I love how Peter Capaldi wants to share his success with others - passing around the Oscar, just having fun with it. He was like that during his tenure on Doctor Who as well, wanting his character to have some cheaper costumes so it would be easier for fans to afford to cosplay the character since it's normal costuming was typically very expensive. It seems both he and Hanks have managed to stay real and grounded in an industry that makes that nearly impossible.
Tom Hanks reminds me so much of Jimmy Stewart. Talented, absolutely. Intelligent, without a doubt. But also comfortable with himself. There seems to be a confidence without the arrogance.
At a certain point, Peter Capaldi realized that there was too much ragging on David Walliams for not having an Oscar, and even though Capaldi probably knew Hanks was (and is) a nice guy, he may have thought that Hanks' continued needling was too much, so he shifted to a self-deprecating story about himself, and shifted it again to pointing out Walliams' achievement for charity. In just a few words, Capaldi deftly managed to change the conversation, show his humility, and put the spotlight on someone else. To me that shows how much of a class act Capaldi is.
@wildebest While I agree that Hanks was needling a little more than necessary for this kind of setting, I don't feel like Hanks shows any dislike for him at the end. Just the opposite. 5:45 - "Have you ever won anything?" Brilliant quip from Tom Hanks, and it's SO satisfying to see David Walliams' ego FINALLY get deflated - if it can be, of course.
Awwww him doing Forest's voice brought a tear to my eye. I just recently watched the movie after not having seen it for years and as a 29 year old man I have to say that it hit me a lot harder than it has in the past when I've watched it. Very emotional once you really get everything that's going on.
The fact that Peter mentions that David swam the channel for charity after they both won the top honor in their profession that everyone praises and Tom and Peter have such admiration for him, shows how grounded they are that they know what is truly important in life.
Graham Norton's is the very best talk show I've ever seen. No one else has ever done it this well. He gets every possible ounce of entertainment out of his guests. Phenomenally good. Carson was great but I've gotta say he was no Graham Norton. Like Ali was, Norton is The Greatest!

Thank you young Micheal for giving us the perfect Forrest Gump voice! Could not imagine the character any other way
Tom Hank's is awesome. One of my favorite actors. Truly a class act.
When the scene with Wilson comes up in the movie, I leave, because I know I'm going to cry, my bf says its just a ball, stop being stupid, but to me it reminds me of loss , death, and that heartache.#TomHanks amazing actor, love him and his Wife , Rita is just as amazing, great couple!
Chloe Kay Has
That just shows how great the acting is
Tom Hanks is so present and seems so very authentic! Like that!!!!
Tom Hanks a TRUE talented, amazing actor. Love him and all he does.
These 3 have great chemistry for some random crazy reason.
irishmanonthecan
Hey now, Graham is eccentric but certainly not crazy 😊
I can listen to Tom as Forrest all day.
5:45 - "Have you ever won anything?" Brilliant quip from Tom Hanks, and it's SO satisfying to see David Walliams' ego FINALLY get deflated - if it can be, of course.
Who else smiled when he started talking like Forrest 😭
Tom Hanks, you are literally too precious for this world, and we do not deserve you.
I clicked just to see if Tom Hank's hair went white
+Tony Stark I thought he was bald that's why I clicked.
It's gonna be for a role in a film or something
+Tony Stark he plays Captain Sully in his biopic by Clint Eastwood
It's blonde... Must be for a role. He definitely has hair plugs though.
Ben Way your mom is so sad.....
Tom Hanks seems like the dopest guy to hang out with
I love Tom hanks, what a fantastic actor! Very funny & such a humble man too
Awwww him doing Forest's voice brought a tear to my eye. I just recently watched the movie after not having seen it for years and as a 29 year old man I have to say that it hit me a lot harder than it has in the past when I've watched it. Very emotional once you really get everything that's going on.
Logical Reason SAME!!! Just now finished watching it again and it was the most powerful this time
I love that the kept contact with that little boy, he knows he's a veteran etc... Tom Hanks is a good man.
Never get tired of listening to Forrest Gumps voice
Tom Hanks is an actor that you don't want to see grow old.
He is defiantly one of my all time favourite actors of all time, maybe the favourite.
Tom Hanks is such an actor! He is such an artist! He is such a generous soul! He is such an amazing human being! He is such a man!
Like Ali was, Norton is The Greatest!
agree with u 100% I can't stand most of the late night talk shows here in the us the interviews are horrible but this show is awesome
No talk show host in the world can ever come close to how amazing graham is what a guy
Tom Hanks talking like Forest Gump and joking with the Doctor is exactly what I needed today!
Even with a moustache. Tom Hanks is still the most trusted man in America.
Tom Hanks for president!
The way the 3 of them just, improvised that short bit and pulled it off... true talent! 4:45
I love how he knew the kids name and what he went on to do without having to think about it
I still remember tom hanks and peter Scolari on bosom buddies years ago..hes still great after all these years..love you tom hanks!
Tom Hanks is a fantastic actor!
Tom Hanks a peddy
My favorite actor, and person
The fact that Tom Hanks adapted to the way the kid spoke says everything you need to know about this amazing human being. 😍
after reading all the comments Tom Hanks is our Jimmy Stewart. All of his roles are a work in art. Doesn't matter your age, talent trumps that.
Tom Hanks has to be the coolest guy to hang out with.
I realized not only is Graham an incredible host but his whole technical team in excellent. That they cut into the closeups/appropriate camera at the RIGHT moment to capture facial reactions just adds to the comedy even more.
WILLLSOOOOONNN
What movie is that from
+Snake It's from "Cast Away".
+Snake Cast Away
+Gandalf The pug ウィルソン!!!!
+Gandalf The pug Gotta admit, I nearly cried during that scene.
I just love how they connected, and that they just don't care to be laughed at. I guess that when you're self assured and confident there's no need to be vain, there's nothing to prove.
"LIP-sticks" 😂😂
Man that is so close to backwoods southern people
