Rock on the Range, 2009 I apologize in advance, you can hear me singing along in some of the video (luckily I can sing worth a damn, so it isn't obnoxious.)
Old comment but but thats how you can tell legendary professional drummers. They can follow the structure but they have so much repertoire that they can just improvise whenever they want. Alot of drummers will try to focus on playing everything the same exact way without improvisation which is still fine considering the whole point of a drummer is timekeeping. The Rev is legendary!
RNOblivion only other drummer I’ve known to do that is Jon Fishnan from Phish. But I’m assuming if you’re an A7X fan, you probably don’t like Phish. Fishman is insanely good.
This has got to be my favorite performance of "Chapter Four" on RUclips. Everybody is on top of their game, especially Matt. His voice here is just the best it has ever sounded. These days he is really struggling with his screaming, which is more of a shout at this point. His screaming here is really powerful and his voice was still full of rasp.
Look how happy the whole band looks, especially Syn and Matt. Man and like after they lost the Rev, they just look so sad like especially Syn in the So Far Away video and Shepherd of Fire. Makes me feel for them. And then I hate when interviewers bring up the Rev constantly and you can see the pain in their eyes. foREVer🤘
I feel like they finally managed to kinda get over it. They were definitely searching how to do new music since they lost The Rev and I think that Nightmare shows how they first felt about it and that Hail To The King was just a mess that reflects the fact that they were just completely lost at that time, not only as musicians but also as individuals. However, The Stage is in a totally new (and really good) style, and I'm sure it's because they finally got over it and therefore are able to be more productive.
@@bousculade1035 Jimmy participated in the creation of the nightmare. I think the stage is the first job where they seem to have found a direction in how to create music after his death.
@@bousculade1035 yeah but one fucking look at them you could totally tell they were doing speed heavily except Shadows, he still looks healthy till this day Syn, Zacky and Johnny all look dark and depressed they’re looks changed rapidly those 2-3 years after the Rev died, Back then I didn’t understand it and I knocked them heavily for it but now years I get it, Jimmy’s death shocked the world, I mean everybody was looking at them they had a lot of publicity and gained so many new fans from 10’-12’ they had no choice but to show everyone they could come back and still have it in them and keep that momentum and that fire going , with a heavy touring schedule to it was no longer a let’s be young, play out music, have fun and party every like it was from 04’-09’, they had now had a undeniable reason they had to keep going, and that’s the only way if you’re going to survive after something like that happens to you, they were the perfect band, flawless in every way, why did that have to happen to them, 4 albums just wasn’t enough
Dude listen to all those improvised fills the rev does, some of them are pure fucking genius. Its no bullshit when I say, Ive missed the rev everyday since the day he died. I cant stop thinking about it a year and a half after he died, I can only imagine what the band is going through to this day.
- this song is awesome - noticed that shads hair is long and brown - live performance of chapter 4 is great - rev still rocks! - band still rocks!! - oh avenged please release new album cant wait!!!
Man... the things I would do just to go back to see them during this time. Travis, I hope you know how lucky you are to witness a show of this legendary status.
Epic as concert I swear a7x will never be the same without the rev... Crazy loss but I guess life moves on , except coming back to jimmys live sets that's wen I feel like he's alive #foREVer
Hahaha 3:34 -zacky is all like oh yeah man can you feel the music, are you feeling this shit. Then there's synyster like playing it cool, yeah it's all cool
As soon as I read the description, I thought "Ah crap, another annoying video that you can ONLY hear the guy recording." I can still hear the band, and thank God you can actually sing.
I was there..but I had to leave..I drove all the way to ohio just to see avenged sevenfold..since theyre my favorite band..and I didn't even get to see them..I just watched this video and literally started crying.
@Dryftburn they will be at uproar this year, they took 20 songs the fans voted on and will rotate the set list every night. Some of the songs are this, second heartbeat, lost, not ready to die, dancing dead, crossroads, I wont see you tonight pt 1, afterlife, gunslinger, a little piece of heaven, bromptin cocktail, unholy confessions, and a few more. Def gonna be an awesome tour!!!!
It’s cold tonight as the clouds turn gray and from my hands to my brothers grave “You took his sight, you took his gift.” Feel the power of a fallen man Man, a7x has the best lyrics
@maplepop I could be wrong, but I think he was doing what Mike Portnoy does, which is to have a double-bass set up and a double-pedal setup next to each other. He doesn't play both at once, but can switch back and forth.
me and my friend always argue about new and old rock, im into the older stuff and he likes the new stuff, but it was always a good arguement until....he went to rock on the range and its like 30 new bands all at once and he said the soccer feild was full and about 20 rows into the bleachers was full...so i go to a paul mccartney concert and i told him the whole feild was full, every seat in the bleachers was full, and there was about 4000 ppl outside trying to get 1 glimpse of sir paul. I love how The Rev never plays the same song live in the same way twice. Every single variation is a goddamn gem!

i can tell you from experience that it gets extremely boring to play whatever you wrote in a studio every
night over and over again
Some bands can do that children of bodom can't mostly cause they were always drunk and couldn't play it at the right pitch
This was the Rev's last show in America :(
Dylan Navarro 😢
It was in Sonisphere 2009
Pablo Bomgiorno That’s why he said America. Sonisphere was his last show, but in a different country.
@@uriahthewizard Cool
Sonisphere was in Europe

Holy shit, blast from the past. Matt's screaming, Jimmy's using his triple bass kit, and Zacky's wearing his ball cap and charcoaling his face.
Good to see they still play this stuff live. :)

Awesome Video! They really put it down on Sunday... I was right next to one of the pits and it was crazy!
I was here. 18 years old. Lost my brand new shoes. The good old days as they say!
man they need to bring this back for their next tour. Chapter Four is their best work hands down
They started off 2009 having a good time playing shows going on tour but they never knew the year would end so traggicly. RIP Jimmy
It annoys me that Matt always sings "look to the sky where have you gone?" live and not the original lyrics "where has he gone what have you done?"
This is one of my favorite Avenged Sevenfold songs ever!!
OMG THIS SONG SOUNDS AMAZING LIVE
Thats like the perfect chorus for an entire croud to sing
Good old prime days of a7x, 05-10

"Oh shit, guitar solo, better record the vocalist some more" Lol thanks for the upload though.
the best live version of this song
The last American one. They played a couple Sonishphere shows after in Europe. But either way, it was a privilege to be there at this show.
