I’ve been advocating for them to bring back the personalized solo performances since 2019 so I’m SUPER glad they did. Still wished they were longer, but they had to fit in 5 performances so oh well 🤷

The only thing I didn't like about this year's finale is that top5 didn't have a proper sashay away. They're just like "you're not making top2, bye", and the editing cuts them off. It would be cool if at least they let them say something to the fans to say goodbye.

Yeah, or when willow won, magically lady camden was edited out or put at the back of the stage - let the girls be there to properly congratulate their queens

Moral of the lesson is DO NOT have another top 5 finale, there simply was no time for 5 queens to get their solo performances and have enough time.
After seeing the most recent finale, I'd like to see a mix between Season 12 and 14s finales, with individual performances on the main stage, but rather than the original songs (which are hit or miss) let the queens pick a pre-existing song to create a performance for, like they would do in bars, clubs and tours. It allows them to show off their creativity, without hindering them with a potentially weak song.

I agree with the girls should be sitting down while talking to Ru and Ru could make some damn eye contact. It was weird Ru never looks at them. Also, the performances should’ve been longer.

I’m so glad that they’re back to individual performances for the finale. The lipsync for the crown format got old rather quickly. Ever since Sasha and the roses, queens have been relying on stunts and reveals which is how we got the infamous Asia O Hara butterfly situation. I’m glad that that’s over and done with
This was SUCH a good finale! It’s been so long since I’ve been so excited during a finale! The combination of season 8 and lip sync for the crown was perfect and the final lip sync was so good. Everything just seemed so fun and the vegas theming was everything. I wasn’t bored for a second! Daya had such an amazing performance (and tbh deserved the top 2 but it’s fine) and I love everyone getting money

I’m still waiting for a Rupaul’s drag race LIVE finale. I would love to see the winner get crowned in real time and see in the moment genuine emotions
THIS. I've been thinking about live finales for the longest time and honestly I would like for them to have a try at it, just for once. Imagine how many people would tune in to just not miss it, the genuine emotions and hype.
While the Lipsync For The Crown was fun, (Especially the very first one in season 9.) it really lost it luster rather quickly, and for multiple reasons.
However, as much as I enjoy/prefer each queen getting their own performance at the finale, I, personally, don’t _love_ the fact that they do it to original songs. Now, please don’t get me wrong, there have certainly been some _iconic_ solo performances as well as some _real bops_ created via this format. However, I find most of the numbers to be, overall, rather unremarkable and not really memorable much at all. (For the most part at least.) Plus, while the queens _clearly_ work with someone on the song, I can’t imagine that they have all that much control over it as they _clearly_ can’t do much in the way of writing/producing/recording it on their own. Which, again, _to me,_ is them relinquishing far too much power to someone else.
So, instead, I would love to see them revisit the format that they put together for Season 12 due to the lockdown and Shitty Pie’s disqualification. Which basically just entails them getting a list of songs to choose from and, since they’re back on the big stage and with an audience, would also give them access to people to help them with choreography, costumes, stage design, etc. Thus they’re fully in charge of putting on an amazing performance without running the risk of a dud of a song. (Or even just an okay one, which at this point, is essentially just as bad.) And even if they do _somehow_ make a poor choice when it comes to the music, it’s really all on them. Otherwise the finale would play out exactly how it did for Season 14, as far as the format goes anyway.
Anyway, that would be how the finale would _ideally_ play out _for me._ (I’m sure that *lots* of people will disagree with it though, which is totally understandable!)

Season 7-8 Finale was my favourite finale format ever so I'm so happy about what they did with the Season 14 finale. The only complaint I would have is that they didn't have every US and AS winner walk down the runway like they did in those finales.
I’m just happy that The Lady Camden did the *Center Stage* tutu reveal that was missing from the talent show.

I think the idea behind the s14 finale was great but omg the execution..... lacking. The pacing felt terrible to me, so so so quick. and every performance only a minute. i think they should've had a top 3 with this format... a top 5 did not work at all there was just not enough time. Love your channel!
RIGHT everyone is like the finale is brilliant and im like no it wasnt? it was only good cause of the talent of the queens and the vegas girls and hot chocolates moment etc. The actual pacing, production, editing, energy and audience was very off for me i felt like it was not grand like a finale it just didnt feel right to me. It was GOOD but not amazin.

If you're going to put 5 girls in the finale, can we please give them more than 30 seconds each? The eliminated queens got almost as much time on the runway.
They had a top 5 because they couldn't eliminate Angeria, the only black queen left in the competition.
I love the ball on the S13 finale. I hope one day we get that again as a starter to a finale.

i liked the format for 1-3 because it’s more organic.
That’s because it was more organic. Ru was really enamored but some of those girls. Now, I think it has lost its charm with him.
A little sad you dismissed all the international seasons because Drag Race Thailand has the most elaborate finales in the entire franchise (especially season 2). Angele Anang's performance was so moving and powerful nothing in the main series can compete
This is about the main season tho.
there was on blurb about the international seasons, and I think that Drag Race Thailand is the outlier because it's the only one not produced by world of wonder and ends up with the most grandiose live finales when compared to the other seasons (you can argue in the comments about the quality of the overall show, but mama the production value is there in those finales)
@@tanatb4113WOW is credited as a production company of drag race thai, the exception is that RuPaul isn’t the executive producer and every other drag race (minus the switch) has ru producing it

You’ve missed how easily season 14’s format can and was rigged! They can write a track that doesn’t suit a queen such as giving Daya and Bosco slower paced tracks when we all know they are both HINRGY dancers,leaving them at a disadvantage. They did the opposite trick with Angeria,giving her a dance track knowing he can’t dance, so basically give/write two songs that best suits two queens and and you’ve got your finalists! Willow did deserve the crown though,a magnificent queen
yess maybe coz they didn’t want them to win🤔 they couldn’t possibly let queens who’d left the competition (or were about to) and came back win the crown

season 13 lip syncs were so awkward especially because they tried editing in cheering 🤣 like we know theres no one there who are you trying to convince. also yes the interviewing part on s14 finale when ru was talking to the camera and not them was really awkward why didnt they get chairs lol

Season 14 finale is the bestie finale I didn't know I needed. Sponsored by rupauls best friends race lmao. Besides the picks, I also I loved this format it was very to the point but also had some great moments.
I liked how the season 9 Finale had such bright lighting and a cool background, ever since then the stage has been so dark where can barely see the queens

The edit was VERY kind to camden when she did the fake fall and her wig was caught for a good 4 seconds before they panned away to willow. That must have been so heart breaking ripping that tangle out knowing it wasn't a smooth transition but in practice it was.
Seasons 1-3 finale format will always be my favorite. First of all, it puts all the queens in order instead of having multiple runner-ups. Second of all, it is very intense when there is only the queens and the judges, and it feels like the final lip sync really matters. I think this finale format is integrated to the competition in the best way possible. The only flaw I find in this format is that I don't like how the queen who comes in third place is just told to sashay away and they can't do anything about it. I really just can't come up with anything that would change this in a fair way.

I love the return of individual numbers - I think it showcases each finalist better. I also think that too many lipsynchs in the finale can be exhausting. The finale of s14 feels much better paced than most recent finales, and I appreciate it.
The finale was pretty good, as you said I wish the top 5 could have had a longer song, but it was entertaining ! All of 5 are amazing Drag Queens, but this particular top 2 is well deserved ✨

I don't care about leaks. I like the crowning at the end of the last episode. You can guess who might win anyway and the triple taped finales feel watered down and gimmicky.

That rubbed me the wrong way, what an abrupt way to eliminate a queen
No Ru had already chosen the top two, the wheel was just to show who it was going to be, but it wasn’t random
S8 format was the best. I like introducing the queens and maybe giving them an act they can do together. Then introducing the top 3. To hitch I do think it should go back to top3 and not 4 or even 5. Final 3 is iconic. I like giving them a performance to give their brand. We get Miss Congenial and then we get the winner and the past winner handing over the crown. I think we could also introduce other awards like assassin of the season, best moment, best look and etc.. that would be fun and allow everyone a chance to shine

The whole season is to avoid lipsyncs so I don't like "lipsync for the crown". I do like when each queen had their own "show" in the finale, it's the best.
For S14 it was obvious the top 2, just looking at the performances. I enjoyed that only the top 2 did the lipsync, but I still don't like that THAT is what determine the winner.

Ever since season 12 I've been thinking about doing individual performances either with or instead of a lipsync and I'm glad they did it for this season and hope they keep doing it going forward. It's just that the lipsync format is biased towards queens that dance and there's so many other ways of doing drag out there. Like Crystal isn't the best dancer in the world, but you can't deny that I'm Like A Bird performance was both hilarious and creative. Queens that have a certain creativity that doesn't translate into dancing deserve to show off what they are good at and maybe win as well. I hope they take what they did with this season and continue on, maybe either lengthening the amount of time for performances like you said or maybe just giving the queens a list of songs and letting them pick one and doing what they want with it. I liked all of the top 5 this season and really didn't care who won, but come on it was Willow's win. I think we all knew it. And HELL YEAH for the first trans winner/miss congeniality combo in Drag Race herstory!!

I honestly think this would've been the best finale of the show if they did it like S12 where they let the top 3 (in this case 5) choose the songs they wanted to perform. And tbh the final song was great, I was affraid we'd get Work Bitch AGAIN but Gimme Gimme Gimme by Cher was an amazing choise. Overall a great finale.
I think the best format or something they should do is to a mixture of a couple of finales. Season 13 and season 14. The finalists get the entire episode to themselves, partaking in a final ball, getting interviewed by Rupaul ( in their final ball look), a solo performance to show of their creativity and then top 2 or 3 lipsync

I think we wont have a solo performances format for the next finale : we already had a lipsync tournament this season with the « all bottom » episode. That’s why we didn’t have a lipsync for the crown smackdown this season

this finale was amazing, at last! since s9 happened it's been a big mess and I hope they abolish lipsyncing for the crown forever, just leave it to the top 2, like we had since s1. the finale is a great celebration of what the season was so what better way to celebrate the finalists than with a performance that screams their personality and journey?

What people forget about Season 9 is they kind of had to do the Lip Sync for the Crown because the season got a lot of hate for lackluster lipsyncs, to the point where it's brought up in the Reunion.

I missed the original season crownings because s1-3 were not produced like they are now and didn't have a post production reveal at the end. I loved the ending of the first three seasons 😍😍
S4-6 had such good casts and S5 and s6 had amazing winners but they didn't get alot of screen time because there wasn't a separate reunion. I enjoy the separate reunions. S7/8 had their own songs which were great. I loved them. "Legs" still lives on and I loved "Too many daddys"... But the lack of reunions were sad. S9 was so good. The reunion then the lipsynch for the 👑👑👑 🥰🥰
S12 finale was actually really good.
S13 was just ..meh 😑 performing for Rupaul only would be difficult aswell. S14 gave us Jaida essence Hall which was great at the red carpet 😍🥰👑 and they tried something different for this season. Symone can host like Miss Jaida ❤️❤️

So I would like a new format for the finale. The lip sync showdown is tired so glad S14 reverted back to S8 format but even that is kinda rigged. For me The finale should be a LIVE Variety show and just like American Idol/Britain’s Got Talent it should have a public vote. We are going into 15 seasons and it’s long overdue. Anyways I’m happy Willow won I knew she would I like I knew BOB and Krystal Versace on U.K. would win their seasons. (Ru loved them early on).

I think the reason why this season was so long was to have the finale filmed during the time when most corvid restrictions were lifted in most states?
My only gripe with the S14 finale is that the solo lipsyncs were WAY too short. They could've cut down on some of the boring chit-chat with Ru to have longer performances. But that's just a minor complaint, I'm just happy we were finally able to get a finale with a live audience.
I prefer the performance over the lip sync off because the performance should prove WHY they are in the finale.
Have the 3-5 queens prove that it could be any ones game.

Season 12 would have had a great live finale just a shame the pandemic put pace to that. Season 13 had weird pacing and it didn’t pay off without an audience really. Season 14 was a return to form we needed.

I don't like the Lip Sync for the Crown, exactly for the reasons you pointed out: It's so easy to make someone who didn't play the game well win. I know they are all tallented, look at Trixxie, she's awesome, but I do believe you need to play the game right, you need the most victories, you need to be more than just entertaining or wathever, you know? That's why Bob the Drag Queen is the win no one complains about. The girl played S8 just like Jynks is playing AS7, the difference is that, at that time, it was clear she would win, while now, I doubt that will be the case.
The best format was S7-8 especially 8. Number made for themselves, makes even the most awkward queen awesome. I doubt they will bring that finale back, but frankly: Making the finale this kind of smackdown where if you're awesome at splitting and twisting and revealing, you win, is the worst kind of finale, why in the hell would you play the game the best if in the end, you only need to be good at a gag, at making Rupaul laughing and being shocked at the same time with how crazy you can be on stage?
I also agree that S1-3 are the queens you feel Rupaul choose, those are the seasons that for some reason feel more real, less edited, good to watch, but yeah. This format with lipsync worked lots for S9 but should have been returned already. Its way too boring, and they are repeating it on AS7 and I don't like it.
i do think some finales are unwatchable though. i didn’t watch the finales for 10,11, or 13 just because after season 9 i hated the format so much. and for season 10 and 13 i knew exactly who was gonna win so there was no point.
Well Season 3, if you watch it the first time and don't search up spoilers, it was obvious Raja was going to win. But the finale was still more entertaining than ones after Season 9.

The 'original' songs were completely filler for me. It wasn't the queens singing so I really didn't connect with them. The fact they were so incredibly short made it even worse. I could've done without them... or Leland as a whole for that matter.
OK this may sound so stupid but I wish "copyright" would honestly lean more towards allowing content creators the opportunity to use our clips and recordings for content and receive a small percentage of whatever comes from their media. I hate everything having to be changed to meet copyright criteria when they could just use it to their own benefit as well 🤣🤦🏼♂️
The problem with 13 was that Mik and Rose didn't make it to the final 2, so a lot of people just turned it off before the end. I love Kandy, but you knew she'd never beat Symone so why bother watching the rest? It would have been better tv to have the one of the other two against Kandy as the final. Rather than another forgettable queen that didn't stand out as much, just like in 12.
