Nikon 50mm 1.8G TEST

Testing the new Nikon 50mm 1.8G lens Camera Nikon D90, low light conditions Music - Garage Band
The color contrast on the G is crazy good.
The can of coke on the D says pick me up I am real while on the G it says watch this photo.
Without samples in bright sunlight this comparison doesn't mean much... The 1.8G is the better lens, but this video doesn't really show that
That GarageBand jingle thou 😜
The 1.4D has perfectly round broken at 1.4, which you don't show. You have a good idea for a comparison because many have the 1.4D and wonder if the should get one of the newer AF-S 50's, the 1.8G being better in many respects to the 1.4G. But, without showing the best each lens can do, this video is POINTLESS.
f/1.8g has better bokeh and looks sharper
Isn't the whole point of bokeh to look smooth and not sharp..LMAO:)
do yo have the nef? can i download it?
+Ricardo Heras Unfortunately I had only the jpgs, created a google photo album: plus.google.com/photos/102059416456963251620/albums/6249339563839885361
+Daniel's Trains oh thank you i want to look it. I dont now which to buy. Sorry my bad english
The 1.8 looks like it takes sharper images at pretty much every aperture to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but really is what it looks like in this video and many of the others I've seen.
thanks buddy
If you are using Nikon 50mm f/1.4 D vs Nikon 50mm f/1.8 G... Shouldn't you compare the 1.8 to the 1.4 G version instead?
I guess No! Because here we can see what we get for the same price. 1.4D is awful....the worst 50mm lens ever. Just look at the bokeh screws on 2.8...and it is not sharp at all....damn...is it possible at all???
1.8G :)
Daniel's Trains can you tell me the shutter speed or perhaps ISO both of them? it seems 1.8G looks sharper and even brighter on bokeh in this video.
other than the lights in the background, 1.4's bokeh seems to be creamier,
So basically, where ever possible, step into the subject point with maximum aperture until focus is lost, then take a step back and re-focus. It's only at distant focal points with minimal aperture that the boke is obvious. Only the 1.4G can overcome this, though for most, is not cost effective initially. Besides, there is always post editing. I like this lens a lot. It's light, has great colour saturation with somewhat minimal lens flare without the hood. It's perfect for on the go shooting.
fajne porównanie, chyba niema sensu dopłacac do 1.4
tq
The video shows the heptagonal bokeh of 50mm f.4 D. The new 50mm F1.4 G has a diaphragm with NINE blades(rounded), then the bokeh will be a Nonagon or almost a circle.
I have a d5100 and I'm wondering which lens should I take, the 35mm or 50mm?
I don't understand the difference. Can you tell me which one is better. I believe it is 1.8G from the visuals.
BOKEH
like that's the whole POINT
@KaonNeutre thanks for your visit, you are perfectly right. I'll try to do that in another video.
Why not showing f/1.4 vs f/1.8 to see the max bokeh for both lenses???
@sonyfreak4069 the first part of the movie is just a Christmas Tree and the focus is somewhere in the front of the tree (manual focus) For example set the camera 6 meters away from the tree, point towards the tree and manually focus at 3 meters so you will see the nice bokeh of the tree lights. Be sure you have the lens set to wider aperture.
the camera is Nikon D90, raw photos not much processing
what camera did you use and do you shout RAW(NEF) or jpeg thanks
Your wallet agrees, so does mine!
@docjonski the lens is also good in video mode nice bokeh see my latest video test with 50mm 1.8g lens
yes jnrmrtn, its a 1.4D
That's a 1.4D right?
@MrZeroeight08 the background music is done by me using Garage Band for iPad using free loops.
what is the title of the BG music??? nice :)
definitely, I was made a correct decision to get the F/1.8G :)
1.8g much better contrast and nice bokeh balls
1.8G is better than D, it is faster, better bokeh.
dude i got d90 also... just wanna ask about w/c is better 1.8 G or D for d90?
thanks @forthewin136, it is really a great lens!
Awesome sample video man! Helped a lot since I'm thinking of getting this lens.
yes, 1.4 is better but double the price
Are u sure? It is the worst lens ever!!! Just look that crazy screws on 2.8. And 1.8 is much sharper!
