This is the video I wish I had when I was replacing the radiator in my Duramax.
Here is the link to the Fel-Pro O-ring I mentioned in the video. It's still holding strong!

Thanks for the video brother. I saw your other video on the O'Reilly lower rad hose O-ring. Good info!
I pull a 50' wedge and my LBZ radiator sprung a leak 14 hours from home in Wildwood FL. Advance brought me one and I put it in on the side of the road with a china freight tool kit! Lesson #1: Have a good toolkit in EACH vehicle...no more going cheap. Lesson#2: Have a better flashlight...cellphone battery doesn't stick with you for five hours. It was a real lesson. Put the hoses back on and the lower rad hose o-ring didn't like the new radiator and started leaking, my trans-cooler line also started leaking because the Advance o-ring was damaged. Ended up replacing the ENTIRE hose assy and put a new GM radiator in...problem solved and on my way home. WHAT A TRIP!!!!

    Thanks
I was about to tackle this on one of a boss's work trucks where I had accidentally drilled a hole in the radiator. However after saying your video I realized some of the tools that were vital I have at home and don't have access to today and it's the day before Thanksgiving. Therefore I decided to put this off four more days! Thanks again

Leave the top radiator hose off after connecting everything else. The first 4 gallons can be poured into the radiator quickly and then connect that hose to the radiator and finish the last portion of the fill through the overflow tank.

There is a bolt on top of the head, loosen it to help purge the air out. (It’s really hard to get a wrench on it. It’s right next to alternator and behind the motor oil input.) I had a coolant leak in my radiator. it was a Mishimoto radiator. With a life time warranty :) sent photos of the spot leaking a new one came 4-5 days later. I had 2 bad o rings on the oil lines. I’m waiting for the store to open tomorrow. Harder to get radiator out then to putting it back in. Ez job, Thanks for your help!

Just ran Accross this video and several things I found! I have a 2016 3500hd Silverado ltz dually. First my fan shroud was all one piece. Made getting the radiator out and new one back in a nightmare! My cross member did not come off either. After putting everything back together I checked the bottom radiator hose like you did and sure enough it leaked! Went to several auto parts stores and found the o-ring you referenced. It will not work on my truck. My o-ring was a lot thicker than the gel-pro o-ring. Ended up having to buy a new lower hose! No one had it except the Chevy dealer! Guess what? They were less expensive than any other place I could order one from! So be aware!

I have a 2015 duramax 2500 and the VW o ring is too skinny. Dorman 926-160 o ring is same as OEM. I also had to cut the fan shroud in half with a multitool in order to get the radiator out and then Frankenstein it back together with wire ties and plastic weld.

Google vacuum radiator tool....there's a air-operated gadget that creates a vacuum in your cooling system. It will flatten your hoses and then you use that vacuum to completely fill the cooling system without having to pour the stuff in for 15 minutes etc.
