JackCarver10 I may be wrong, but in bass/guitar tuning theory, if it has an extra string to a standard tuning, (let's take an example: 6-String guitar: Tuning; DGCFAD -Alright, it is D standard. But when it is a 7-string guitar, it has the A note on the 7th string, and it is desonant, this means it doesn't works as an E tuned, where the E string, sort of gives the resolution to the anterior notes.) it is a Drop tuning.
It's A standard, aka B standard (7/5 string standard) lowered by one whole tone. It's a drop tuning if and only if the first string has been lowered, which is not true in this case. If you were to remove the extra string, you'd have D standard, which is E standard lowered by one whole tone.
@wongy1998 Chill out bro, I have four messages from you in my mailbox xD Alright, he uses an Ibanez K5, It's like a Soundgear. Amplification is Mesa Boogie heads, he scooped the mids completely. the stuff he does with that bass = amazing
@DMBassNVox Well, I gotta say. Fieldy runs his amp on friggin high Gain, some people call it "distorted". Not in the sense of a distortion pedal. Listen to Take A Look In the Mirror, the bass is utterly distorted by his amplifier
For people saying this sucks. Wtf His sound is instantly recognizable. The band KoRn isn't some pop band from Ohio lol... They are aggressive which is the point of Fieldy slap technique. When people think of slap bass they instantly think of KoRn, Red Hot Chilli Pepper and Tool period!
Yeah Justin Chancellor of tool actually plays with a pick but that's the best style for their music
And primus and funk
I want that BASS sound in my Adam's apple
Thats the bass #1.
On repeat daily. Thanx.
ikr! that's why i play by ear and awesome people like you getting these bass tracks up on youtube cheers man! :)
So percussive!
Always listen with good head phones. The bass is very low
Damn, those bass frecuencies! I thought it was going' to blow-up my headphones!
What's notes got to do with it?
His is a million percent lower on the verse
Sound
1:20 and 2:18 sound absolutely amazing
SOMETIN' TAKES A PART OF MEEEE
I always listened to the song on a crappy tv with no bass, and now I'm used to a version of the song with no bass in the verses, and it kinda slaps just as hard to me
when i heard the song "got the life" i had no idea what the bass sounded like, but this one stood out from the rest "oh this is the bass" i was really impressed i really liked the sound,When I heard the album "korn" "life Is Peachy" "take a look in The mirror" that bass is powerful it's so important just by listening to that bass you know it's about korn
listen to it in context
I love the sound of the bass in this song. It's almost like a drum. Heavy and powerful. You guys can't comprehend what I felt when I discovered that people think it's trash
It seems sloppy but apparently it fits perfectly to the song and the chorus is awesome.
Pqp que som do Caralho!!!
Gotta love drop A
It's Standard A
ADGCF
Djent sucks
JackCarver10
I may be wrong, but in bass/guitar tuning theory, if it has an extra string to a standard tuning, (let's take an example: 6-String guitar: Tuning; DGCFAD -Alright, it is D standard. But when it is a 7-string guitar, it has the A note on the 7th string, and it is desonant, this means it doesn't works as an E tuned, where the E string, sort of gives the resolution to the anterior notes.) it is a Drop tuning.
It is A standard. But he has such LOOOOOW tension strings....
It's A standard, aka B standard (7/5 string standard) lowered by one whole tone. It's a drop tuning if and only if the first string has been lowered, which is not true in this case.
If you were to remove the extra string, you'd have D standard, which is E standard lowered by one whole tone.
so disgusting I LOVE IT
Remember, there is always a difference between live and album.
To compliment the overall sound.
Easiest job in the world
flub flubby flub
fieldy is the shit! he has such a unique sound. essential to korns sound
@wongy1998 Chill out bro, I have four messages from you in my mailbox xD
Alright, he uses an Ibanez K5, It's like a Soundgear. Amplification is Mesa Boogie heads, he scooped the mids completely. But he doesn't use any bass effects, only distortion in songs like Make Me Bad or Got the Life. It's just pure slapping with his hand, strings hitting the frets.
@wongy1998 "Mids" are a range of frequencies, just like "Bass" and "High / Treble", google that stuff!
Idk why people hate fieldy so much, his bass tone is amazing and its like adding more percussion to the song whilst still a bit of bass, this mf inspired me to play bass. Also you hear him on dead bodies everywhere and that bass is qmazing and the song would be empty without it
people don’t understand how well this is engineered. it’s hard to properly capture the sound of a bass tuned that low.
WHAT! it sounds amazing! every note is like a fucking punch in the face! :D
Connor McMullan i would say it sounds more like a fart out of the ass than a punch in the face.
To me his tone seemed like it was meant to mimic the bass systems in the early 90’s it would rattle the license plate and trunk in general. If one drove by you would hear the bass and everyone is hit you would here a buzz with it
