    Just blew the belt on my kawasaki Prarie 700 so I think this video will be perfect for me to use as a reference. I've never done work on an ATV but I can figure it out. Thank you for posting this. Down to the detail and simple to follow. 10/10

    Hi Ross, that can be a hard one. If the clutch is siezed on the crankshaft you might have to cut it off. I have removed the clutch bolt and put a small amount of grease inside the bolt hole and then thread in a high quality clutch puller like an EPI puller. This will act like a hydralic and can help pop the clutch off. I have had others tip the machine on its side and pour water into the clutch and rap the puller with teflon tape and tighten to do the same thing but less of a mess.

  • @Phlmyr
    @Phlmyr 2 года назад

    You say ,(and I have found that the clutch bolt is LH ) I have the bolt out. However when you use the "CTC 510" You seem to be putting it on like a right hand thread. is this just a slip since you already have the unit removed and the video is just filler and how to do explanation?

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  2 года назад

      The CCT510 doesnt actually thread into the clutches themselves. The threaded part of the tool just slides through the center of the clutch. Then you use the nut from the tool to tighten and compress the springs. The tool is right handed threads.

    This on stock rubber? EPI is telling me even with my 26 inch zilla’s the stock clutch kit is what I want he says it’s good for up to 26 inch tires but on the website it doesn’t say that. It says stock tire kit. Then the other kit is for 27 and 28 inch.

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  3 года назад

      if your doing more mud and low to mid speed trail riding use the 27-28" kit. 26" are lighter then some of the other mud tires, you can use the stock kit if you are doing road riding and high speed riding but if your doing that i would use a less agressive tire lol. Some models are pickier then others as far as clutch tuning, the Kawi's are a little more forgiving.

    • @EPIperformance

      I would have a clutch kit for your machine that would include primary spring, weights, and a secondary spring which is all the tuning compenents that would hel p give you better all around performance. But if there is something physically wrong with your clutch you would still need to fix that first to make everything work. I would clean and inspect your clutches and your belt. Look for damaged or worn bushings, rollers and buttons. Clean everything well and go from there.

    What exactly would I need for a 2012 750 with 28" silverbacks? I need a kit that will turn these with no problem

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  9 лет назад

      TankSlayer109 We would have you use the Mudder kit which will give you a lot more low end and midrange power and torque to help turn the bigger tires and keep them moving. Also will get faster backshift and throttle response and will grip the belt better then stock. Part number for the 2012 750 Brute Force is AW443154. We would also recommend the PCP-10 clutch puller and the CCT510 Clutch Compression Tool.

My Kawasaki prairie 650 2003 drive belt seems to not fit perfectly between the two disk (plates?) on the secondary clutch. Thanks. Good info will be appreciated.

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  7 лет назад

      You should need a special tool to remove the secondary clutch. Once you remove the nut/bolt it should slide off the shaft . If it doesn't you might need to spray some penetrating fluid inside the clutch hole and let it sit and then try pulling off. Sometimes they get corroded on.

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  3 года назад +1

      That seems a little lower then normal. Usually the bigger heavier tires will hurt the top speed. So if you have a the stock clutching the Mudder Kit will give you a lot more low end and midrange power, faster backshift and throttle response. If you have been into the clutches at all yet i would clean them good and inspect them to see if there are any other issues. You might need a new belt also.

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  6 лет назад

      To change the spring in the clutches we use our CCT510 compression tool and that has always worked. Most of the primary springs are short enough you don't need a tool, but the secondary clutches you will need something. If you are doing more then changing springs and weights you will need different tools. But we don't typically change those parts.

      I believe 10-12 ft/lbs, we don't have a service manual that shows the torque spec of the cover plate bolts. Do you lube any of the parts if so what do you use?

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  6 лет назад

      No lube on anything. It need to be a clean and dry clutch. Any lube will get thrown around by engine rpms and make your belt slip. Best thing you can do is every once in a while take a air hose and blow the clutches off and clean them.

      If they put a complete aftermarket clutch in it you will need to find out what brand it is and try to contact them. If its a clutch kit in your stock clutches you will want to find out who's kit it is and contact them. You might have the wrong kit or clutch for your model. If its an EPI kit the best thing would be to call us 218-829-6036 and we can sort through it.

      @@ericabecker8764 Call EPI and ask for tech dept and we will try to figure it out. Before you call if you can find out what color springs you have and what it says on the side of the weights then we can verify they have the right kit for your machine. What size tires are on the machine and do you know what the part number of the kit is they put in.

      @EPIperformance  5 лет назад

      @@ericabecker8764You might need to carefully push down on the clutch and clean the end of the shaft that is stick up. Sometimes it will get dirty, rusty, or sticky, and not all ow the clutch cover to come off. If the cover is stuck to the clutch you will have to pull up on it. You can very very lightly tap on it with a rubber mallet. IF it is that stuck on there that's why you are not getting any top speed. Something is sticking or binding up.

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  Год назад +1

      Depends on what tool you dont have. If you dont have the clutch puller it will be much harder because you wont be able to remove the primary. Still can be done but takes a lot more time and patience. If you have have the compression tool you will need to make some time of tool or way to compress the spring enough to be able to remove and install the snap ring on the secondary clutch.

    what kit should I use if I plan on running 29.5 outlaws

    • @EPIperformance

      The best option for your 29.5" Outlaws would be our mudder clutch kit

    Does this hurt top speed or does it raise it or does it stay the same?

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  4 года назад

      Top end will stay the same for the stock tire kits. For the 27-28" tires its normally within a few mph then stock. The Mudder kit can lose 5-10mph off the top depending on tire size and weight. You will gain more bottom end and midrange power, faster backshift and throttle response and will grip the belt better then stock with all the kits.

      Or the bushing, that’s what I mean?

    • @EPIperformance
      @EPIperformance  5 лет назад

      IF your talking about the bushing in the cover plate came out of the clutch you will normally need to replace the cover plate which I believe on your model has the bushing already installed. IF you are just changing the cover plate you don't need to any special tools, you can do that with the clutch on the machine. You would just want to have someone compress the spring while you take the old cover off and put the new one on.
