I am speechless! Your school room is amazing. My oldest is three and we just started preschool at home. I can't wait to use a lot of your organizational ideas!
This was fun to watch. I was a teacher for many years, and I always loved looking at other teachers' rooms to get ideas. Your homeschool room is wonderful! Have a good school year!
Thank you so much for sharing! :) We're starting our first year of homeschooling this August for our daughter who's about to start Pre-K!! Very helpful!
Yes, they have a bracket to attach them to the wall. We did since they're so heavy and tall i didn't want them falling on anyone, but they're quite sturdy and probably wouldn't fall even if climbed on. Just didn't want to take any chances!
It's called Mavalus Tape, you can search for it on amazon. It just looks like white masking tape kind of, but it's GREAT! Holds things to walls then comes off without ruining the paint!
This is a beautiful room. I think it should also be noted that a lot of homeschoolers don't have schoolrooms. I have a basket by the couch. A closet by the dining room table. Backpacks ready to go to the library(while we wait for older sister who takes several college classes but doesn't have a driver's license yet). Plastic totes that the kids can take anywhere to work on things. My timeline goes down the hall. I have a whiteboard that slides behind a hutch when not in use. I have a dining room drawer devoted to notebooking, etc. Mostly my homeschool room is just my house with some adaptations. Just wanted to make sure that people know that you don't have to have a room. It's nice. If I could have a room right by my kitchen and laundry area, it would be awesome!! But being a single income family with lots of kids makes it impossible to have a room devoted to homeschooling. And homeschool can be done anywhere. Thanks for the nice video.
I think your classroom and organisational skills are wonderful. Im a teacher and love what you've done here. I'd love to be able to buy those ticonderoga pencils, we don't have them here in Australia. Also, Id love to see the organisation of other places in your house :) your pantry and everything else. Bet they're as great!! :) Cheers and thanks for showing us
Just a suggestion...Instead of running out of room on your whiteboard...use CHART PAPER---possibly posted on an easel (if you have room/ funds)...Easy to flip to the chart you are referring to--and post for the day/ week, then put away! Just a thought--from a teacher-friend! (praying to homeschool my own one day--this video really helps!) =)
Where do you get most of your homeschool supplies? My homeschool room is about the size of your classroom, but I don't know how I could get everything into one room...lol. I would really like to know where you got that cupboard....and how do you have time for yourself? I homeschool my son who is 5 1/2. He has Autism, so I have to work twice as hard. Very hard for me to find time to myself. You make homeschooling look easy. You are a great mom and inspiration! Thank you!
I wish I was homeschooled. :( I really hate public schools; kids on drugs; having to ask permission to go to the bathroom (and teachers never let you go...mostly); bullying; social anxiety on my part; troublemakers in classroom waste my learning time; lack of concentration, due to something always going on in the class; and kids there are so mean and rude. They judge you by your appearance, and you're forced to liking kids that don't even have the same interests as you (such as a common interests club or something); and, unlike homeschooling, you can't go at your own pace, whereas public school teachers 'don't have time, either you pay attention or it's a no'. It's so stressing. I've told my mom about it but she wouldn't listen. :(
winter droplet - you can do homeschooling! look up K12 virtual academy. It's tuition free and the work you do is independent - which means your mom doesn't have to teach you - she doesn't even need to be home. Look it up and get out of the crappy public school you are in!
Winter Droplet, I'm very sorry for what you deal with. our son now homeschools bc of his delays, health issues and he was bullied. I think the reason a lot of ppl are against homeschooling unfortunately is bc they think it's an excuse to sleep in and watch T.V and parents just believe that public schools are the same as when they were in school which is definitely wrong. ppl should understand better but they just like this go by false accusations and their opinions instead of the truth. I really hope you get to homeschool soon at some point. Good luck
The desks are from Ikea, If you visit my blog (link above in details) then hover over the "about us" link at the top, then click on the "Our Schoolroom" button.
Hi Erica! I'm sure you've covered this somewhere before but what products do you use to hang banners, posters, etc? I'm assuming you use something that comes off the wall cleanly? Thanks!
I have a couple of more questions I'm really interested in this. Are you allowed to teach other people's children? What made you homeschool your kids? Do they like home schooling? I just want to say thanks in advance and that I really love this room that you have made it is so colorful and well organized
Are your shelves tied/screwed to the wall? I want to buy those units but not sure if they are flimsy and need to be screwed to the wall. I know it's safer to do so but we are renting and don't want to damage this house. Thanks.
I know getting started can be overwhelming! I wrote a book called Homeschooling 101 that will help answer all of your questions on how to get started homeschooling, choosing curriculum, creating lesson plans, etc. tinyurl.com/a38obj4 I also have some getting started posts you can see here under the 10 days of homeschool enrichment: www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/mom-stuff And I have a getting started series that I just started in August that might help as well: www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/category/homeschooling-101

Great thanks, I will visit the links.
I just watched your old workbox video and after watching this one I'm wondering where do you keep your workboxes? I didn't see them in the room tour!
Hi Crystal, we don't use the rolling 10 drawer carts anymore. Instead we're using the Ikea drawers that hold up our desks to save on space :)
Oh okay!:)
If you go to my website (link above) and click on "About Me" then "Our Curriculum" you can see what we use for each grade.
Wow, this is a great tour!! :)

Thats what i call a classroom.

We don't have the money to create a class room like this one, I just sit at the table or well do work in my daughters room.
We have four children, and no I don't homeschool anyone other than my own children.
