    It’s amazing that the clips of him in interviews, movies, tv or his stand up can still make people laugh and smile years after his passing. It’s truly a tragic loss that he is no longer with us. His mind was lightning fast when coming up with jokes. It’s very sad that he was so depressed for so long. He was one of the kindest people in the purest way. Anything he did to make people smile wasn’t for media attention but just to make people happy. RIP Robin Williams! You will always be remembered.

      Why, the Hell, wouldn't "clips of him in interviews, movies, tv or his stand up ... still make people laugh and smile years after his passing" ? Just because one has died or departed this mortal coil shouldn't negate the fact that they once, indeed, existed in this world or douse their ongoing spirit. What, on Earth, are you thinking?

    I had to watch this clip twice and I STILL don't see what is so offensive about what Robin said.
    1. They weren't even discussing Michael Jackson except to comment on how powerful a drug propofol is. Robin's chemo metaphor was a joke that only eludes to the seriousness of Michael Jackson's troubles. But that was it. They did not extrapolate any further.
    2. The ONLY reason propofol is even motioned is in reference to Robin's heart surgery which, by the way, may have led to his suicide. Studies are now showing a higher instance of depression among people who have had heart surgery.
    3. Propofol IS a very powerful drug. Michael Jackson died because he was surrounded by "yes" men. He had problems for which he was not properly treated.
    4. Did I mention this interview has nothing to do with Michael Jackson? Graham and Robin spend most of this clip discussing Robin's daughter, Zelda. I'm not even sure why Michael's name is in the title of this clip other than to draw attention to it, thus ensuring more views, which is pretty dishonest if you ask me.
    Both men needed help.
    Both men will be missed.

      He could have shared his story..why such an insensitive remark..for a few more laughs?
      But then yes many comedians have this history 2 slander michael 4 his skin disease...and he did that too.

    So much crazy over this topic - MJ, so desperate and abused by those paid so well to preserve his health, what a shame.
    This is also that period Robin began conversing with hid demons, and they, in good course, introduced Robin to new demons, advancing age, LG disease, the the fear he would lose that edge to his wit - that had worked so well for him. Michael J. Fox, a friend of Robin's - was a perfect example of how he might could cope, but, MJFx's career was not so tied to the same inner synapses Robin consider most required for him to keep his edge. A sensitive man, Robin hung himself in a way where he could nearly sit on the floor by his bedroom door - so the image, left behind - would not be so graphically disturbing for his family & fans - yet, it was still as completely effective. In the end, Robin was dilligent in even his most final act in his life. - Brad Michael Moore

Propofol...I had it for shoulder surgery 15 months ago. It was the best sleep of my adult life, and it's not even close. I still think about how refreshed I felt after I woke up. To have that 100% of the time after being an insomniac (Michael had empty nose syndrome from the rhinoplasties), I'm not condoning it, but I totally understand how someone with the means could want to do that.

    When Michael used propofol for chronic insomnia given by a Doctor in an act of desperation it was not his intention to leave his children. He didn't think that it was going to kill him. Robin said some very mean things about Michael but those comments were just his true rationality coming out. It's horrible when someone takes there own life willingly, - many have depression and addictions but suicide? I am sad for his children and all who knew him, he seemed to be a nice man.

      I suggest you watch the film The Bridge, it explores with extraordinary sensitivity and caring some of the many suicides over the years that take place at the Golden Gate Bridge. And some of the interviews with the parents of the people who have taken their own lives, they seem to take it as a release.
      If you've been a depressive. AND i doubt you ever have been. Because if you have been then you wouldn't have just made that comment.
      Its a release for the family. I'm sure the daughter, son, and wife know how crippled anyone can be by depression.
      So i'm sure the family won't think for one second "what a selfish man! Why didn't he think about my feelings".

      +Cobrakay2003 No, pretty sure he's dead. When he mentions using a drug far beyond its application and everybody laughs, this is why he killed himself. A normal human being could expect people to be shocked and concerned, but Robyn Williams was living in a bubble where anything he says people would laugh at. You're the reason he killed himself. I never thought he was funny, and in fact, I thought he was creepy. Just look at his face after he tells the joke and everybody is laughing and he looks like an old guy who has nobody to talk with. I can't even call it a "micro expression" as the term is called because his real face lasts longer than a split second, it's right there for you to see. Robyn Williams was an empty shell of a person and as long as everybody was laughing around him he felt "safe" that he doesn't have to connect with other people.

    • @fleecemaster
      @fleecemaster 8 лет назад +12

      Yeah, this is true, I can see it too, I have similar mental health problems too and I often use humour as a barrier, but also it's the only way to connect with people. It's almost impossible to connect with people in any real way. I'm amazed he managed to live into his 60s, and I hope I might be able to manage the same.

    There is too much of a social stigma surrounding mental health problems. It's why I'm open about my situation. Nobody would have said "Get over it. Stop feeling sorry for yourself" when Robin Williams needed heart surgery, so why would they trivialize his severe depression?

    • @filigree4103
      @filigree4103 9 лет назад +23

      The thing is his pathology report shows that it wasn't mental illness in the end. His depression, his Parkinson's symptoms and many other issues he was having including occasionally odd behavior as it turns out was the result of him being in the very early stages of Louis body dementia. Louis bodies are what they call the buildups in the brain that cause Parkinson's but with LBD they are all over the brain instead of just localized.
      The fact is Robin Williams was dying. He just didn't know it yet.
      And what's more symptoms of LBD can include sleep issues including acting out ones dreams. It is even conceivable that Robin killed himself in his sleep although we will never know. His severe depression in the time before he died was not a mental illness as his usual depression was. And even si it may or may not pertain to what happened when he died.
      I Stress this because even though it is the second most common form of dementia after alzheimers, most people never heard of it. It's a terrible disease that is like combining the worst aspects of alzheimers and Parkinson's in one. This disease killed my grandmother. ... slowly. ... And I think now that its known that Robin had it, it would be so important to educate people and push for research on this condition.

    • @janetaldrich7747
      @janetaldrich7747 7 лет назад +1

      Dementia with Lewy Bodies -- but you've got it right otherwise. I'm seeing my husband through the early stages of LBD and hoping things will go better for him than they did for Robin.
      I've heard people say some unkind things because Robin and his wife had separate bedrooms. I can see how that could happen -- one of the diagnostic symptoms of LBD is acting out one's dreams, and nighttime hallucinations with vocalization. Having gone throught this, sleeping separately may be the only way his wife could get any sleep.
