Wow amazing to see you hook up with some fish there and I didn’t go today because I was hesitant if they were gonna have anything lol 😂, btw what time range were you out there at?
Does being enrolled in the marine fishing registry counts as a fishing permit in this area? I was watching this place and there’s a sign saying that you need a fishing permit to be there. Sorry I’m not that familiar with permits and licenses in NY.
hey, not too sure. I get permits through the DEC depending on the state. NY has a DEC website you can get permits from and is required to fish from this pier. They do check sometimes so its best not to risk it
The drag was not set correctly and sometimes I will do that to get a feel of how I need to adjust it without turning the dial. Turning the drag dial while fighting a fish can be a no no because drags can slip and you can lose the fish from lack of tension
@@ConeyIsland1952 hey coney, it’s a gulp sandeel. The one I had is silver/black. Not sure if they make other colors but the ones I get are silver/black and look like an albie snack
@@BobAquatic very interesting as a Bass angler sometimes I'd like to go try Saltwater fishing off the beaches I am so close and your videos are very informative and what weight Jig do you use Thank you
Weather and tides, moon phase. I spend a ton of time prepping fishing trips dialing it all in beforehand. It doesn’t always work out, but pattern fishing is how my brain breaks it down and is very productive
Now that's a nice day had! Catching at a few diff spots. A few diff species! Thanks for taking us along with ya! I frequently use that rig also. The bucktail tipped w sand eel. What size bucktail was that Bob? 1oz or less?
Hey! Yeah I love spot hopping with the waders. Thank you for watching bud, this was a 1/2oz bucktail im pretty sure. Probably could’ve gotten away with 1/4
That happens, especially as the waters warming on the new and full moon. Current moves the seaweed around. Try the ocean side if its bad like that or the river
Hey Steve hope you are doing well. Some anglers in NYC get mad at me when I mention spots so it’s just easier to avoid it. I’ve been confronted in person about it and don’t want to get bullied anymore. Hope you understand
@@BobAquatic i cant believe someone confronted you in person about that. As far as I know you do a good job of not mentioning spots. I dont quite get these dudes that get so bent about spot burning. Nice to see someone appreciating the robins every once in a while!

Nice inshore slam!

What size jig head are you using. I’ve been trying out the single jig technique and haven’t had much success with it yet
That is a 1/4 ounce jig head. Thanks for watching!

What is the rod setup you are using?
Bob love your Fishing Videos Bro what size Penn Clash II is it cus i want to buy one ?
What’s up bud! That one is a 2000 size. It’s really fun setup for moving around spot bouncing

Try the gulp jerk shad. Pink and pepper chartreuse has been working.
Heck ya, they work well. I’ll have to try that pepper chartreuse. Thanks bud fish on
Hello~ What fishing pole size? 7ft or 8ft? medium speed? fast speed? Thank you
I think that one is 9ft, it’s a 50/50 steelhead rod I’ve been messing around with for flats fishing

Bounce bottom
Nice! Newbie here. Why do you pull line out of the reel after you hook the fish?

I wonder if that jig would work well at a pier ?nice vid btw!
Oh yeah totally, all the lures in this video would work on a pier. Have fun out there!
you feel like the tides influence when you go or it doesnt really matter

"The smell is sooo baaad." NYC, I guess. ;-)
Man I been trynna get into fishing but i don’t know any good surf spot on Long Island and neither do I even know what I’m doing
We all gotta start somewhere. The best spot is always closest to home, its fun to learn your area first or wherever is the closest water.
I caught so many gator blues there last week no fluke :( But porgies in mid-July and a quiet beach
Congrats on the blues! Yeah that areas sorta like a highway, catch fish as they pass through. Fluke fishing from shore has been tough but it'll pickup
@BobAquatic went to the windmill and caught monster stripers two days back at around 11 Am i was trying to catch fluke thats I love my bucktails
Ah yea, you were on em! Sounds like a lot of fun

what’s the best time to go fishing?
Whenever you have free time honestly, I plan trips and also spontaneously walk out the door. Both work, have fun out there
Went there on past monday and too much seaweed hard to fish only hand one fluke
That happens, especially as the waters warming on the new and full moon. Current moves the seaweed around. Try the ocean side if its bad like that or the river
What bridge is that
Hey bud, I can't mention exact spots on here but it should be pretty easy to figure out with google maps
@@BobAquaticI understand but I’m not from NY and I do t recognize the bridge that’s why I can’t google it
Try Coney Island Creek
For sure, it’s fun back there. I’ll make a trip next week, thank you for watching
Nice bro If u Down Id Love to meet up and fish toge
Appreciate you watching! Hope to see you out there sometime
I know you don't eat the fish there but does anyone else?
I like to eat the fish sometimes, especially the blues.
Is that Jamaica Bay

If you have Google maps you can figure out where that is. It’s definitely not a secret spot. I caught one of my biggest blackfish at that bridge.
