I don’t think I’ll ever forget the introduction to GameDay in Bloomington. “Lee Corso and his team, BACK HOME AGAIN IN INDIANA!!!” Couldn’t help but tear up. Some of us Indiana fans have waited our entire life for that moment. Truly special.
I was born and raised in B-town and Bobby Knight and our basketball history has been the core of our pride and love and in many ways identity. The movie Hoosiers as mentioned by SVP being what it is to the game. Some not knowing the fact that Indiana was the last state that still had every team play in the same tournament is what allowed the David vs Goliath story to unfold. Because just like the scene in Breaking Away when the father tells his son that even though he and other cutters had been part of the build of the library on campus he never felt like he could enter into it. We Hoosiers at our core are underdogs so when the 70s and 90s lifted us up with the plaid blazer wearing tough guy at the helm it was us being allowed to whether into any building because we had built a church. Its name Assembly Hall. What coach Teri Moran has done on the same court and town has been a magical and systematic practice to greatness and her & her staff have brought back a pride & culture of winners to IUs rich basketball history. Of course Doc & Jerry and now Todd, who I went to school with, leading our swimming & soccer programs to the upper enchants of each sport are a rich part of IU history but they just never carried the weight for obvious reasons. There is not a kid who grew up in B-town during those times that doesn’t bleed red and white and feel an immense devotion to IU and out town. I’d even venture to say the legacy that we lived in has given many of us the extra confidence with chest pumped out to go for things in life. Unless u know it’s hard to explain the almost religious commitment it is. And though many can acknowledge Bobby was problematic and flawed in many ways you’d be hard pressed to hear any of us talk badly of him. Actually it would be the opposite. He was our “General” on a court that somehow carried over into our lives and had permeated that town and campus ever since. But it’s far too long since we’ve had what we do now with Coach of the year Curt Cignetti doing what he has done. And so soon after we lost Bobby. He is brash and confident. Dare I say cocky? And you better believe Hoosier Nation loves it and fully embrace it and our so thankful for the salvation he has brought to us. It’s defiantly the story of the year in CFB but for all of us who are HN it is a call to come home. To pull out our old sweatshirts and tshirts or jerseys and gather in front of the tv or even take a trip back to see the game in person and unite with the pride and devotion we have for our town and our school. It’s been an amazing ride and what is hopefully a commitment by Coach C to build a dynasty. Let’s go Hoseier Nation let’s go!
I was there and also remember that event. I loved his Sunday show w/ Chuck Marlowe and his 'Sleepy Eye' and even 'Indiana of PA' picks...entertainment before it was a thing!
Serious question. Cignetti is a great coach. He’s confident not cocky, he brash, bold, and has good energy that his team feeds off of, and He’s running his program his way. Yet Coach Prime has same moxie and attitude and he’s hated on. Why is Cignetti viewed differently than Coach Prime?
I think part of it is the rumors of locker room nonsense and the professor's email about how disrespectful some players were in class. Cignetti, so far, seems to have instilled a new culture at IU. It's looking like he's Bobby Knight but without the temper or outbursts so far.
Results between the two coaches are vastly different. If Coach Prime started 8-0 he’d have been hailed as the next Saban and universally loved. I love coach Prime but results are everything.
No one could deny that it hasn’t been a lineup of killers, but no one could deny that Indiana hasn’t won every game in a controlled and methodical dominant way. Just look at Nebraska vs IU & Nebraska vs OSU. I have never subscribed to the idea we’re taking a loss in Columbus and don’t understand how that’s stll the prevailing theory. Let’s go Hoosier Nation!

4:29 💯! WE lit Herbstreit up, then went nuts when McAfee picked IU by "a million!" 😂😂😂
I was at Gameday. It was assume. Congrats on putting on a great show. Of course it was great to see the Hoosiers win.

I vividly remember Coach Corso and the double-decker bus carrying the team into the stadium for his first game. Quite a moment!

We’re on cloud 9 in Indiana. We’ve suffered a lot. This is borderline unbelievable
Go Hoosiers!
Enjoy what we have embrace it is going to be around a while

Apples to oranges
Prime is 10-10 at CU. Coach Cig just wins. Google him.

“Google me. I win”
Pretty weak schedule so far
