I've been playing this game with out SKSE for so long since i learned the basics of how to install mods when i learned that vortex existed and now it feels like a whole new world of modding has opened up to me. Thank you sir
I would watch a video on getting MO2 instead of vortex because frankly vortex is not very good with mod conflicts and does not typically play well with having more than say 50 mods. MO2 is better for modding all fallout and skyrim games. Plus, MO2 once you get the basics of modding down is just overall better to navigate and use with ease. Also, know that practically majority of modding needs SKSE to run mods. This is for you and others who are looking into beginning their modding experience with skyrim. If anyone has any questions or needs help just comment below and tag me and I will answer when I can.

Same boat. I upgraded my entire system and then couldn't remember how to set up Skyrim again. Nothing was working, even ripped out my old hard drives and put them into the new build to try and get it to work that way, with no luck. This was the only thing that helped.

It made me irritated at the time, but if this works your recent video is a great guide as it wasn't made like 3 years ago with poor and confusing instructions for people new to modding. I followed the instructions almost to the letter but when I try to load the shortcut it tells me it failed to load properly. The only thing I could’ve done differently is that my file didn’t have .exe on it, does that mean anything? It downloaded like that on its own
@@ladydovahkiin4352if you don’t know what exe means it means executable, as in an actual intractable program if it has anything else it isn’t considered a real “app” that you can run like Skyrim.exe
I got the special edition, the steam just tells me it got me the anniversary edition, so i download both versions anyway, both say that either the Script or skyrim is not the right version despite all scripts being the current patch. Wtf

First off, can I just say your videos are so easy to follow along, thank you for watering down the step by step to those of us who aren’t super versed in computerspeak…… Having said that, I finally figured out how to install what I wanted, but did it mid game and now Serana’s face is blacked out but the rest of her looks normal. Any ideas?
@@c4chanse I uninstalled a face sculptor mod, and that seemed to have fixed it for Serana herself, but the other vampires still are running around with their faces totally blacked out. I have no idea on that one!
The only thing I would do differently is zip the SKSE data folder and load it via a mod manager. That way if you ever want to install you can just delete the files in the directory and deactivate the data / scripts.
THANK YOU mate, I've spent many a day trying to get SE to work properly on my PC with no luck, All other tutorials I've seen don't go into the specific versions needed, or they're doing it on a completely different OS to mine so nothing appears familiar.
id also like to point out: you can modify the skyrim launch options on steam to launch skse instead of the regular executable by putting: "C:/(skyrim folder)/skse64_loader.exe" %command%
@@MichaelMiller-rl8pe for me it worked by copying it into the folder that skyrim se.exe is located in i.e. the directory and then stariting skyrim. hope that works for you!
Really simple and easy to follow along with. It's been 2 years since I last modded SSE so I've forgotten everything. Do you know any good mod lists for a returning player with decent hardware?
if you have extensions hidden when looking at files (is default for windows) then it won't show the .exe, but the two you mentioned above are the same launcher
@@thejourneyman6111 It varies slightly depending on what version of windows you have. Google "how to show file extensions (your version of windows}" then just follow one of the guides that comes up
After about 20 hours or so of playing around with mods for the first time and being so overwhelmed i finally got it to work! I've followed all the tutorials for setting up mods via nexus and vortex. But this was THE ABSOLUE KEY PIECE that i was missing. Thank you sooooo much man you really helped. Only question i have is will i have to use the SKSE Launcher everytime to play with these mods or is it a one and done kinda deal?

Hey I am having a problem regarding the SkyUI. The inventory takes too much time to load. I am running the GOG version 1.6.659. I have installed SKSE64 exactly like you did. Also installed the SkyUI using the MO2. Still no luck.

But now I followed this for the most common version, and the game launches be right when it gets to the home screen where I can start a new game or continue, it crashes. @chanse I downloaded the current version of SKSE (2.2.6). I was following the tutorial video on how to do that on Vortex Mod Manager but got confused when the options for downloading SKSE were not the same for me as they were in the video I was watching. Regardless, I downloaded it via the Nexus website instead of through the Vortex mod manager app and followed the installation instructions in the ReadMe file within. After doing this, I launched the game via Vortex. Everything seems to be fine, if I open the pause menu and go to system, it says that I'm using the current version of SKSE like it's supposed to. WHAT I'M CONFUSED ABOUT: SKSE seems to be working for me, but when I go to the Mods tab in the Vortex mod manager, SKSE isn't in the list of mods. In the tutorial video I was watching (which was made by Nexus Mods), they download SKSE though the Vortex app and then it shows up in the Mods list. So basically, I have two questions: 1. Why wasn't I able to download SKSE via the Vortex app like they did in the video? 2. If SKSE isn't showing up in the Mods list (even if it's working), is that a problem? Please help, thanks. EDIT: I think I've answered question 2 myself - SKSE isn't showing up in the Mod list on Vortex because I didn't put it in the Mods folder within the Skyrim game folder when I moved the files from the download folder. @@c4chanse nothing specific to modifying vampire appearances. I have better Breton presets, though, think it could be that?
I don’t think so. If you’re using vortex you could try the purge mods button and see if maybe it’s leftover from another mod

Followed step-by-step, when I go to open skse_loader shortcut I get "Couldn't find SkyrimSE.exe. (00000002)
