I can't tell you how many times I've watched/listened to this song by Mariah and Luther, and I STILL get goosebumps.. every. single. time! It's just phenomenal.
What I do find crazy though, is when people who are used to the original version try and say that Mariah has no emotion when singing this. What the!? 🤦♀

Mariah is everything to me. Her lyrics got me through some very dark times. That version of endless love was what my husband and I walked down the aisle to. A moment I will never forget.
Imo , this is how you ALMOST make people forget that this was sung by two of the greatest singers in music history, Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie, you put Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey together and the rest is music history! I just realized Mr. Luther Vandross did harmonize mostly in this song and he did perfectly well. The vocal from two perfect vocalists just blend well together.

They are performing at the Royal Albert Hall. Everything about it is iconic ❤ it was 94. And then after 25 years without singing that song, she performed again at the same place during her tour. It was so unbelievable! Legend.
This was the first time Mariah ever performed at a concert in the uk. I saw her at the same venue in 2019 and she was amazing.

One of the most iconic duets. In my opinion, it elevates the song in a way the original doesn’t. Lionel and Diana did great, but this is just outstanding. The meaning and feeling of the song is there in a way that it isn’t in the original. I’m a HUGE Lamb so I may be biased 🤣 I don’t care! These are God-given voices for sure.

I don’t think that at all, imo I think Luther just wanted to be known for his velvet vocals and music , he wanted to keep his private life out of the spotlight. A lot of people wanted to know , but he would not entertain the questions, it wasn’t like his record company or anyone else made him not talk about it.

How? How are they doing this? You can actually see Luther Vandross watching and listening to Mariah, and Mariah is going to do what Mariah is going to do, and Luther instantly adjusts his voice to compliment her voice. It's like they are dancing together. How many times did they rehearse this? I'm thinking . . . not very many times. They are just amazing singers who both have thousands of miles behind them. This is why I love music. It is art.

Oh and to add, you commented on Luther’s outfit, if I remember right, when I he arrived in London for the tour I think his usual concert outfits were lost or left behind by the airline or travel company, so he had to make up something. This is from the whole concert video that was released I remember him explaining that. It was an amazing concert (with Mariah being icing on the cake, kudos for fans who got to see that in person, wow!) and it was different to see Luther not in his usual sequined suits on stage.(and yes he had a history of always being hot and sweaty on stage , but he still always gave you top level entertainment.)

Luther & Mariah both have the greatest techniques of singing. I love how they sung it together but I felt no emotional connection or chemistry from the two of them in the song like I did when Diana Ross & Lionel Richie sung it decades ago. But all in all it was a great performance and how can it not be with two icons blending their voices together.
Suggestion for Fabulous Friday: Scott Hoying just released a solo, original song called Mars. It's a beautiful love song and the video is visually stunning. His fiance Mark makes a cameo appearance, too.
