I have a pile of poplar outside from todays job, probably a cord and a half. I dont have axes as awesome as his, but a few decent ones, this makes me want to swing them instead of using the woodsplitter. Thank you Billy Ray for the wonderful encouragement and kind reminder at the end of this and many other videos. The light is winning, your not nutty at all, just blessed and free.
Same here! Except I bought the power axe 350i, which even tho it's an electric, it honestly does NOT disappoint one bit! This is my first time owning one as well as even using one and while it does have it's limitations, I gotta say it's still a beast!
It’s always easy to split perfect straight grain wood. No matter what species. Drive that axe into some east coast yellow birch or some knots it’ll be not so impressive of course. Either way great work Buckin!!
I wish I had you to teach this woman in person. Then to teach other women. Few men know how to do this; fewer women can find hands on instruction to learn safety & secrets of the trade, at the same time. You make things look so easy.
Buckin I don’t deliberately hit the ground but I never worried if it happened once in awhile. I appreciate the way you are always teaching in your videos
un-related to this vid, but i watched your vid on sharpening chains.. first time i ever sharpened a chain, and took my echo 28" bar 620p out with hand filed chain, clearing heavy wooded area for cow pasture of hack beary, thorn trees, cherry, junk and dead trees!!! it was cutting better than when i bought it NEW!! no Joke! Thanks alot, keep up the good work!! Buckin' Billy Ray is BOSS
Iv said it before bit ill day it again, Mr Bucking thank you for showing us how to file a saw properly. As a young man I could cut all day thanks to you
tou're not nutz, just a hard workin ,honest, kind man that wants to show what he knows and pass it on .Keep on doing what you are doing. Thank you. God bless.
Man this video was so relaxing to watch....I totally enjoyed it!!!! And what a great idea to incorporate that split piece next to the one you are splitting to save out the edge😊😊💪💪🪓🪓GREAT IDEA!!! cool content brother❤❤much love to ya friend from ole Danny Barth🤝✊️🪵🪓🤷🪓🤷🪓
Makes me want to chop some more wood! I live in the city now unfortunately. But over my vacation in January, I got to chop some wood for a friend who has a bad back. I loved every strike! I have also run a couple chainsaws lately. I’ve taken your advice on both items. It has made it far more enjoyable!
Glad you finally got some snow the New Hampshire snow machine has been working overtime , been plowing my lot and building wall , working hard being honest but I am getting tested hard on the kind part . Thanks Buckin for the tips it helps me take a break from some not kind or understanding people lately..
You ever used Fiskars? I just bought one of their axes, a maul and a few different hatchets, and now I'm basically set for any kind of firewood or kindling I need splittin'! Haha 😄
Billy, I just found your channel last week when we got snow in Texas and I had some time. Still trying to decide between the 500i and the 572. I may have no use for one but I sure do want one!
Thanks for the info. I was wondering if I tried to do that, if the wood would come back at me but I didn't think about using the wood to protect your ax blade. The option is an engine driven wood splitter for a really bad back.
I use a chopping block near the wood furnace , so I don’t strike the concrete floor , I’ve got a tall one so no bending over because I mostly split kindling wood . In the bush I use a stump for a chopping block , it doesn’t move , solid . 🇨🇦👍
500$ used 5hp splitter no back problems with a x blade one split per cutting no broken handles no sharpening axe and OH if wait for freezing days wood splits very Easy
I have been watching Tin man and Iron Horse and i am thinking of giving porting and base gasket delete a shot on my big bore 372xp. I leaned out with a cracked fuel line. Its still running but the scope picture had a nice line down the exhaust side. Hearing that 86er is inspiring and now i have reason to open mine up. Billy your long handles just arrived today. I am pondering which heads are worthy of those monsters. Ru selling Buckin heads? I will show ya the first two when i get the plum and the collins on em
Billy, riddle me this. If one could only have ONE splitting axe which would it be? The wood bullet or? I know each ace has its place, but you can only have one.
Id kill to have wood to split like that. Im in NW Ohio and our wood is like trying to split a car tire bc where i live its a extremely flat and we deal with alot of wind.
EVERY BUSH SAILOR SHOULD KNOW THE THREE IN THE HAND KNOT WHICH IS A WEAVE KNOT TO TIE ANY SIZED LOOP WITHOUT USING EITHER END OF THE ROPE. AND IT ISNT A KNIFE KNOT...ITS A GOOD LOOP TO THROW ON THE HITCH WHEN YOU ARE PULLING A LOG OUT OF THE BUSH.
I SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE LOG PULL BUT IF YOU EVER NEEDED TO GET A DOUBLE HAUL ON ON A LOG YOU NEED TO TIE A BLOCK TO IT AND HAVE A SECOND DIRECTIONAL BLOCK TIED TO THE TREE. THEN TIE A BOWLINE TO THE TREE THROUGH THE LOG BLOCK THEN BACK THROUGH THE BLOCK ON THE TREE THEN TO THE TRUCK TO TIE YOUR THREE IN THE HAND TO THROW ON THE HITCH...OR BETTER YET USE A ROUND TURN AND TWO HALF HITCHES (DOUBLED up) THAT WAY YOU DONT LOOSE DISTANCE ON YOUR PULL TO SLACK LINE
i've zero problems burying my maul in the dirt. I take it as a sign of a good swing if the maul ends up 3" in the dirt tbh (no softwood here..red and white oak is my staple wood)
@BuckinBillyRaySmith your that was from the first tree I fell and milled. Couldn't keep a chain sharp and went to searching RUclips and discovered you the rest is history. Love you brother ❤️
An Amish friend wants to know your opinion on how to restore an old Mac (I think he called it a 1010). He wants to get it up & running for weekend use for his son.
I don't know it's hard to beat the Husqvarna for there aggressive saws like motor cycles Honda Yamaha Suzuki ECT but Kawasaki have the aggressive engines too 😊

Love ya 😊
Wanted to say I bought my first husky . What a fantastic saw.
Good choice!
@ it’s a 555 and with your teaching on how to file she cuts really well.
Great choice 😅
Same here! Except I bought the power axe 350i, which even tho it's an electric, it honestly does NOT disappoint one bit!
This is my first time owning one as well as even using one and while it does have it's limitations, I gotta say it's still a beast!
I gotta say, in every video I learn very great things. Thank you Buckin 🙏
that snot rocket at 4:55 was awesome, killing it man!
Lungs like a horse!

I was swinging the axe for a few hours yesterday, always a good time. That Bullet, I may need to pick me up one a them!
Hey buckin man that 86'er sounds good and really cuts. I like the tip about not hitting the ground. Thanks
Those 86ers are amazing builds. Nasty pull on that 32" full-house chain, bud. Love it! Maybe someday I will grow up and get one like those.. :)
You ever used Fiskars? I just bought one of their axes, a maul and a few different hatchets, and now I'm basically set for any kind of firewood or kindling I need splittin'! Haha 😄

Your not nuts but you are exuberant !
I use a piece of plywood about an inch thick or two thinner pieces.
