    I think the Hummer glitched because of the Ford shirt! 😂

    That’s really smart to keep charging until your charge rate is less than that of the next charging station…

    That’s impressive hammering it all the way home from Rock Springs in one day - that’s a long trip (but sure it helped getting 226 miles on a single charge 😂)! Glad the Hummer issue got sorted out and didn’t leave you stranded. We had a great time in Rock Springs and was fun to hit the trail with you guys. Registration for the 2024 Airstream International Rally just opened today and we got signed up and are already looking forward to next year!

    I believe TFL had the same issue on their Hummer. They had to disconnect the 12v also.

    Lets hope that the manufacturer alliance to build a new network actually works.

    WOW! You were able to go further pulling a trailer than my ioniq5 long range will go without a trailer! And you still had 16% left!!! My ioniq5 is 225 mi max and that's from 100% to 0%

    I like your take, Katie. It does seem like the Universe is pointing you in the direction of the Rivian. (Or maybe it’s GM?)

    When the EA app glitches for me lately I have tried signing out of it and logging back in. That was recommended to me by their help line and it’s turned out to fix the glitch where the app acts like you’re still charging long after you’ve unplugged and got onto to the road. Maybe that might have helped at Lexington or the previous stop where the app wouldn’t activate the charger.

    • @ArtiePenguin1
      @ArtiePenguin1 10 месяцев назад

      Yeah, signing out should work but you can also force close the app and relaunch it. One time the EA app froze on me so I had to use the app on my second phone. It wouldn't even let me authenticate with NFC with my first phone (just kept saying payment declined).
      But I'm not sure the specific issue they faced in the video with the EA app. They could have probably just tried to use NFC to pay. That'll work unless the app is totally glitched/frozen.

    Which year Hummer EV pickup is this. Do you know the battery size? They've been changing so I'm curious which year you had the 2022 or the 2023. Thanks!

    Great video. For towing a charge port on the front passenger would be nice along with the driver rear. Plus, about 40 more kwh battery pack. 250 kwh battery pack would be great.

      For us, as long as we had chargers closer together this would be plenty. But I'll always take more.

      in comparison to Norway the Charging in Noth American looks like a game. this is sad, but it will improve over time. Especially with nacs changes.

    What's your opinion on that glass roof?
    It looks like it doesn't block the summer heat

      @AllElectricFamily  9 месяцев назад +1

      It blocked it fine enough for us. We had 5 bodies and and a dog so we should have noticed if it was bad.

    12:10 What happened with all that stopped traffic? Was there an accident or just something like construction?
    18:35 Just tap your phone with the EA app open to the NFC area above the card reader to pay with your EA account. You don't need to use your credit card and pay the full rate.

      It was construction down to one lane.
      Last summer that wasn't working for us but I did figure that out on a separate trip and has been working since. Thanks for the help

    Having a Chevy Bolt EUV and enduring the pain of slow fast charging. Seeing the hummer EV in action seems worse when you are towing then Bolt EUV not towing. The time you have off work is valuable and too much was spent charging the car and not being at your destination.

    Won’t it be nice when that new charging network from the consortium of automakers comes online and you don’t have to depend so much on EA?

    Hey Steve, you don't really have to drive more slowly uphill just because your consumption is higher. You're going to get that back on the downhill, so sticking with a steady rate should work out fine.
    If you give me some gross weights I could figure out the expected energy cost of elevation changes, then you could subtract that out to figure out your true "net" energy use, or add it to your needed state of charge so you can fine tune when to leave a charger.
    Edit: If I ballpark your total weight around 17,000 lbs, that works out to roughly 1 kWh for every 100 feet of elevation - or, since you run around 1 mi/kWh, one range mile. Let me know if that seems to hold - does a 3,000 foot elevation change cost you about 30 extra range miles? And do you get that much additional range when coming down?

    At least Ford and Rivian, and maybe Tesla in the future should really make pull through stations for the trucks that are likely to be pulling trailers. Can't blame EA (VW) or Tesla (so far) since they don't make trucks.

      Actually, our gas powered vehicles have been borrowing against our future as a viable species. It's a very high interest loan that's gonna cost a LOT to pay off.

  • @denvera1g1

    IMO the EV movement is killing itself with -public- away from home charging.
    Gas stations figured this schidt out 50 years ago, 99% of gas stations are covered and easy access for all types of vehicles.
    Most EV charging stations can only properly accomidate small vehicles with charge ports in speciffic locations, let alone a vehicle with a trailer.
    Most EV charging stations are fully open to the weather, which not only makes them more hostile to the user, but also break down more often.
    Why dont charge stations have roofs. Heck put solar pannels on a normal small 4 pump station and you have enough power to get fast charging of around 40-70kw for a single vehicle.
    Why dont these companies partner with gas stations to add a pump, and convert the pump roof into solar, and maybe add solar to the detached convenience store to charge a second vehicle.
    Backup power for if the grid is down, faster charging without needing to upgrade the grid service, cheaper utilities/ higher margins.

    • @denvera1g1
      @denvera1g1 8 месяцев назад

      Also, $/minute is not going to fly for anyone other than enthusiasts/early adoperts willing to overlook problems like this. imagine if gas stations, instead of charging $/gal, instead charged $/GVWR
