  • What is the difference between an overdenture on dental implants and a fixed bridge on dental implants? Dr Bruno Silva explains how an overdenture on just two dental implants can help stabilise an uncomfortable lower denture. Teeth on 4 is a solution using 4 dental implants and a fixed bridge. Brighton implant clinic provide affordable dental implant treatment at 4 branches across Sussex, our clinics are located at Worthing, Hove, Brighton and Hailsham.

    It gets soooo annoying reading comments about people complaining about the prices. First off....you literally can save 75% by going to Costa Rica, Mexico, India, Thailand ECT and please don't think for a second that American Dentists are any better. The work is the same, the materials are the same, the choices are the same the only difference is the price. Plus most overseas locations offer a LIFETIME GUARANTEE. Now... before you continue to be negative and complain about...what happens if I have problems? Well depending on where you live you can probably travel back to that country a dozen times and still save money. My best friend is a dentist in Mexico...I have been there six times and I have gone with her to the stores, labs ECT and it's absolutely insulting how much these American Dentists are marking up the prices. Absolutely insulting. So do yourselves a favor...stop complaining...do some research...go overseas and then after a year or two make a video and put am end to these greedy American Dentists. It's the only way to stop them from charging ridiculous amounts of money.

    Just had all my teeth pulled and got immediate dentures. Already hate them. Am already setup to go in and get overdentures with the implants to sustain them later on in the year... I think its around 13k I was quoted because my dental insurance is already maxed out from the surgery.. Just how much more is the all on 4 cost in comparison?

    I noticed you get a full set of teeth on an overdenture. You don’t get the last 2/3 two on all on four. I’d rather go for the overdenture. Plus the overdentures gum to go all the way up to the top of the mouth. But all on four have to shave the bone down and it looks funny

    If you have dental insurance, I think the insurance should cover all the cost. Because each year, you get allowance amount. If you have to get dentures, after you get them. You will not have to see the dentist again for few years. Just my opinion, dentures are what you need to eat with. They should be considered as cosmetics, like breast implants.

    Are 6 implants significantly better (in terms of retention, stability, etc.) than 4 implants on the lower arch (mandible) overdenture?

    • @brunodentist
      @brunodentist  3 года назад +2

      yes in some cases more implants can be better, however for an overdenture usually 4 implants will work well, it does depend on the position of the 4 implants. The distribution and position of the implants is probably just as important

    Hi dr thank you for answering and my biggest concern is loosing facial structure it happened to my mom the dentist I saw told me I have good bone tissue, unlike a lot of my family members who were told they have bone lose I'm going back to see him some time this week he took 2 different impression already I was told one of my dentures will be temporary made of wax so I can still be in public without feeling embarrassed and then I get my permanent ones he said I should be done in February , I also have Medicaid to pay for the removal of my teeth and temporary denture I'm paying for the implants and snap in denture I'm just a little confused when watching so many different u-tube channels? hi leelen, thanks for the message, there are several questions that you need to ask your dentist, there are advantages for each option that you could get, overdentures are particularly good for aeshetic results, the overdenture can replace not only lost bone tissue but gum tissues as well. They are generally larger and will cover more of the ridges but they are removable so can be easily cleaned. If you opt for smaller or thinner type fixed bridges then you may have less bone lip support and this could affect the facial profile and aesthetics. You need to check with your dentist to be sure that your dental treatment is the correct treatment for your needs and expectations. If you need any more information let me know.

    Hi Dr!
    I have a question. Nov 1 I am having All on 6 done and having 20 teeth extracted at the same time. Is the temporary bridge essentially an overdenture so I heal for 6-8 months or do they place the zirconia implants immediately? Thanks for any help.

    • @brunodentist
      @brunodentist  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Tucson, I would check with your surgeon as to what the plan is on the day of surgery. It really is important that you know all of the possible outcomes of treatment on the day of surgery. I recommend you send any queries or doubts you have to your surgeon and ask them to clarify what will happen on the day of surgery. Good luck.

    The reason why I like the overdenture better is because you get 14 teeth and you get those two extra molars in the back. Most of the all on for us we only get 12 teeth. So you only get those two big molars in the back of the mouth. Which is normally fine. But when you open your mouth wide or smile wide you can see there’s a gap behind your last two teeth.

    • @BrunoSilva-ox2es

      not recommended, for upper full overdenture it is best to use 4 or more implants, preferably the implants should be joined together with a bar to provide more rigidity

    The dentist said you can "upgrade" overdentures to the all-on-4. Is this true? Is there anything I need to know about this?

    • @brunodentist
      @brunodentist  5 лет назад

      the implants function like fixation points, you can secure a denture to the implants or alternatively if there are sufficiently strong implants in place then teeth can be fixed to the implants. You would need to discuss in detail with your dentist

    overdenture needs to be replaced after 6 months???? OMG, who can pay that ??

    • @brunodentist
      @brunodentist  5 лет назад

      hi Nina, yes this requires maintenance, not sure why that is OMG, the overdenture will become less retentive over time, teeth will be biting together hundreds of times a day, cope with varying differences in temperature and pressures, so will need regular maintenance. If you have any more question please let us know.

    About 6 months ago, i got all on 4s... Well. Its been a very trying experience to say the least. Most painful experience. I just had my second proceedure a week ago.... Boy i wish i would have just gotten dentures.

    • @BrunoSilva-ox2es
      @BrunoSilva-ox2es 3 года назад

      I am really sorry to hear that you have had a painful experience. Most procedures are not painful and can be manage with analgesics. Its possible that your surgery is more complex than normal and with it being only the first week after surgery you cant see the real benefit of fixed teeth. I am sure that as everything settles down it will become more comfortable and you will see that implants are way better than dentures. If you need any advice let us know
