I really enjoyed your talk today and all those that I watched last year. Very informative and inspiring! The first show I watched , you were teaching a sharpening with the seven thirty second inch file, and it was the same way that I have been sharpening for the last 60 years. Open that tooth to the gullet. Just finished up my wood for the next couple years. My neighbor just cut his 250-year-old Burr. Oak tree down to the ground and I receive the wood for a forty dollar tip. I had been working on my sthil 461 but still wasn't running, so I used my 440 huskovarna, that my girlfriend bought me for my birthday(81) The rounds were three foot by twenty eight inches oblong. That little saw made firewood out of that Fifteen ton tree. A stock saw...couldn' believe it! You are correct about Huskies. Keep it going Mr. BILL...

I quit my programming job one summer and went to work for a guy who mowed lawns around the neighborhood. Best summer of my life 😊 Unfortunately I was a 30 year old woman with no physical work experience, so when winter was coming I saw no way to keep going. So I went back to the office. But I get it. Nothing like working hard and seeing the results of your labor at the end of the day. And feeling good and tired physically. 👌🏻☺️

Really gives you a sense that most people are inherently bad, I was a correction officer for 30 years, I know someone was saying where did you work that could be so bad. Anyway my point is that watching your utube channel has done more to change my opinion about people in a positive way than anything else. Thank you Mr Smith for just being a honest normal person. Wow...10 years.... you were in the right place at the right time to feel the Buckin Billy energy. 10 years ago i developed a sore throat that i just couldn't get rid of and it turned into a two year enlistment into the medical intervention for stage 4 throat cancer. As i was recovering watching RUclips videos and lots of tree failures, tree climbing since i was 5 and liked the high work of roofing and dangerous work of tree pruning and general landscaping. Well saw some comments on the tree videos that mentioned the name " Buckin Billy, and about a year later i looked him up.... not disappointed at all. Surprised and energized 👍👍👍 His honesty about his past, his passion for being sober and the family of his wife and children are the folks that convinced me to do better and be kind. I'm still a weirdo and rough around the edges but have improved immensely for the last 7 years. 🐾👣🎶💙
Just an observation Bucklin Billy. Doing an unofficial evaluation of my favourite 20 channels over the past 5 years and you by far have changed the least! your words,camera angle and home on todays share could easily have been a video from 5 years back because the message stays the same
We are better workin with our hands. It’s a fact. Didn’t realize it until I planted trees in the Canadian north. Now I’m starting up with a tree service in Campbell River in March. I’m grateful to have you as a role model in so many aspects beyond tree work. As always, thanks buckin billy ray and congrats on building such a community! See you around someday I hope :)
I tend to agree. My day job is a programmer, and I do enjoy that because I'm building something where I can actually reap the benefits of in the future, and it engages my brain and my creative juices, but I also crave working outside in my free-time, running a saw, building or fixing something with my hands. There's nothing like it. And my wife looks at me differently when I do those things as well! Just be careful because none of us are young forever, so you have to treat your body well. Work hard, but don't wear yourself out. Some jobs are only for young men, and you have to figure out how to transition into something sustainable.

That's what I tell my two. My son is 22 and was screwed over by the Covid thing over here in Scotland. Lost two years of his life for very little. He has picked himself up and is a model student at college helping others on modules they have trouble with. That's the kind of guy he is and I am so proud of that. My daughter is 19 and is working for herself in the jewellery and engraving business. Small beginnings but loads of talent and vast potential - she takes small jobs at the local coffee shop and stuff like that. I think we are looking good for the future, despite the naysayers.

I learned to use a saw when I was 10 45 years ago) my neighbor who sold firewood taught me (much to my father's distaste); he also taught me to drive a tractor, use a winch, etc. There was NOTHING I enjoyed more than hard work as a child and to this day. I was born in Plymouth, I can’t believe it… just can’t. I am looking forward to going back home just for a “bit!” Super excited! Time to maybe heal some old wounds with family. Used to go to the lake and swim as a kid! Anyone going should get some rootbeer at the stand by the lake (they sell it by the jug! Also rootbeer floats if it is still there! Used to go to the lake and swim as a kid! Anyone going should get some rootbeer at the stand by the lake (they sell it by the jug! Also rootbeer floats if it is still there!
