What a man and coach. He took his time, learned well and grabbed the opportunity. Whether it be IUP or IU, he is a winner with an approach and philosophy for a football organization. A lot goes in to being a head coach, and Curt has learned and applied in his career. We as Hoosiers are grateful and ecstatic for what he is producing. Let's hope it continues for years to come.
Never heard of him until coming to Indiana this year! Sounds like a good man, and supposed to be a good coach, but he is really going to regret saying that Ohio State sucks, as well as Michigan, and Penn State, I know he was trying to win over his fan base, but Indiana is not going to beat Ohio State in two weeks! They are not even close to having the elite talent Ohio State does! I watched Indiana struggle to beat a 5 loss Michigan team yesterday, was not impressed! If they had played yesterday, Ohio State would have blown them out! Good luck! 🌰🏈
Why did you come to Indiana? Well, I was about to turn 63, they told me they would pay me $4 mil a year as opposed to the $677,000 a year at JMU and the $75k a year I was paid at the D2 level and I thought to myself, hmh, maybe I should consider this.
Purdue fan here…rooting for Cig, 100% opposite of what we have. He’s an old school, no nonsense coach that is a coach, not trying to be friends with the kids like Ryan Walters. IU is everything Purdue is not, starting with discipline and accountability.
Purdue Fan as well. Dad was first team all conference there & winner of Best Student Athlete there in '50,. Grew up a Purdue fan. You speak some truth. I greatly respect what Coach Cig has done--but I would never root for IU. Purdue all the Way...
one of the greatest stories in college sports history - thank you Coach Cig...he's a well practiced and tried comprehensivist...few HC hires are there or ever get there, which you can tell by their interviews...this hire will change the market search for a lot of D1 HC searches!
@@natetruex3972he was making less than a million dollars at JMU. At IU he’s making around $6 million this year and playing some of the best competition in college football. The highest paid coach is at OSU in the B1G. IU will be able to pay him $10 million a year if that’s what it takes. You sound like you love JMU but they’re not on this level.
@@jadklein04As a JMU fan he definitely did, but Indiana has the funds to keep him around, and also has the pedigree and amount of fans to become a powerhouse. Cliché to say now but IU football has always been a sleeping giant. Just takes the right coach to wake them up
This guy is impressive. Humble and Hungry. Focused on the process & the inputs. Talented players migrate to this type of leadership. His mentality reflects the time he spent under coach Saban
Bloomington is a gorgeous city. Southern Indiana is a diamond. I hope Cignetti and his family stay forever and we can put a statue of him sitting next to the statue of Herman B. Wells in the campus woods-as Cignetti has the same ethos as Dr. Wells! Go IU!!!
Im listening to this as a michigan fan............and we re screwed and i mean the big ten is now on notice. I didnt know he was a pupil under saban. My other favorite head coach. This explains ALOT. We re going to rolled Saturday
Cignetti would be a great military leader.... And that makes sense... Football is ground acquisition warfare.... Cignetti is the general... Just like Bob Knight.
Trying not to be Captain Obvious here as a Seminole fan, but there is a huge difference between FSU's HC and this one. You can tell Cigs is on a different level. Interesting to witness. Happy for Coach Cigs. I'm rooting for him.
I'm an alum and fan and he reminds me a lot of Knight with one big difference. He has the intelligence, drive and confidence without the meanness that was an unfortunate part of Knight's personality.
"Secret to my success": Big 10 scheduler and my AD fixed me up with a cakewalk schedule that would embarrass a MAC school! IU hasn't played a single team currently in the top 8 of the Big 10 standings! And their non-conference schedule was a bad FCS team and 2 weak non-P5 teams. They've played literally nobody -- the best of which is a bad Michigan team, in Bloomington, that IU was lucky to beat by only 5 points. IU should be nowhere near the CFP unless they beat OSU convincingly this Saturday.

So long as they pay him handsomely it will

Coach cig is him
Welcome to the CigTen
Keep him at all cost. Build him a statue. Name a building after him. Give him partial ownership of the university.
I don't know which is cooler, Cig himself or his track suit.
Our coach.
Let’s Go!
I'm glad he's our Head Coach! Let's Go Hoosiers!
People who speculate that he's leaving for an enormous paycheck at some SEC school next year haven't listened to this interview
Said the same about James Madison last year
