That's a dumb idea to have the release cable or what ever so burried, but that's car designers now days.

I’m surprised those stupid things don’t have a Tow mode like Tesla, that you can access from the screen. Good job getting it done. He should’ve just given you the keys and let you do what you have to do and keep an eye on his kids. My anxiety went through the roof when his kid went around the back of the car.
The “tow mode” on these is called transport mode, which drops the suspension level to the lowest setting, and then you put it into neutral.
Assuming it had power.
For the most part he left me alone, although that kid going back was the last thing I wanted.

Great recovery in a very tight environment! You've got EV recovery down to a science! That Hummer still has temporary tags on it! Jeez; what a piece of junk from GM.

If you own an EV you are forced to have normal car too to be covered with transport if the EV fails.

There is something wrong with today's technology when you cannot put the car in neutral because of the battery issue.
You can't do this with many gas cars when the battery is dead either. A Smart driver keeps his 12v charged, EV or otherwise

Why doesn't the owner lock those kids in the house.? Doesn't he realize the dangers of children that small around machinery? anything could happen. But I guess if you are dumb enough to buy a hummer EV, you probably are dumb enough to leave your kids out in the garage to get hurt too.

The design of these things has to be the definition of irony.
The vehicles are design to be propelled by an electric motor powered by a huge bank of batteries. And yet the irony is that it appears that the 12 v battery for the vehicle ancillaries is inadequate to do the job.
So, how much money do people waste on these sea anchors?
Wowsers how frustrating are the EV'S. So not looking forward to all cars becoming ev. It will get to the point where no towers will want to tow them. Or maybe some will incur a lot of damage bills. It would suck if GM made them, but not Tesla. You'd have to drain the Tesla HV battery to Zero and below, THEN let the 12v battery drain completely. Then, you could STILL jump it with the cables. You can easily put it in TOW mode.

I honestly think I would have just found a decent 12 volt battery installed it drove it to the dealer and but the bad one back in and called it a day.

Man that one was tight. He should never have bought it. Again I would have said you need access to pump jacks. BUT this one I don't think those jacks would clear the garage doors. Also they might have marked the floor. I've never used them before. But once you got it out you might have put the pump jacks on. You are towing more and more and the " factory " towing procedure can't be the best way for the driver to tow. Do you / the company have a in person meetings? Ask what the other drivers might do or think they might do.
It's hilarious that an Environmentally friendly electric vehicle needs a gas or diesel engine to rescue them. 😂

@@BoondocTravels needs a 12v trickle charger. That battery shouldn't be going dead unless sitting for over a month. I'm willing to bet that they did like Tesla. The 12v system doesn't get a charge unless the drive battery needs a charge. Being that the 12v system is always active for door locks and such. It goes flat quicker then the big Lithium does.
I think that 2 ton jack was at or exceeding its capacity on a nearly 10k pound vehicle! 😮

Dustin I think you should have use the wrecker truck instead so you would just have to use the dollies and off you go flatbed is for vehicles that rolling
Most wheel lift trucks don’t have the capacity to tow these, nor do Dollie’s. I used the appropriate and required equipment, as per the towing procedure.
Is it feasible to free spool then put a snatch block on the end of the bed and then wrap around and come back to the bridal and hook back up and pull it off the deck?
Not on this vehicle because you can’t hook anything under the vehicle, and running straps under and around the bumper is asking for a damage claim.

Buying an electric vehicle from GM would be sticking your hand in a beehive. Don't be surprised when a company that has decades of experience in causing electrical problems. Next time you see a vehicle going down the road with a headlight out, it's a 90% chance it's a GM.

Because I’m on call 24/7, and if I get a police call or something in the middle of the night, I need my truck. I don’t get to be off just because I have a tow in the morning. We don’t work shifts. I have to be ready at all times.
Question, once you had it on skids, why not leave it there until morning rather than loading and unloading the truck twice?
Because I’m on call 24/7. If I get a call in the middle of the night, I have to be available to go. Can’t leave the truck down that long.

nope, #1 clearly the single garage door BARELY squeezes just the truck thru with the mirrors folded... it's not wide enough to set up dollies... plus.. the EV hummer is over 9,000lbs.... even half of that is more than dollies are made for.. assuming you could even get them to rollover with that much weight. that's a Rollback job every time.

You do charge more for all the nonsense you have to go through to accomplish what the car company requires to not void the warranty. I’m not sure which is worse for the earth pollution from gasoline powered vehicles or mining for lithium.
Towing these are very lucrative. It’s worth the time and effort.
Tow companies love EV's because it means lots more work for their diesel and petrol powered tow trucks.

The EV zealots tell us that EV ownership is not a big problem. So why are these kinds of issues now common? It is crazy to pay a high price for crazy depreciation, charge problems, range curtailed by cold and load, and then having to waste so much journey time charging and finding working charge points. EV ownership is my idea of hell on Earth.

99.9% are not PUSHED on people, they are 100% because people want them. If you drove one, you'd see maintenance, performance, everything far better in a Tesla...but not a Ford or GM. Brand matters.

Many reasons. That would risk far more damage, and a lot more work, and you have to put yourself under/behind a vehicle. Plus the hassle of dragging it the other you still have to use skates, and good luck with doing that in the dirt/rocks.
Everything I do, I do for a reason, based on my experience.
