If GFX sensor "cut in halph horizontally (to place in two cameras)" this will perfectly match Xpan proportions. This is what Fuji should do for TX-3 in my opinion. Crop on post is not interesting, I'd do not accept this personally. Untill TX-3 do not exist, I'd buy TX-1/2 but not GFX. I actually do have TX-1 - the best camera for me.
I just picked up a GFX 50Sii partially for this reason. The new kit zoom is wonderful and is a 28mm ff equivalent on the widest end which I find the perfect focal length, equal to the XPan. Also, the GFX has quickly become my favorite camera to adapt older film lenses to. I’ve been using Leica M and Pentax 67 lenses on it and I love the results. Sales pitch over.
Have a 50r. I've found that shooting the 65x24 aspect ratio is an enjoyable phase but have challenged myself this year to only shoot the native 4x3 aspect and try to fill up the entire sensor with interest. Only a slight crop in post if required but in the 4x3 aspect. Shooting mainly landscapes it's harder than it looks! and really pushes you to decide what to include in the frame. When you capture a good image you know it! Will never sell my 50r. Its coming to the grave with me. lol..

I never comment on videos. But this is the best and most engrossing camera review i have ever seen. it goes against the norms and makes a simple video unbelievably cinematic. 11/10
The wide aspect ratio is so emotionally compelling. It offers a story within a bigger story. The man on the street and his surroundings are captured together as their interactions get frozen in time. The people playing on the beach look lively but insignificant against the massive cold grey bridge. Your excellent eye behind this lens makes the world exquisite. The interplay of opposites. Life and the built world. Micro within macro. Center and periphery. So cool! Amazing video, story telling, sound design and overall production value. Insta subscribe.
Did I... did I just watch a movie about a camera that take pictures like shots of a movie? Geez this production is on a level of its own. I am impressed, great job!
Has anyone noticed that the Hasselblad Xpan shutter button that appears in the video is not the original? I have the Fuji TX1 and that wooden button in the video cannot be screwed in any way. It appears to have been glued over the original shutter release, which seems a bit risky on a camera of this value.
I am a total fan of the video because of the well executed production. Also the sound designing and sound editing is criminally underrated. It is so well layered.

I love how good this is. It talks about an aspect of a 90s camera in a way that makes you feel that you are watching the camera's movie. Btw, I am buying that 28mm lens.
man that camera is a legend. I wish they would make something similar again. I know some lenses permit something similar, but the width of that thing was a thing of beauty. Just look at the amount of legendary photographers who used it.
I'm not even into photography but these images made me want this camera. It's so amazing how meaningful those pictures look. I feel like I can conect with them in a deeper way. Isn't it funny? The last time I felt this for an image was when I discovered Edward Hopper
Thank you for the inspiration! After watching this marvelous video, I've shot my next concert only with Canon FD 2/24mm, which has been laying on my shelf for past two years or so and then I did cropping to 2.35:1. The result was beyond my expectations. I didn't like this lens so much in the past, but when I used it differently and with cropping the pictures afterwards in mind, it completely changed the look of the resulting photos and I'm really satisfied. Thank you! Oh yes, and the sound of your video. Mmmmmmmmuck!

You, sir, have earned my subscription. If i could subscribe 20 times i would. The production quality, the sound design, the post-processing, everything is just top-notch if not beyond.
Lots to like in this video including the video itself. Nicely produced. As a fan of Kubrick's 2001 and Scott's Blade Runner (and anamorphic/Panavision film look in general), this camera immediately got my attention. Those photos are stunning. As a film reference - your electronic voice change is exactly like the audio voice effect used in the film '2010 The Year We Make Contact' in the scene when Bowman warns Dr Floyd that 'something wonderful will happen'
Our idea for the voice was for it to sound like that alien with the weird headset in The Phantom Menace, in the beginning, who says,”They’ve gone up the ventilation shaft!” Lol
One of my favorite of all your videos so far. Not because of the camera discussed or the panoramic medium, but because of the inspiring mood of the photos you showed and the narrative feel created by the editing and music. I felt like I was inside a relaxed cyberpunk iteration of a slightly dystopian alternative modern Asia.
I wonder what focal length in 35mm format would correlate to X pan's focal lengths if we were to crop the images. This filmic take on photos is definitely intriguing and something I would like to try.
I have been watching a lot and I mean A LOT of different creators in my life which is as long that I can say: I am a VHS-Kid so I’ve seen some things. And your style, your art direction for ME, personally, is so on point. It is freaking insane that I haven’t found your channel only now by chance! Chapeau and keep it up.
this definitely feels like something i'd save my money for one day as a birthday gift for myself. I always found myself in awe of just landscapes being filmed in movies, they always looked so pretty
this sound strange but you ignited something inside of me which i thought i would have never had. the pictures are so stunning i really want the knowledge just to have a fragment of taking pictures like this, unfortunatly i know that hassleblad vintage stuff have a special place and its price but even though the magic these analog cameras have is tremendous...
GFX sensor, being split horizontally - I mean produced this way: two panoramic sensors instead of one - will give perfect TX-1 ratio and this (building around panoramic sensor) is what Fuji needs to do instead of croping.
@@GxAce Thanks for that. I'm sure they don't read my comments. :D I've found that with my XPro3, adapting a 17mm lens, telling the camera I'm adapting a 26mm lens, and using the OVF framelines for a 16:9 aspect ratio gets me a pretty reasonable guide for cropping in post. It seems like it has a pretty similar field of view to what the 45mm would on the XPan... But dang do I want them to just do it normally.
@@SuperSuperka Such a camera is no substitute for a crop. Not even close. Suppose a GFX mount camera with a sensor about 51.5mm by 19mm or so, to match the image circle. That'd be in the TX-1 ratio. It'd still cost $5000. No good for me or for nearly anyone else. Might as well not exist, same as the XPan itself might as well not exist for us. Even if they made one, any reasonable Fuji fan would be banging the drum for a crop in their normal cameras.
Hi GX, great video as usual. I have an XPan and was always under the impression (I could be wrong and I’m up for a discussion as its always interested me) that the 45mm in pano mode had the depth of a 45mm lens but the width of a 28mm lens…meaning that the resulting image (especially apparent with close up portraits) was unique to the XPan…basically as it had the compression of the 45mm it renders more background blur and a tighter in feel but with extra width (sorry that’s quite hard to explain)……a 28mm lens on a 35mm sensor/film would just have the depth and width of the 28mm lens? The 45mm when switched back to single 35mm standard mode resembles a normal 45mm lens on a 35mm sensor/film. A better way to get the XPan look would be to crop a 6x7 image down to the XPan ratio as the width & compression of the 6x7 area of image is more similar.
Sounds like you are confusing it with an anamorphic lens! Anamorphic lenses widen horizontally but keep the vertical focal length, if you will. The XPAN uses a spherical lens with a larger image circle to cover this dual 35mm width and is essentially cropping down for a medium format image circle. Depth of field and compression are mathematically equivalent with lenses of different focal lengths on different sensor sizes. Remember, the sensor size is just “cropping” a usable section out of image circle the lens is projecting.
@@GxAce thank you for clearing that up, really appreciated. I actually bought the Great Joy 50mm anamorphic lens last month and pair it on my SL2-s…I use a monitor to desqueeze 1.8 so I can see what I’m photographing and the results have been amazing, especially close up environmental portraits. I’m sure you have tried this method before but if not then it’s good fun to try for cinema shots. Keep up the videos, I love them

Its coming to the grave with me. lol..
@@nowisthetime6093 Cool! Just out of interest, how easy is it to handhold the 50r in terms of getting non-blurry pics?
this actually made me giggle a little. the serious tone just comes off funny bahhah

this is a masterpiece. Congrats with the views it's getting 👏
This might be the coolest photography video on YT 🤙
Thanks so much, Thomas! Also, congrats on your new XPAN! What a coincidence haha.
Dude could have just said "This camera is pretty good" and left it at that. He went out of his way to make a movie about why this camera is good. Subscribed.
So I searched for 1 hour for this video clip, strongly remembering it from watching it 8 months ago. That is how good this clip is... in the sea of endless clips on RUclips this stands out HARD!
wow amazing
I don't know what is up with this video, the images, the narrative, the music and atmosphere....I'm blown away and immediatly want to buy a camera like this. I feel like I watched content of the future somehow. Amazing job!
I agree. He has a very soothing voice. Although I'm not convinced he is a real person, but an A.I. ha ha. Great salesman too. I also want this camera now
Wow. This is by far the best video I've ever seen on a camera. I was totally expecting a normal review like any other, but this is a piece of art. Thought about shooting some wider aspect ratios for the last weeks, and although this isn't the style I was going for, these images really opened my eyes. A very big thank you for the inspiration and hats off to anyone who helped to make this video happen!

God damn, this video just hit something in my soul.
Because I can’t afford an X Pan anymore I have been haunted by this production because I love 65:24…. so after watching this a long time ago eventually I bought a GFX 50R. Ironically this bigger is slowly creeping up in price as well but will never I think be like the XPan! What a camera! What a production!
Having read the comments, I feel like I would just be piling on by complimenting your work, but as a tv/film worker I can't help but feel impressed as hell. Watching your stuff is like stepping into a different, fully fleshed out, world that just happens to feature info on cameras. I am looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Another incredible piece of content. Would you ever be up to a behind-the-scenes video about how you create these videos? the sets you build to show the cameras, the music, even "what the heck are you?? photographer, fabricator, storyteller, so many facets! i cant imagine anyone here not being interested in this. thanks for all the amazing content!
Thanks so much! I post behind the scenes content over at patreon.com/gxace
Same!
Every video you make shows me another side of photography I didn’t know and instantly makes me want to go out and shoot with whatever camera the video was about 😂 thanks for the new perspectives
This camera review felt like I’m watching a blockbuster movie
I am just in awe of the production value, the visual elements, the sounds and everything else that comes with it. I thank the algo gods who made this video appear on my feed.
Finally a collab with david! You both such thoughtful approaches cameras and making photos
Dave is an awesome dude! We filmed this footage 3 years ago ahah
Why do i get goosebumbs watching this video! My man you made something special, you are something special! Casey, buddy. I have a hard time expressing how cool this is. You know how much I love my own TX1, and this “ode” is perfect.
I just viewed it on my 65 oled with my atmos sound system.
Your production is beyond anything on this platform. Soundscape is insane, grading is world class.
Now let’s take these cameras to Iceland, shall we? 💪🏼
I really appreciate the kind words, and the willingness to view it on a good setup :). Dude, I literally cannot wait to go to Iceland hahah. Let’s do it!
Your videos are a cinematic masterpiece from start to finish…
Between the look, the editing and stills that actually look like from a movie I had to search the camera mid way to make sure it's real and this is not a CGI video :))
Truly incredible!
Hands down this is the most professional, emotive and artistic video I have seen on RUclips ! The quality of your art and production is stunning !
for God's sake ho could you pull this much of production quality ??????😭😭😍

this product review is a cinematic masterpiece
This video is single handedly responsible for re-igniting my love of photography, the content that Gxace produces is exactly what I want to engage with and exactly why I don't need to watch TV anymore
How the heck can you be a master cinematographer using his resources and skill on some truly epic YT content, huh?! It’s amazing! You’re amazing! Hot damnint I’m grateful for your videos.
Easily one of my new favorite channels that I always get excited for when a new video drops. I'm super happy I was able to discover your channel and the motivation that it gave me to pursue photography. I've watched your videos so much that I went ahead and picked up a camera of my own to start shooting. Hopefully I'll have my Xe4 come next week and I can start my journey into this world of photography! Thank you so much @GxAce, for being such an inspiration and making absolutely stunning content. Cheers!
Videos should be popping up more frequently soon! Stay tuned
Holy Jesus Christ, the production of this video is godlike. I've never seen anything like this. Wow man.
I never comment on videos. But this is the best and most engrossing camera review i have ever seen. it goes against the norms and makes a simple video unbelievably cinematic. 11/10
Your level of passion and detail to your work is truly staggering and incredibly inspiring.
You are an incredibly talented photographer dude. You couldn't just hand that camera to anybody and get images that look like they are from a movie.
Yes you can, that's why this camera is highly sought after specifically for this feature.
@@PutsOnSneakers you seem to know things, any chance this camera will be reproduced?

@@PutsOnSneakers twice the price from when it was initially released? What is the model name? Thanks
I come back to this video every 2 days or so and just rewatch the photo montage segment, it is both calming and inspiring
wow. this is the best video i have ever seen in my life! please keep making this masterpiece, im interested in seeing more of your works
Did I... did I just watch a movie about a camera that take pictures like shots of a movie?
Geez this production is on a level of its own. I am impressed, great job!
Has anyone noticed that the Hasselblad Xpan shutter button that appears in the video is not the original? I have the Fuji TX1 and that wooden button in the video cannot be screwed in any way. It appears to have been glued over the original shutter release, which seems a bit risky on a camera of this value.
This video is just insane alone, the quality and productions is bonkers to me feels like a high budget movie. Props to you!

What did I just watch? The camera is dope but this video just made it that much better. You sir is what legends are made of. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
man that camera is a legend.
Interesting testimony ! Hello what is the meaning of the 2/ before 24mm when you speak of the Canon lens ?

Our idea for the voice was for it to sound like that alien with the weird headset in The Phantom Menace, in the beginning, who says,”They’ve gone up the ventilation shaft!” Lol
good lord, this video is beautiful. everything about it, the sets, the framing, the music,,,, oooh it's so good
Jesus C.H. Rist, this is maybe the best video I have ever seen on RUclips. The shots at the beginning combined with the sound design, gave me chills.
This filmic take on photos is definitely intriguing and something I would like to try.

this sound strange but you ignited something inside of me which i thought i would have never had. the pictures are so stunning i really want the knowledge just to have a fragment of taking pictures like this, unfortunatly i know that hassleblad vintage stuff have a special place and its price but even though the magic these analog cameras have is tremendous...
Fuji really needs to put the TX-1 65:24 aspect ratio into their X-mount cameras, not just their GFX. Irks me to no end that they haven't.
And with the new 40 mpx sensors it would make sooooo much sense.
I literally tell them this everytime I talk to their marketing people haha
GFX sensor, being split horizontally - I mean produced this way: two panoramic sensors instead of one - will give perfect TX-1 ratio and this (building around panoramic sensor) is what Fuji needs to do instead of croping.
@@GxAce Thanks for that. I'm sure they don't read my comments. :D
I've found that with my XPro3, adapting a 17mm lens, telling the camera I'm adapting a 26mm lens, and using the OVF framelines for a 16:9 aspect ratio gets me a pretty reasonable guide for cropping in post.

Chills. What a beautiful video. Goosebumps all over.
