Fee Waybill to me is one of the best frontmen for this genre of music and the Tubes music continues today with many of the original band members. Love Prairie Prince!!! RIP Vince Welnick.
My mom met these guys long time ago before they hit it big she was an extra on the movie Xanadu when they filmed the big band era concert. Great bunch of guys and everyone had a blast.
Wow. Never seem them live. I’m pretty damn impressed. Band pretty damn tight. Backing vocals strong. And boy can that singer sing. Holy crap he’s good. This is possibly one of the BEST live local performances I’ve seen by ANYONE.
I’ve always liked this song by The Tubes whenever I heard DJ’s spin it on FM. This is the first time I’ve seen it performed live and I gotta say Fee and the guys made it sound damn close to the studio recording. The 80’s was a great time for this genre of rock music.
So great to know you guys are still out working. No gimmick talent seems more rare than ever. Come to Florida!!! Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheater a the Tampa fair grounds would be a great venue.
I would have given anything to get to "boogie" on the dance floor with the lead singer. It would have been a high point in my life.......the man can move....LOL Really loved this song when it came out.
Was prarie prince? Still with the band by this point in time. I know he also was journeys original drummer, but went back to them. Then I think in 1992 he was Jefferson Starships drummer. C please correct me if I am wrong.
Love this band. Fee is unbelievable, that tone, that heart, and what a tune!!! Saw you guys in SF I think you were opening for the David Bowie serious moonlight tour... at Candlestick? Great show. tubes should of headlined!
Few days later I believe they played Cal State Stanislaus in little Turlock CA. Excellent show. My metal friends were like, dude..what are you doing. They didn't get it ;-)
Hardly! Wilco Radiohead Do stuff that while less commercial is as or deeper and equal musical skils and quality. There is no 80s pop/rock though lol. If that is all you wired for i see your complaint. 😮❤
Wow they had to do all that with out any fake auto BS going on. Backing vocals while playing all those off beat riffs. Way too much work for today. Also, how tall was the guitarist? Holy shit lol
This is downright pedestrian compared to when I saw them at their concert in the Toledo Sports Arena in '76, with Fee and company in full regalia. That concert was shortly after their appearance in Playboy. I've still got the issue, yea, the pictures are OK, but the article on the other hand brought the Tubes to my attention...
Yeah, they went from being a really odd and interesting- - and rocking band -- to being a stadium kind of band. Fee definitely made a decision to move them in that direction.
Moving in that direction resulted breaking up the band,Fee wanted David Foster to produce albums and the rest of the band said NO.Foster brought in Steve Lukather to cowrite and play on Talk To ya later and She's A Beauty which were great songs. But on his 2nd album with the tubes he had session musicians on 4 tracks which made half the album sound like 80s lightweight crap.when it came time to do their next album Foster told the band that he would write all of side 1 with Lukather Waybill and his session musicians would do all of the instrumentation on side 1.Side 2 the tubes would play and write.record label and management wanted this thinking the Lukather Foster Waybill writing team was going to get them hits, band refused so label(Capital) gave Fee a solo deal with Foster producing and Lukather writing and playing with the belief that Waybill was more important than rest of the band.Subsequent album Read My Lips was a commercial and artistic disaster( 2 good songs -saved my life and thrill of the kill) rest of the album is typical west coast 80s pablum that Foster is known and mocked for, label dropped Fee and with the Tubes under contract for 1 more album dropped the Tubes and didn't help promote the album as band started tour for the album.Shitty way for a great and unique band to end(original lineup )
Live!!! WOW!!! Stands up today, no flash?? If they did ???? ( talk to you later) another great song ?? We are getting screwed with music now it's all the same??? No variety?? And tech today wow!!! If these 80's bands had it??? The shows would of been over the top!!! Think about it people???
Todd Rundgren married one of the dancers. Other than that, he produced the next album, not this one. David Foster produced + co-wrote songs from Completion Backwards Principle + Outside Inside, where this song is from.
@thebrandon0228 no I haven't.. there's a few bands from the 70s and 80s still playing that sound 10 times better live than when they were younger.. probably because they're not cooked out of their minds anymore.. lol
I met Prairie when he was drumming for Starship. He spent the time to take photos with us. Thanks! I didn't have the time to tell him this was one of my favorite songs of the 80's. PS : I noticed the keyboardist has a Conn Strobe Tuner. Did those old synths drift out of tune that often?
SO MUCH talent on that stage!
Such a charismatic frontman!
Yess! 1984❤
Cheers! 1984

Everyone knowing the treachery and deceit of the human heart, and still rocking out to a fabulous tuna 😊 salmon chanted evening near you.
God. It was great being a teenager in the 80's

love this song back in 8th grade
80’s art is truly iconic and unrivaled.
Wow. Never seem them live. I’m pretty damn impressed. Band pretty damn tight. Backing vocals strong. And boy can that singer sing. Holy crap he’s good. This is possibly one of the BEST live local performances I’ve seen by ANYONE.
For a totally LIVE performance, this was outstanding!!! 😎
Great sound!
I'm there playing along with a soundtracking
I'd recognize Steves tone anywhere
One of my many favorites from a decade of unforgettable artists & their own music ❤
Very underrated group good group good songs good musicians
One of the tightest bands that I ever saw live!Awesome stage show!
Ohhhhh the80's We were untouchable..
We were definitely the shit we walked it , lived it ,,and breathed it,, down to every kegger,,🤣🤣🤣
Saw them in Newton NJ, met Fee. Nice guy! A horseman!
Not only a great band but great at injecting humour into the lyrics. I’m longing for the good old days.
this song should be required listening for anyone going to thailand to party!!!
That. Was. Brilliant! My favorite pop song of all time and they just nail it here. An incredible band and a really, really great song.
They did a nice job here! One of my favorite songs.
The power of the 80s. Brutal sound
OH MY GOSH! I would watch these Guys 1000 concerts in a row if I could!
Incredibly good! They sound as good as in the album version!! I'm totally falling in love with this band!!
My 1st Concert ever in 1977. Back when they had the elaborate stage show with all the theatrics
What an introduction to the Rock scene!!
Beautiful live version.

Awesome
What a fun, "chemically perfect" song !
Great drummer, unique phrasing.
Great vocals by Fee Waybill! What talent!

Keeping it real, and AWESome from the 80's
I totally love this live performance!!!!! ;-)
Wow amazing live performance

Yea this is pretty tight, but the singer is the biggest standout to me. Sounds exactly like the record if not better. Wow what a voice!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Few days later I believe they played Cal State Stanislaus in little Turlock CA. Excellent show. My metal friends were like, dude..what are you doing. They didn't get it ;-)

My favorite version, because it is sounds cool authentic.

Hardly!
Wilco
Radiohead
Do stuff that while less commercial is as or deeper and equal musical skils and quality.
There is no 80s pop/rock though lol.

@davidryan7386 Some depressing music right there
Love it!!
awesome song and performance!
Fee is a monster!
Fee way-bill ,awesome job!
That's when music ,was the "real deal"!
Today's stuff belongs in a cess pool
More cowbell!
Saw them in this era - superb - all others pale in comparison.
Wow they had to do all that with out any fake auto BS going on. Backing vocals while playing all those off beat riffs. Way too much work for today. Also, how tall was the guitarist? Holy shit lol
Great song! Aug 2024
GREAT BAND !!! GO FEE !!!!!!
good live version of this song!
Wasn't prairie prince their drummer at one point?
Mind blown. Great stuff.
Sweet version. Fantastic :)

The Love Bomb Tour 1985.

Was this Perkins Palace?

Um, anyone notice the bizarre fade with the canned backing vocals left out there? What the hell was that? After they crushed the song.
More Cowbell!!!
Back when a band had no choice but to prove it.
Better believe it !
Nice, but no substitute for Lukather on lead :)
Is that Phil Lesh on guitar?
What the heck does Todd Rundgren have to do with this? It was written and sang by Fee Waybill.
Todd Rundgren married one of the dancers. Other than that, he produced the next album, not this one. David Foster produced + co-wrote songs from Completion Backwards Principle + Outside Inside, where this song is from.
Todd produced Remote Control too.
Deuce Bigelow sends his regards.
TOTALLY EIGHTIES!!!!
nice keyboards
That sounded really good for an 80s live performance.. most 80s bands couldn't do that..
Hardly any band from any decade sounds like this. Alabama and original SKYNRD to name 2.
Have you watched the 2001 concert he sounds just like this I believe he was 51 but sounds like he’s in his 30’s it’s great
@thebrandon0228 no I haven't.. there's a few bands from the 70s and 80s still playing that sound 10 times better live than when they were younger.. probably because they're not cooked out of their minds anymore.. lol

Aw😢
David Foster made this song.
What about Lukather?
@@chrislestermusic I guess there are three writers. Composers: Fee Waybill, David Foster, Steve Lukather.
They could never reproduce Lukather's guitar sound. This sucks.
dam young Bill Maher rocked out..
