eichel said McDavid? Will wonders never cease….
So here is what I’ve added up to, Mcdavid has 17 points, Makinion has 6 points, Crosby has 5 points, Mathew’s has two and so does drysital, so the best overal player in the league is Connor McDavid.
what about draisaitl?
Drastital has 2 points
Wish we could have scored Subban, that guy is one of the best defense players I have ever seen.(Oilers fan to the end)
For me: in no particular order...MacKinnon, McDavid, Crosby, Matthews, Ovi, Marner.
Do we guys have any bloopers of puck personality
I saw anders was in the video of nhl responds how is he doing? Does he think he will be back next season? Damn I miss my captain
Offensively... McDavid & Kane, for sure.
But best 200-foot players: Crosby & MacKinnon
Next puck personality video: nhl players saying what player on ur team deserves the cup the most
Come on guys, it's not McDavid
Straight to the point Mcdavid
Zverev: “put myself in there maybe.”
Hahaha I didn’t expect someone to say that in a NHL video
@@Zch-ee4ow I watch a lot of tennis too. Nice to see a fellow tennis fan here.
Alright this might be contreversial but matthews is better than draistaitl

yep
Matthews better shot, draisaitl better pass. Faceoff, skating almost equal
@@teddylongbow4850 Yeah but when I think goals are more valuable when evreything is even.
I think Connor McDavid is the best NHL player😮
Crosby’s answer was the 3 guys he’s pushing everyday to try and keep up with
Funny how defense gets completely overlooked when deciding the best player.
Yes, this is true. Same goes for goaltending. On the same time, we have to be honest and say there is no Lidströms or Haseks in the league currently. Cant think any defender or goalie, that could be on the same level with best forward today. Maybe Makar or Vasilevsky? I think that without injuries and personal life setbacks E.Karlsson might have become one
Meant to say maybe Makar or Vasilevsky one day could be in the future
Unm, doesn’t the saying go that offence wins games but defence championships? Or something along those lines. I highly doubt that defence is the easiest part of hockey, quite the opposite actually.
@@Carl_McMelvin Yes, right balance is needed. On that we can agree, even if our views of defence differ greatly 👍 Btw. the saying far out dates american football, since it is common in so many older games than american football
i don't think it really makes sense to think of it that way.
Best offensive talent/playmaker, McDavid
Best Goal scorer, Matthews
Best Defensive forward Probably Patrice Bergeron.
Best offensive D Darnell Nurse
Best defensive D Victor Headman
Best Goaltender Fleury
Seeing Kane and Crosby say their opinion was humbling
Sid gave a shout out the Drai.
Brandon Hagel 100%
Ilya Mikheyev
without a doubt
They should say Matthews more often 👍
They know it best “McDavid”
I feel like goalies definitely need some credit bc fleury, price, quick, holtby, Andersen, swayman and all the rest of the record breaking goalies NEVER get recognized in these videos
Crosby has more success then McDavid at McDavids age
