This never came to mind, but dealer mark ups can lead to a manufacturer discontinuing vehicle trim level. Manufacturer see they're not selling enough units but not considering mark ups being a factor. 🤔
It's supply vs demand. If they want to crack down, just build more of the same. It's that simple. However, they won't do that for very a simple reason, it's a halo for the Tundra brand. There's nothing truly extraordinary about these vehicles. A Tundra TRD Pro is just a regular Tundra with some bigger wheels and suspension, it's then branded and marketed to hell. They could easily meet demand by building more. They won't do that because it's a halo model, which generates showroom traffic and boost sales of budget models.
You missed a great opportunity to showcase the automatic backup system. It is perfect for boat launches. All you do is line up your trailer, engage the system, and it'll back you up in a straight line regardless of how the truck is oriented. I find it to be a very useful feature for situations like this and campsites and other areas where you're backing into a spot with a trailer.
@@StPaddy81It is called Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist. It is part of the Limited Premium Package which is available on the Limited trim and standard on higher trims.
I got 2024 Limited Hybrid 4wd with a 6.5ft bed, factory air suspension, power extending tow mirrors, and every tech option besides the pano/moonroof. Absolutely love it for towing the boat. We're at about 6000lbs with trailer, so well within the max rating. In rolling hills while towing, the electric boost comes on perfectly to fill the gap and prevent loss of speed as the engine/turbos carch up. Ride and handling are great with the rear air suspension. Putting the pedal down for both gas and electric together provides great power. My center screen is usually on Android Auto for nav/audio so I don't mind having all those towing/driving options in the gauge cluster area. I will say that my 2018 F150 3.5 Ecoboost of same cab/bed size with Sumo Springs was a bit more solid suspension-wise while towing and resting on the extended bump stops, but hitting too big a bump or seam at a bridge on the highway when not towing would contact those Sumo Springs and be very uncomfortable. Air suspension is a huge upgrade for all-around usability.

I can't speak to the Pro. However, I've been pulling our 35-foot travel trailer with a Platinum for the last year, and it's awesome. I like the auto leveling rear suspension.
The auto leveling suspension is a neat idea, but another high tech thing to fail. And when it does, it hinders ride quality, and if towing.., I would think would make towing impossible. Everybody is more concerned about having one more feature than the next guy, than just having a reliable truck. All these trucks are man made which means there is an inherent risk of breakdown and/or failure. But when you add all these extra things in, you increase this risk 10 fold. I have seen it over and over. I am fleet manager (amount other things) for more that 40 vehicles. They are traded at about 120k miles. I will no doubt steer away from anything GM… I am about sick of paying for stupid repairs on f150 with eco boost.
@ridynh7923 I have a 2012 Nissan Armada that has auto leveling suspension. I've been towing with it for 9 years, and the suspension is all original. That feature is the single biggest reason why I got the Platinum Tundra.
While this truck might be quite capable of pulling that boat, it will not last as long with that little Turbo V6 under the hood. Great if you're only leasing. Turbos run hotter and burn up sooner. I'd much prefer the last model with the NA 5.7 liter V8.
Looking back after all the tundras you’ve driven and owned do you think the iforce max is worth the $4k price tag on the upcoming 24? Are the real world mpg, performance, payload and towing characteristics really that different?
