If BYU and Indiana win out they'll be fine.
Remember, it’s the five highest rank conference champions. There is no language in there concerning power or G schools.
The only language concerning a G5 school is if no G5 school makes it out of their own. Merritt therefore is given the 12th seed and they still have to be the highest ranked G5 conference champion.
You keep making the same mistake. Same as a lot of other people you’re assuming that a G5 school can only be the 12th spot that’s wrong. You do realize a G5 school could be ranked as high as number one or anywhere in between they’re not solely locked into the 12th spot.
“Can you tell me the difference between Indiana’s and Miami schedule?” One is 43rd SOS and one is 107th. Has UM’s been hard? No, but Louisville and Duke are both better wins then anything IU has done and you could make the argument UF and VT are still better wins then Washington.
The only decent win is Louisville. Miami’s other wins are just as weak as Indiana, except Indiana has left absolutely no doubt to how good they are. Miami is barely beating scrubs
Spencer, CFP are humans that have no incentive to prop up new comers to top 12 like Indiana and BYU. If they did and they end up losing 1 or 2 games they don’t want to be ridiculed. If they rank them lower and they are forced to put them in the top 5, they will say they earned it on the field versus top teams in conference. IMO a 1 loss ACC or B12 teams will get in before any 3 loss SEC or B1G teams. The unwritten standard will end up being. P2 - 2 loss teams get in CFP. 1 loss ACC/B12 teams will need SEC/B1G teams to have their 4th ranked teams to have 3 losses to have a chance at a second team getting in the CFP.

Almost every argument that is made here for Indiana goes double for BYU.
The SEC had such nice helmets in 2023 and they’re the same in 2024-how can’t they choose the helmets!!! Alabama has no justification for being in the Top 12. I love their helmets though-past players wearing those helmets have done very well on the football field!
I just think they have 3 games left to shut up the people who vote. They aren't a SEC team or they'd been Ranked 6 or 7.
As it stands today, the so called power 4 conferences are going to have an undefeated or one lost teams, Boise one lost team that’s your top five right there those five conference champions if they all win out.
Money is always the main factor .
BYU can lose to both Utah and Arizona State. Then what?.. Also, what do you think will happen to Lincoln Riley if USC loses to UCLA?

I mean who cares? They have an opportunity to prove themselves against Ohio State.
Indiana is new comer to the college playoff conversation. Every newcomer has to prove they belong they never get the benefit of the doubt.
That’s true for college football teams, new team members at work, if you’re the new guy trying to get picked for a team at the rec center, and the list goes on.
This selection process has always been highly subjective and the comité doesn’t yet trust that teams like Indiana or BYU can compete with the teams that are always in the conversation for the playoffs.
It’s up to the Indianas and BYUs of the world to earn that trust by winning enough games to get to the playoffs and then win games in the playoffs.
Trust is earned not given and the subjective, human committee will always go with the teams they trust to compete at the highest level.

I basically agree with what you are saying, but it’s really just a nicer way of saying that it is biased. Bias is wrong whether it is for an understandable reason or not.
Fair enough. I'm a Hoosier fan and we scheduled the 3 easiest non- conference so we could get to 6 wins and a bowl. They were supposed to play Louisville again but had them removed. They used to play Kentucky every year and had them removed long ago. They would've beat them 17-21+ points this year and then could compare that to Georgia or Tennessee vs Kentucky, but thats on IU
