He was happy at JMU and intended to stay... he saw IU as a solid opportunity at the next level. Now he is in the Power 4 and the B10 is arguably the best overall conference in the country. If he is winning here... why bail for what might be a lateral move. Just be the best in the B10 and kick everyone's ass in year 1. He said it at the Basketball game and is backing his words up.. IU is not western michigan. They have the resources to compete with the best in the SEC and the big ten. The only thing holding it back was coaching and players.

When Bob knight first came to IU he was the Curt Cignetti of IU Basketball. My memory is getting a little foggy but as I remember it, when Branch McCraken retired his assistant, Lou Watson took over but he was a poor coach and Indiana basketball was so-so for a couple of years. Then Lou Watson was replaced by Bob Knight. In those days only league champions went to the NCAA tournament, and there was no big 10 tournament. As Bob Knight put it, the Big 10 season is our tournament. So IU won the Big 10 and went to the tournament where they played John Wooden's UCLA, and almost beat them. This was the same team that Lou Watson had the year before and Bob knight inherited this team. That is the differance a coach can make. And now we have coach Cignetti.

Watched the whole video but didn't hear any reason why Cig would stay other than you think IU is cool. But I'd temper your enthusiasm with this: When you bring in 31 players via the transfer portal...and almost half are from a very good JMU team...that isn't the way to build a program. I've lost count of the number of IU fans who constantly put UK down for their one and done basketball program....yet the very same folks don't see IU has done the very same thing!

Haha IU is cool tho. Really appreciate you checking out the video! My main thing is that he can build a legacy at IU and IU is primed for it. Facilities, budget, Fans.
To your comment, I like cals one and done, then everyone copied him. I’m not hating on KU
I got a new video coming out that breaks down how cignetti has been successful so far. Hope he keeps it up. Been fun.

Keep dreaming...Curt Cignetti shook my hand and said he wanted my son to sign w Elon...he announced after the whole class signed for Jame Madison. He will leave for a better job...count on it.

I’ll gladly trade you two coaches and a player to be named later for Curt! He’s in his sixties and has another decade or so to achieve his goals. It’s going to cost USC a fortune to unload Riley, just as TA&M bought out Jimbo for the same amount. USC may be at that point. We have a great head coach on staff in Matt Entz, but Matt or Curt would be a better fit for the Trojans.
My best drinking days are behind me, but you did an excellent job marketing Indiana. 🍺✌️

The leash is short for Deboer. He loses any more games and it could easily be this year.

Bro you're so naive. Cignetti is GONE. IU will never be able to match the money, facilities, reputation, tradition, etc. that the big programs have to offer.

Have you read any other comment. There like 100 of them explaining that IU is a giant when it comes to financials.
      The facilities are already there.
And if he goes to Florida State he’s just another coach renting his time there. IU he has a home and it’s his.
Thanks for the comment. Good to have some going against the grain here.

So, not to be a Debbie Downer, but even if IU beats OSU and goes on to do great things, what makes you think Cignetti would remain this successful? They're playing a modified version of an offense you don't normally see in big time football so people haven't caught up. It's like when a back up QB comes in and is a different style than the starter and they look good for a while, maybe even a whole season. However, teams get them figured out soon and then they're much less successful. Dunno, I just see a coach using a "different" (don't wanna call it gimmicky), but I don't see something that will have sustained success. Regardless, grats on the season and it's nice to have a fresh team in the picture.

Okay this one isn’t a dumb comment. There actually insight here. I don’t have that answer because I don’t have the actually tape. I don’t see there offense as a gimmick tho

Cig offense change per the players and his coordinator been with him for 5+ years. I just made a new video on this

    • @TheGolferguy71

@@BeersBytheIvy Yeh, not gimmick but a variation of the spread and triple option not usually used by Power 4 schools. So I'm just guessing that it might be something that works more now than it might next year for example. Could certainly be wrong, but typically new and fresh takes on things are better at first while people are still catching on, than they are a year or so later. Regardless tho, he's doing a hell of a job. If it was a simple as just creating a new version of an offense, lots of coaches would be doing it over the years. I'm not saying he's bad, not at all, just saying....how do we know that next year it'll be similar success?

You can be a legend. How much does that pay? Florida has millions, unlimited talent to recruit, and no snow. Enjoy this year. He fits IU great, but unless you found the unicorn that wants no money, he'll remember you fondly.

IU is richer than Florida man. Hate to break the news for ya.
Becoming a legend is way cooler than money. It’s having a purpose and a home. Cigten.
That my opinion but I think that’s his to from what I heard
