The video shows the heptagonal bokeh of 50mm f.4 D. The new 50mm F1.4 G has a diaphragm with NINE blades(rounded), then the bokeh will be a Nonagon or almost a circle.
The 1.8 looks like it takes sharper images at pretty much every aperture to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but really is what it looks like in this video and many of the others I've seen.
+Ricardo Heras Unfortunately I had only the jpgs, created a google photo album: plus.google.com/photos/102059416456963251620/albums/6249339563839885361
I guess No! Because here we can see what we get for the same price. 1.4D is awful....the worst 50mm lens ever. Just look at the bokeh screws on 2.8...and it is not sharp at all....damn...is it possible at all???
The 1.4D has perfectly round broken at 1.4, which you don't show. You have a good idea for a comparison because many have the 1.4D and wonder if the should get one of the newer AF-S 50's, the 1.8G being better in many respects to the 1.4G. But, without showing the best each lens can do, this video is POINTLESS.
The can of coke on the D says pick me up I am real while on the G it says watch this photo.
other than the lights in the background, 1.4's bokeh seems to be creamier,
The color contrast on the G is crazy good.
@KaonNeutre thanks for your visit, you are perfectly right. I'll try to do that in another video.
Daniel's Trains can you tell me the shutter speed or perhaps ISO both of them? it seems 1.8G looks sharper and even brighter on bokeh in this video.
thanks buddy
Why not showing f/1.4 vs f/1.8 to see the max bokeh for both lenses???

I don't understand the difference. Can you tell me which one is better. I believe it is 1.8G from the visuals.
fajne porównanie, chyba niema sensu dopłacac do 1.4
yes jnrmrtn, its a 1.4D
f/1.8g has better bokeh and looks sharper
Isn't the whole point of bokeh to look smooth and not sharp..LMAO:)
Without samples in bright sunlight this comparison doesn't mean much... The 1.8G is the better lens, but this video doesn't really show that
Your wallet agrees, so does mine!
That's a 1.4D right?
definitely, I was made a correct decision to get the F/1.8G
:)
like that's the whole POINT
1.8g much better contrast and nice bokeh balls
do yo have the nef? can i download it?

+Daniel's Trains oh thank you i want to look it. I dont now which to buy. Sorry my bad english
1.8G :)
If you are using Nikon 50mm f/1.4 D vs Nikon 50mm f/1.8 G... Shouldn't you compare the 1.8 to the 1.4 G version instead?

yes, 1.4 is better but double the price
Are u sure? It is the worst lens ever!!! Just look that crazy screws on 2.8. And 1.8 is much sharper!
