Hey bud I just set it to update when I launch the game through steam but I just launch it through the skse it's still the 2.2.20 version I believe that's still good right?
@christopher That is fine enough for preventing updates, correct. Just remember to not accidentally click play on Steam when there is an update and ensure Steam is always open before launching with SKSE, otherwise an update can still trigger (which is why I showed the other method in the video).
Spend 30 minutes stopping Todd from destroying you're mods. Spend 2 hours installing mods. Play the game for 15 minutes, get bored, close game, and repeat after 4 months.

Man thank you so much! Yesterday i wanted to play a couple of hours of skyrim and then i found out it had a new update. I thought my entire modded game was screwed but luckily i found your video. Super simple and clear instructions. Thanks again!
What's frustrating about the constant updates that Skyrim gets is that the base game is over 10 years old and special edition is 7 years old. These updates are not meaningful either. They dont add anything to the experience aside from a way to make more money. Yeah you can support mod authors but you could already do that with websites such as Ko-Fi. At least when an old game like Left 4 Dead got its update Valve introduced a new map.
Most of the updates previously, I’d definitely agree. But I wouldn’t say the most recent update didn’t add anything meaningful. We got extended ESL support, Creation Kit upgrades, good number of bug fixes (especially vital for console), ultra wide for PC, Steamdeck support, updated Creations system which makes it so the game no longer requires updates every time new Creations are added (this is a big one), etc. And not everyone wants or even can mod their game with SKSE64, which is the only group of mods typically affected by updates (due to version dependency). What BGS does need to do though is offer multiple builds via the beta functionality on Steam.

Bro thank you so much haven't been able to play Skyrim through vortex for many of months didn't know how to fix it until I watched your video much appreciated
Thanks. I knew most of this and already had set skyrimSE to only update on launch and since I launch it with MO2 it was not updating and already still at the version you identified. However, I was unaware of the manifest files, mine is now at read-only, thanks a bunch.
Love your videos. This is so frustrating in general. For some reason all my mods now are saying they aren't available so I did something wrong. I guess I'll wait until they're done and upgrade to latest and hope for the best. I will definitely do what you suggested so it never upgrades again. Fortunately, I just remembered, I'd made a drive backup back in July so I should be able to restore the whole damn folder.
I once saw a tutorial doing this that was 10+ minutes long, while this one has everything I wanted on the first 4 minutes, thank you so much sir, nice vid
This is really how Tutorials should be done, no wasted time, clear and easy to follow information. The fantastic voice does help too.- sub for future content
Thank you so much for the tutorial, I was going crazy trying to figure out how to downgrade my Skyrim SE. Steam auto updated to the lastest version and made all my mods on MO2 useless with the latest patch.
Absolute legend, I was devastated when I saw my game updated, thought I broke updates but some games still updated themselves automatically. Which isn’t a problem with modded terraria but is for Skyrim
The trick of setting a file as read only is new to me. Thanks for pointing it out. I've set 'don't update this game' in steam itself after the release of the anniversary edition and downgrading immediately. So imagine my surprise when suddenly the game *had* updated despite me having it set as 'don't update'. This file setting will add another layer of protection :)

when downgrading to 1.6.1130, the last console command download says: Depot download failed : error writing chunk for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_489830\depot_489832\Data\Skyrim - Textures3.bsa". Can someone explain pls?
I wish I had known all this before AE broke my game originally. But, thank you, I know now and can benefit.
BTW, the close-captions are hilarious.
Thank you! ❤

This guide saved me man !
I appreciate your effort over 9000.
Thanks
Thanks. I knew most of this and already had set skyrimSE to only update on launch and since I launch it with MO2 it was not updating and already still at the version you identified. However, I was unaware of the manifest files, mine is now at read-only, thanks a bunch.
Thanks! Someone get this guy more subs, you should be 100k+ top quality video, real clear and concise right to the point a million thanks man
Bruh, you saved my Skyrim so much. Thank you! Subscribed!
Ayy, it worked! You're a lifesaver, man
THANK YOU! This was driving me insane, easiest guide to follow and straight to the point.
Thank you so Much!!!
That worked! I thought I had to give up on this game but now it works again, thank you so much!
Hey man I just want to thank you, I built my first and new pc and was tryna play modded Skyrim but it kept crashing, this fixed it
This is really how Tutorials should be done, no wasted time, clear and easy to follow information. The fantastic voice does help too.- sub for future content
I've been trying to fix my mod list for two days. You are a lifesaver
Easy to follow. Concise. On point. Thank you!
This helped a lot, my 90gb load order was obsolete after the updates and I'm happy I'm able to play again with my Khajiit tysm :3
Clear, concise and accurate. Exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Steam loves to occasionally reset download settings, so that’s why I prefer mentioning the manifest method. Hope it helps! 😊
Hero! here take my like, my sub and my best goat
