This is an amazing homeschool classroom! As a single one income mother of 4...I can only aspire one day to be able to provide my children something this creative :) Very nice video!
Love it!! My husband and I have decided to homeschool our kids, we are going to use a room above the garage that looks just like yours, so you have given me good ideas 😆😉 thank you so much for this video.
Your homeschool room looks so inviting! I'm a teacher and I homeschool my son and know of the hard work it takes to just makes the room! Lol Excellent job and beautiful decor!
Really loved this video Jolanthe! Our former dining room is our "play room". It's something that I tried to avoid like the plague, but after a year with two little ones- I gave in. Now that we're an official homeschool family, I can very well see it turning into a classroom. You have great ideas that, and thank you for giving them to us so I don't have to steal. BTW I have that same bracelet.
Love your organisation. Im a teacher and Ive been in classrooms that are not this organised. Love to see what else you've organised in your house, eg pantry and other spaces :) Bet they're awesome.
This looks like a really nice system. I'm new to home schooling and have four kids. The Angry Birds game takes a lot of concentration for me little ones!
I got those same cork boards from target and they kept falling down it was so annoying! And when I took the hanging strips that came with it off the wall it peeled off the paint!
Everyone should clap for her she is just one woman with 2 hands and she used her money to buy all that stuff if those are her kids she doesn't want them to go she lovrs them to much and for her to do this plus be a mom she is like a superhero you go dont let anyone or comments bring you down you got it im only 11 and I think you are awsome you are
It's great to finally see the finished space, love it! How do you like the little passports? Also, is the table in the middle of the room also from ikea?
This reminds me of my previous home daycare center on base at Fort Lee, Va. It was filled with Ikea furniture which made it so fun and appealing to children. My favorite part was the framed pictures that are still framed and it's been about four years later. It looks like you have it all together. I am seriously considering homeschooling my children and do not know where to start. Which curriculum do you use? It seem so scary because you don't want to fail your children but I'm thinking it will go smoothly once I get started.
Lourie B - sorry! I somehow missed this comment. You can get a peek at what we're using this year (and what we've used in years past) in this post here: www.homeschoolcreations.net/2014/07/homeschool-curriculum-choices/ Feel free to email me with any questions you have!
Love the room! We also do Mystery of History (our 1st year), Easy Grammar, and Apologia Science. So I was wondering what you use for Math, since we seem to think alike. (Maybe you said it and I just didn't recognize it. I'm wanting to change for Jr. High (used BJU to this point). Mine don't struggle in math, but I'm leaning toward the DIVE w/Saxon to give myself a break. Any thoughts?) Thanks!
65 people gave it a thumbs down?? what in the world?! lol I guess there are 65 jealous people that have seen this so far. :| Love this ...we use our kitchen..I would love to have a special room. :)
When you began homeschool did you have all of these supplies or did you build up? I am looking at homeschooling my children and my biggest concern is the cost just to get going. I have tried to find used cirriculum locally with no avail. But I am also looking at a lot of your resources just furniture alone and it all seems so expensive. Can you give any advice on some of the cost of the materials you bought.
No - absolutely not! We didn't have this room until our 8th year homeschooling. Prior to that, we were at our dining room table, on the couch, kitchen bar area - and we definitely didn't have all the supplies. Initially I gathered a lot of the learning toys that we had for our younger kids and tried to focus on curriculum pieces that were re-usable from child to child (i.e. non-consumable). While I may have to pay more up front, I save in the long run because I don't have to repurchase them for future kids. The early years aren't super expensive, especially if you can find a used curriculum sale or find places online (ebay, homeschoolclassifieds.com, etc...) to purchase used curriculum. The furniture was a bit for this room, but you don't have to get everything that matches. :) Our last homeschooling area had various bookcases that we had collected from friends, thrift stores, and yard sales. Do what works for your family!! This was something we saved and planned for - for quite some time. It wasn't just a spur of the moment shopping trip. The planning alone was well over a year, and we saved up during that time (about $100/month) for the furniture. I hope that helps some - sorry for the long reply!
Chris Boyce. Do you have a Dollar Tree where you live ? I spent 2+ years building up a Sunday school room; supplies, decorations and all. I didn't even use church money. I worked and used cash out of my own pocket. I definitely had a formal classroom at some point. Everything for a dollar .....books, prizes, candy, snacks, drinks, crayons, markers, stickers up the ying yang. Also I'd go to church craft bizarres and I'd get more stuff cheap. Probably the most expensive thing I ever got for the school was a hardback children's version bible story book that I used to derive lessons from, I think it was like $25.00 from a christian bookstore. Only need one of those......good luck !
I am a little depressed now lol!! Fantastic room! WOW...and I am so intrigued by all your curriculum. Do you think you could email me a list, grades, subject etc?? I have 4 kids, ages 3,4 and 8,9 (they are both in 3rd grade).
Heather - our homeschool room has been many things and places over the years. We are super blessed to have a dedicated space in our current home. :) Here's a list of our current curriculum, but there are links in this post to years past as well: www.homeschoolcreations.net/2014/07/homeschool-curriculum-choices/
@@JolantheErb I stopped by your blog because I noticed the Nancy Larson Science 3 in your video and wanted to see what you thought :P thanks for the reviews! Looking into your Curriculum Choices for 2011-2012 though I saw that you used Homeschool in the Woods Time Traveler’s units which I am also interested in, but when clicking on it to see the review the page is not found. Could you link me to any reviews you've done of the units or just let me know what you thought about them/if they were worth the price? Thank you!
Sorry to bother you but, I have just been excepted into gramar school in 3 months. But at my current school I am being badly bullied. The teacher tried to stop it but it didn't help. Is there any point in homeschooling for 3 months?
Do your state have Connections Academy? Please ask your parent(s) to converse with them, or there are other Homeschooling options. My daughter went through that, though there's a Anti-Bullying/Bully law now. I pray all is well and God favor and protect you in what you are facing. Trust God, because He is faithful to see us through and bless us with wisdom and solutions and put people in our lives to help and guide us. God bless you and all is well.
of course, I know what homeschooling is, I'm not ignorant. I'm just saying that it doesn't sound like much fun doing the same tedious assignments as you do in school, but only with 3 other kids in the room
Do you still homeschool? What happens next year when the 6th grader goes to high school? Does the room still look like this? It's so cool :) As a teacher I just love this set up :)
Still homeschooling! Our oldest is 8th grade this year and actually working on 6 high school credits (and loving it!). Our room is pretty much the same - a few changes here and there (eventually I hope to share an updated video), but the main layout has stayed the same, we've just tweaked it as the kids got older and needs changed. Thanks for stopping by!
Jolanthe Erb Looking forward to seeing the updated room and interested to hear that you're still homeschooling your high school student. It has worked well for you :)
All of this just seems incredibly complicated. I'm all for home schooling but the kids are still forced to sit at a desk all day long, do their assignments, and it's just the 4 of them. Although some kids in public school aren't the greatest influences, I'd rather be in public school than sitting at home doing the same things but alone.
how do you know which books to get. i have a four year old and i',m trying to prepare for next year as i plan on home schooling when you buy a package do they tell you what books to get?
Amy - If you choose a boxed curriculum, typically they include all of the books that you might need. Other programs like Before Five in a Row (great for preschool age) would allow you to borrow books to go-along from the library. Here's a post that may help you when you are looking at curriculum: www.homeschoolcreations.net/2013/04/homeschool-basics-how-to-choose-homeschool-curriculum/
+Heather Magnolia are you asking about the ones in my desk bins (those are ones from Ikea) or the ones with all of our regular books? The ones on the far wall holding small readers are from one of the catalogs I get in the mail - a teacher's supply store. I had to buy a set of 12 of them (yikes). :)
+Courtney Boyce We've used both the world and USA versions - love them! Here are two links to reviews: hscreations.net/115FjjD and hscreations.net/Jb2Nvb - there is a current special on them as well.
your school room is 😍😍😍.ours is "cozy"!you used your space very well! i have a video of our minimalist school room on my channel.i would love for you to stop by some time!
Libby - this was several years ago. Right now our kids are 2nd grade, 4th grade, 6th grade, and 8th grade (but I think this was about 2 years earlier for each of them). :)
I am homeschooled and I have desk and a school room I am using my older sister account she is in college anyways it's only me and my brother but I like I am with grade and I have a eight year old brother and one year old sister and we go to a co-op cals

I saw this video before we had a homeschool room and found it so inspiring!

What an adorable homeschool room! So bright and inviting. Love it.

It looks very similar to our office. Same green on the walls and white shelves :) I chose that green because it was bright and cheerful.
Fantastic space. I love Ikea for our school area as well. You also inspired me to renew our Little Passports subscription!
Congratulations! You're so organized! I loved!
McKenna keeps her desk really neat!
Lovely ..Really really awesome :) I am currently homeschooling my daughter and at a later stage my two both .. Thank you for the inspiration
New subbie! New homeschool mom here. Wish I could give my kids more room you did an amazing job.
Regina Crystal Cordoba it was years in the making! We worked for years on the couch and dining room table (and still do sometimes!!).
its so fun to see We Choose Virtues on your morning board!
