Firstly I'd just like to say you have no idea how much this means to me. I essentially grew up in this woodshed. It's owned by my family, but my Dad was the one who made it into the local drinking spot. This gave me so much nostalgia, as my Dad passed away when I was 9. The memory of the woodshed is one of the few still tangible things I have of him. From the bottom of my heart, thankyou for taking the time. And needless to say the photos came out perfect.
Hi Jess, makes my experience all the more special to hear your story. So happy that you enjoyed the video. If you go to my website and make contact through the contacts page, I will send you through all the pictures. Thanks and take care
Hi Paul. Welcome back. Looking forward to more lovely pictures
I must say, that shot through the window with the hill in the background as awesome, it’s one of those photos that just, well works. Doesn’t need to be messed with too much of you have good natural light.
Thanks Brian
Paul ...... Love your style you amaze me with your patient.
Welcome back, Paul. I am looking forward to seeing more of your work, again.
Many thanks!
Dear good to you back. I watch your videos because I sometimes suffer from stress and anxiety, and enjoy watching photographers like yourself taking what call slow photographs. There are three photographers I seek out when I need to de-stress. Yourself, Martin Henson, and Craig Prentice. Your videos, the slow relaxed pace and technique, plus the results you produce are totally addictive. Keep up the the good work. Fantastic video.
Thanks mate
glad to see you back! love your peacefull vids. Thank you!
It is so very nice to hear again that "Welcome to New Zealand" of you. Thanks so much for this Paul! Greetings from Mexico!!

Paul, good to see your film photography again. Keep going !
Thanks, will do!
Hopefully the timber of the building will be salvage and not thrown away as garbage. There are demolition firms specialized in salvaging materials. Beautiful photos as always. Greetings from Portugal.
Obrigada!
Nice to see you back paul
This is our farm, and this was my brother's shed. A place to relax, unwind, shoot the breeze. Where friends and family were welcome at any time. And the last place I got to hang out with him.
Thankyou!
Great to see you back in action Paul! Loved the old stove I saw early on and the shot at 6:22!! Of course that film... Bravo Bro.
Great to see you back.
Thanks Scott
Stunningly beautiful shots as always Paul
Cheers Brett
Thanks Paul. Gorgeous images and such a great presentation. Nice to see your enthusiasm again. I’m sure the owner of the old woodshed will appreciate your capture of such a moment in time.
Gorgeous footage...
Its really good to see you back Paul :-)
Thanks mate
Hi Paul! Again, you found a very good photo theme to capture! B&W photography is very well connected to abandoned houses! I hope you can apply again on a regular basis to get my thoughts a little further away from the war in the neighboring country! Nice lights! ✌️✌️✌️ regards Tamás
Thankyou Tamas stay safe
@@PaulCSmithPhotographer Thank you Paul!
The falling rain outside really added to the ambiance. Such a history can still be found inside that old building, glad it hasn't been disturbed much in so many years. Nice that the former owner's son, Jesse could see this and comment; really makes it more personal. Wonderful photos and commentary!
Great Video Paul, I've been thinking about you! Interesting old woolshed
I love your videos. They have such a cinematic feel to them Plz keep them coming
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Marc
He's really back :-)
Cheers mate
It's great to have you back. The colour images are just so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Picked up a cheap Canon EOS 500N with the 28 - 80mm kit lens in near new condition off Trade Me last week. Bought some B/W film and loaded the camera to test it. First time shooting film since the late 1980's....
I'd forgotten how different shooting film was to shooting digital. Biggest difference is shooting film makes you stop and think about what you're taking a picture of, compared to shooting digital... 😊
glad to see you making new work and sharing with all of us
Damn, that looks so good!
Grazi!
Lovely video Paul! Thanks for sharing! Really great way to document it. I like both the film and digital images!
I am a bit behind on watching some od my favourite channels, but I an excited to get back to your videos!
Hey mate thanks for watching, I appreciate the feedback!
Born and bred on the land. I grew up in buildings just like this. Still remember the life and energy as the sheds were used at various times of the year. I too like to document these old buildings as they slowly disappear.
So many memories and stories in these old farm buildings that have in many cases seen generations of people work the land.
Your images remind me of photos I took at Endeans Mill.
Oh! Love the ambience of this video, gorgeous shed, so NZ, loved the ilford shots 😀
Welcome back, love your work. Keep it going!
Great to see you back again Paul. Lovely images which really capture the feel of the place.

Nice one sir. Beautiful images as always. Take care.

film killed it
Loved this video Paul. Such a cool idea to capture images of buildings that have seen better days for posterity. Keep up the great work.
Cheers Alan, hope you are well? Take care!
I haven't shoot any analog lately...like a year or so. Thanks for showing some fine film photos. I just went out shooting f ilm again. Thanks for the inspiration mate:-)
My pleasure thanks for watching!
I can hear those goofy spur-wing plovers in the background. We have them here in Australia and they are nuts!
They are awful things, give me a Magpie anyday.
Ton travail est remarquable Paul ! Continue de nous faire rêver ! 👍👏
Merci je suis humble
I love the shot at 7:46
Number one on my youtube viewing chart this week. The chart is run by me, compiled by me, and to be honest, I’m the only actual voter that takes part, BUT, still number one by a long way. Love your style of working, your presentation, and especially the end results, thanks Paul 👍👍
Thanks Peter honoured to top your list!
Nice to see you out shooting again Paul. I had been dealing with a rather tough episode of depression this evening when I decided to see what I could find to view on RUclips. I was very glad to find a new video from you waiting for me. My goodness that old shed contained a cornucopia of texture. Thanks for this - it helped.
P.S. I also wanted to let you know that I enjoyed the book I ordered from you a while back.
Thankyou mate that means a lot. Stay positive & take care!
I have been primarily a film shooter for about 5 years now. Just last night in a box in the garage i found four rolls of Kodak Portra 160 NC. The sticker on it says $7.91 and 7/2002. Can’t wait to shoot it and see how it comes out. :)
Very atmospheric with the sound of the rain. Great images. When are you going up that hill so we can see it.
Thats on the list
Great stuff !!! Love window light ! ............ 18 months ? It's good to keep searching and growing but Dude !!! :D
And then the eternal question 'is film better than digital ?' In this case - yes.
Shared with Facebook group "Abandoned nz." May generate a few extra views.
Thanks Mark
I am totally amazed that over all those years of abandonment, the structure and contents not gone walking! Guess ay off beaten track or simply folks in NZ are more honest. Your images great. Me, I don't like Delta or Kodak's version. Take too long to fix! It eats up fixer. I stayed away from film but not as long as 18 months!
Genuinely very good, the balance between cinematography and stills both digital and film was spot on. One question, you refer to your digital camera but not what it is. I’d be interested to know.
Its an Olympus EM1 MK2
@@PaulCSmithPhotographer well it certainly delivers too! I might have to ‘borrow’ my old man’s!
Ps great message in your video today. Looks like a great lifestyle choice.
Film haitus? You should go back and visit the old beach scenes before you moved. I think they were your most iconic and powerful images ever.
Yes need to make a road trip back to the coast.
Great stuff as always. Any plans for new "real" book ?
Not sure will definitely have a new book in the future, I am playing with the idea of a new Ebook in the interim.
Is the "Hitchcock"-pose on your identity-image on purpose ? I suppose so !
No, just an artistic coincidence. 😊
Absolutely awesome images and the social history scattered everywhere in this small spot. Congratulations Paul you really did a great job with this video , quality
Just great to see you back and finding your groove again Paul, genuinely missed your videos, you have such a unique perceptive!
Thank you kindly!
