      That is an area of hot topic. I have rolled belts off on the Yamaha and Suzuki models without damaging the belt. As Low Life commented, I'm sure it possible and probably some videos on youtube showing it. Using the tool in the video is a way to ensure not damaging the belt. Believe we paid less than $30 for the clutch remover tool and it can be used again. Thanks for your comment and let us know how you decided to do it.

      @everythingatv-utv-reviews3565 The video is over 8 years old, so I'm surprised that you responded at all lol. A friend tried extracting it, but no luck. The tool is 8" long, with 5" broken inside the clutch, and it's 3" deep. My ATV is currently at the shop. My mechanic said this happened because the tool was made of a weaker metal. He might have to cut off the clutch just to get it out. He might be able to save it, but he's pretty sure that I'll need to purchase a new primary clutch, which usually go for around $250 🙁

    Question. I just bought a 2010 BF 750. The guys just put a new belt on it. Well it slips and you have to press on the throttle a little longer before it catches forward and reverse. The guy says this is normal during the break in period. Is this true?

    • @atvdirt1
      @atvdirt1  6 лет назад

      Jeremy, this doesn't sound right. Was this lull there prior to the belt change? If not I would start by checking that it's the correct belt. Packaging errors do happen straight out of the box. Next I would check to make sure the sheaves (or the area the belt rides on) is clean. An easy way to clean this is by putting some acetone on a rag and wiping down. If there are other symptoms please list...

    Hi. I am thinking on buying one 750. I have some doubt. Do yo need to take all the sorraunding plastics before the belt black cover?. I will do long trips an that will be a problem. Can you take the primary bolt stoping the cvt as you do whit the extractor bolt? And finally how much does the belt last? Thanks for the informattion

    • @atvdirt1
      @atvdirt1  7 лет назад +1

      All the plastic will not need removing for a belt change. This video was filmed in conjunction with a valve adjustment, that's why most plastic is off. Foot well plastic for sure, but you should get by with that only. I'm sure a little creativity will make a belt change easier in remote locations. The belt will last as long as any other CVT setup, like anything else how you treat it will determine that. Thanks for the comment and hope that answers your question.

    thanks for the video! I just changed the belt on my Prairie 360 4x4 using this video because the light came on and upon inspection the belt deflection was beyond the service limit. The Gates belt is a little tight and squeals when in gear/idling but I'm assuming that will go away when the belt wears some. I got the puller-bolt from MTS and the clutch popped loose like you said. Also, the torque for the clutch bolt when reassembling is 69 ft./lb., per factory spec.
    What I don't know is, how do I make the 'Check Belt' lamp go off? Will disconnecting the battery reset it?

    • @integr8er66
      @integr8er66 3 года назад +1

      No it won't, there are other videos that show how to do that, basically you swap two of the harness connectors and turn the key on, then swap them back. Also the light comes on a lot, it doesn't always mean the belt needs to be changed, I have never changed mine in 15 years, but have reset the light a few times
