I am glad to see this video! I rented this machine at Home Depot and the dept adjustment was setup wrong. It is slightly different than this one; you have to remove the pin and reinsert it to different holes to get the proper dept. The problem is: the pin was NOT engaged in any adjustment hole and they told me to just move the lever back to engage the mechanism and the opposite to disengage, not noticing that the mechanism was assembled wrong. Shame on you Home depot employees!!!

Any tips on how to figure out the depth setting? Seems like a very important aspect of properly overseeding with this machine (or any overseeder).

Can I aerate before using this? Then it will break apart the plugs for some top dressing.

Before you rent and overseeder machine first prepare the lawn by mowing the lawn down to 1 inch bag the clipping. Run the overseeder machine over the lawn empty with no seed this create slits on the lawn. Use a broadcast spreader apply your seeds. Then you could use your overseeder machine as you would use it and its normal operation.

why run the seeder without seed and use a broadcast? What not just use the dropper on this machine?
