      i realize this guide is supposed to be less intimidating, but from what i can tell, it's just as hard as it has always been since 2014 when i first started modding skyrim, and that process took me years and years to get down.
      and i hate to say this because i like MO and used to use it for a really long time, but if you want to have people install mods the easy way, it's to use NMM instead of mod organizer as that's mostly a easy streamlined install process in comparison to using MO, even installing SKSE is far easier to do using NMM, but with that said, MO is better in many other ways as NMM can be a bit too simple and restricts some things you can do in MO.
      then there is the collections process, sure it costs some money, but it's far faster and very cheap depending on what you get for using that process, because you could have a masterfully made modlist in a matter of downloading the entire collections pack in one click and get to playing your game in no time, the MO process takes far longer and is far more complicated, something that simply can't be taken too lightly for beginner users who are new to modding their games on PC.

      also please ignore NMM, because it's ridiculously easy to figure out in comparison.
      i would start on using NMM for beginners, and then graduate to using MO when they become more confident in learning these other programs, because NMM is modding for kindergartner modders, where MO is modding for people who really know their shit, i know because i spent years learning about it and it was one hell of a frustrating hair pulling process.
      so yes, please ignore me, just because some random person on the internet says so because reasons...

    Something you should definitely add to this video is that you can mix and match texture mods and even some meshes by hiding specific textures and each mod by double-clicking on a texture mod and selecting the conflicts tab then right click on the texture you want to hide after viewing it and select hide. This will cause whatever texture was loaded underneath it to move to the top. This feature is super easy to use and is really good for creating the perfect overhaul for cities as you can use the landscape textures from one mod but then the building textures from another

    Great guide! I just wanted to add that not all mods will show their requirements in the download pop-up, it depends on whether the author has enabled the feature for that file. So it's best to always check the requirements on the description page.
    Another thing worth mentioning is that since LOOT was added as a standalone program to MO2, there is no need to use the integrated sort system in MO2. It uses an outdated version of LOOT, so best to ignore the sort button and always launch LOOT from the executable list.
    Finally, it's worth considering installing Skyrim outside Windows protected folders (Program Files). Some people say that the game being there can be a source of problems, though I don't know if that's true. Either way there is no harm in installing it somewhere else.

    • @Igzilee

    Small correction / suggestion: Use MO2 in a portable instance. This was how MO originally worked and here is why it is better: When choosing „global“ your data gets stored in a AppData folder that can be accessed with the good old %appdata% however when choosing portable instance all the files for that instance will be stored in the MO2 Folder. This makes installing multiple MO2 instances way easier and also makes relevant data easier to access.

      @brianl4137 6 месяцев назад

      Is there anyway to change this is you went off his tutorial?

    • @dakota_kiwi
      @dakota_kiwi 6 месяцев назад

      @@brianl4137 on MO2, go to "files" in the top left hand corner, click the first option in the drop down menu "Manage Instances", this will result in a pop-up window. From here, select "Create New Instance". This will result in a new pop-up window, that being the one you saw when originally installing MO2. Select "Create a portable instance" and then follow the rest of the set up as shown in the video from the point where he selected to create a global instance.
      Do note: you will have to re-install any mods you added, including tools added in the same process as mods, such as Nemisis (the first tool he showed in the video).
      To delete the pervious (and now unused) files, mods, and so fourth from your computer (those currently taking storage up in your AppData folder), you will need to delete the original instance (the global instance made by following the video exactly).
      To do this, again, open MO2, go to "files" in the top left hand corner, click the first option in the drop down menu "Manage Instances". In the pop-up you will now see "Portable" followed by "Cache", along with the original "Skyrim Special Edition" (or whatever version you have, L.E., S.E., A.E., etc). Simply select the Skyrim one (in my case "Skyrim Special Edition"), and on the right side select "🛑Delete instance", then delete to bin or completely delete, and voila!
      Note: A portable instance is only benefitial if you are only modding one game, or plan to/need to move your mods all from one computer to another.
      To quote the MO2 Wiki, The disadvantages of using a portable instance are that "managing multiple games requires multiple installations of Mod Organizer. This makes it more time consuming to update Mod Organizer and more difficult to switch between instances.'
      and 'that the portable instance files are mixed with the Mod Organizer installation files, which can lead user errors when manually messing with either. Keeping them separate and distinct would be safer.'
      Read the wiki page on instances here: github.com/ModOrganizer2/modorganizer/wiki/Instances
      I hope this helped you or anyone else reading. Have fun modding!
      Edit:
      Forgot to add, while you will have to reinstall mods and tools you had on the previous instance. Files you added directly to the skyrim game folder (something like this: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition), such as SKSE and ENB (the two installed in the set-up part of the video) will not have to be reinstalled as they are seperate from MO2, and you shouldn't have to remake a new executable for them either (the things in drop down bit near the run game button).

    First of all, excellent video. I was able to follow it clearly and had no issues setting it up. I also generally tend to find that if you are not used to modding Skyrim or have very little experience using mods, its best to stick to mods that do not require any additional mods (so base game only). This will help you figure out how they work when you're just getting started.

    For those asking about videos for Ending.
    There is nothing deeper nor darker then the Rabbit hole that is modding. Just some unofficial patches and bug fixes that's all you need...Then you trip and fall further then Alice could ever dream of. Then 1k+ mods later you might actually have an hour of play invested into all the weeks of setting up the mods. What's next you ask?? Well the answer is the next game on your list of course.
    For me it started with Fallout 4 as I had it before Skyrim. Then I finally got to move to PC and that is when the real addiction took hold. I now have multiple instances of the same game just because sometimes I can't choose and the mods don't agree with one another. Currently I have Tale of Two Wastelands and some mods for it ( YES!! lets mod our mods woot!!), Fallout 4 (lightly modded at only around 300 or so mods/patches), Skyrim, which is currently running sweet with close to 600 mods/patches. I even started modding SIMS 4 (damn you CurseForge). Then, then I found out you could also mod online games. So FO76 and ESO have now gotten a few tweaks.
    And least we forget, even more fun. When the game or the main mods you use get an upgrade and everything breaks *sigh*. Or like as of late there are phenomenal DLC sized mods bursting out on to the scene that you just have to play and have to rework your entire order to play. I have been modding for less then a year. I spend a hellacious amount of time bouncing between mod pages, bug posts and RUclips to make sure I have the complete picture. My roommates have threatened to pull an intervention, as I spend more time doing that then I do playing the game, or watching anything else. They actually cheered the other night when I finally sat down to watch the newest Dungeons and Dragons movie (Horrid, horrid Dragon in that btw).
    All in all I would say there is no chance to escape, no ending, EVER! We are forever stuck in this loop. Our only choice is to ban together and help each other support the needs of our addictions. Side Note: There are already mods for Starfield. SMH. There is no End in sight.
    May your game not crash and your mods not break.

    I don't know if you made one or not but have you thought about putting together A mod pack of what Skyrim should be Using the mods you have Showcased In Your other videos And have you thought about making a Overhaul video about the Skyrim Civil War since it's pretty much unbeatable without the use of mods because of the NPC essential Settings.
