This is a nice discovery because I have just gotten a Steam Deck and installed a remote play app and played XDefiant through that (works great with the wifi).
I Own the Asus Rog Ally Z1, And once i buy an Adapter for it to watch it from the main Monitor im going to try XDefiant on it. it seemed like it ran it OK but i only went into the Practice Zone so far. Once i get the Part i need, ill try the main game. fingers crossed - i subbed and liked, keep grinding !
ps i also do XDefiant content and other games as well, a Variety of Shooters/Looters FPS's Ect ect

i have tried a million methods but no matter what i do the second i get in a game i either get a error message delta 1 or charlie 1 then it crashes
I had that issue while testing things for this video, the PDH DLLs fix that, if it doesn't work I recommend trying that part again, if necessary, delete the whole app, delete the data files and try again :)

This was super helpful man, really appreciate it! I initially installed using Heroic launcher but performance was terrible. I reinstalled using your instructions and feel a difference (no clue why). Is there no need to implement a DXVK NVAPI equivalent on Portproton like other folks have to do on Heroic and Lutris?
It's installed automatically, but yeah, for some reason performance in port proton is better

Unfortunately COD has a kernel level anticheat that only works on Windows.
Absolutely brilliant, installed easily follwing this video and runs perfect. Now for a question, ran great for 4 days, when i click play in the ubisoft launcher, it starts to load ans says running but the game doesnt pop up, i get a black screen then jusy back to the same page....any ideas? So basically game will now not run
It's possible that there has been an update, unfortunately you have to check manually for updates in the Ubisoft launcher, for me it's still working fine.
Worst case scenario you have to reinstall, as this is not officially supported things can break often

@@JaseP320 have you tried reinstalling portproton? The DLLs might have gotten messed up, you can also try reinstalling that, during the testing for the video I did have to reinstall the whole app once

Whenever i open winetricks, the window doesnt load, it just shows a transparent screen
Do you have any other apps that might interfere? Bottles, wine, and such windows emulation apps, if not, I recommend simply uninstalling, clearing the cache and trying again :)
Theoretically could you use EA launcher too and run Wine enabled games like Madden 25?
theoretically yes, however, it's not possible due to EA's anticheat unfortunately
I got this working the other day and it worked pretty good.
But now, after the latest patch that was put through, the game won't launch anymore. Is this something that could have happened due to a patch with the game?
Yeah, since it's unofficial support this can break very easily unfortunately.
If it doesn't work, I recommend uninstalling everything (including portproton) and reinstalling again
What if you already have ubisoft installed? Do you still have ro install it again?
Yes, you would need to reinstall it :)

Unfortunately not, as the anticheat is different in that game :(

That's odd, if it doesn't show up you can try using their GitHub site here github.com/Castro-Fidel/PortWINE
I recommend using the installation with packages, as it's easier than downloading each dependency individually

@@batcher4788 if you go to the link in the other comment, and you scroll down a bit, you will see a section called "Installation Using Packages", just follow that guide and you should be able to install it :)

When I try to launch UbisoftConnect I'm getting an Error at hooking API "LdrFindResource_U" Any advice?
That's got to do with the drivers of the VM, I recommend uninstalling, removing all data, and installing again, see if that works, please also check if there are any steam os updates pending and if none of that works you can try installing a different version of the program by downloading directly from github.com/Castro-Fidel/PortWINE

You need to add Ubisoft connect :)

Unfortunately the only way to play valorant is by installing windows due to the anticheat

When does the crash occur? When you start a match?
it depends sometimes when I'm searching for a match, sometimes when I'm in the menu. It just crashes the game without a message. I never managed to play a match
I also tried it now and it crashed for the first time

@@xardat-s sometimes the DLLs get messed up, I recommend trying to uninstall everything, deleting cache and data, installing port proton again, and make sure that the pdh DLLs are installed correctly, other than that I can't think of anything else

@@Deckster978 Hey, so all this worked - thank you for that - however not sure if xdefiant had an update but when I logged into ubisoft through portproton, it said "download" xdefiant instead of play, but I can see in my storage that it's taking up space..do you know what to do

Hey! Which proton version are you running when you start the app? Did you do the dll part correctly?

Technically not against AUP, but you never know, so far, I haven't heard of anyone getting banned and I have been playing for some days without issues :)

Hey, unfortunately the only way to play on the steam deck is via Geforce Now
This game does not play well on Deck 😅 stutters are consistent, FPS are all over the place, it feels like a mobile game at best.
