The top strut bears are very thin, small and in-cased in a nylon type case. Not so difficult to change, I actually replaced mine without removing the strut. However very dangerous as you could loose a finger or 3-4 should you fail to take the precautions. Maybe better to undo what need to be undone and remover the strut. You will be in need of heavy duty spring compressors. TAKE GREAT CARE. THIS IS DANGEROUS. PLEASED TO SEE ANOTHER VIDEO. MANY THANKS STAY SAFE AND ENJOY.
Thanks for the tips, @tstuart7333. I've taken the struts out before so I know the dangers. If only I'd replaced the bearings back then 😤 . I've made videos of replacing them too
Merry Christmas to you both 👍🏻👍🏻
Merry Christmas to you too, @pauldownes5345 👍👍
Hi hope you and Zoe are well must admit I’v not been looking at vlogs of late as I personally sick of all the reviews everone is at it it’s getting like whatching advert channels.
We are booked for several trips Northumberland, France, Germany Poland and moor of the uk to 👍🏻
Thanks @user-go6cf2zj7v 👍👍 . We need to plan this year's trips. That looks like a good list there 👍
Asked you both about a live over Christmas ages ago ..dreams do come true . Cheers
You did, @kevinhodge6700 and that gave me the idea 💡 👍
Hi all nice one have a great Christmas see you in the next one 👍🇬🇧
Merry Christmas to you too, @johnhbuiltnotbought4924
Hi Ads. Our 19reg (Mr Leaky) Elddis 155 Supreme has splits in the tyres between the treads. Fronts tiny splits. Rears much bigger and yet it didn't even get mentioned as an advisory in the last MOT! There's plenty of tread depth especially in the rear (23,000miles). Get this. 70lbs front and 80lbs rear. That's a lot. Maximum advised pressure written on the side walls is 80lbs!!!! It's obvious that it's the massive pressure that's making the tyres split. Shaw Tyre & Exhaust told me this year that new rules for motorhome tyres are after 6 years, regardless of wear, they have to be replaced. So it looks like next July we will have a big bill for 4 new tyres, unless the MOT tester lets it go. I don't like the idea of driving on split tyres but if the tester says they're ok I reckon I'm ok with it. What do you think? Have you heard of this new rule? Cheers.
Thanks for commenting, @derektaylor6713. If your tyres are cracked then I'd think about getting them changed. Check out our video from last year when one of our tyres gave up while on holiday due to it being too old and cracking.

Pulling up to your sisters in the motorhome like a scene from National Lampoons Christmas vacation. 😅
Hahaha 🤣 Thanks @Sco1ful 👍👍👍
Result with the fog lights! Always good to have an MoT tester as a ‘pal’!!
Haha, yes, indeed@mmchesh. However, I always want them to be honest and not just "friends will pass" kind of thing.
That was not my inference. A friendly tester is helpful to explain issues, and to understand your moho better.
Definitely 👍👍
Looking forward to the Christmas party 🎉 Em 🎅🎄
That's great news, Em. Here's the link ruclips.net/user/liveV03cJtn07wA?feature=share
That fog light story was quite funny.
Haha. It's the way I tell them, @inlinefourtr 🤣🤣
Hi and Merry Christmas to you and Zoe .
We rarely use our Motorhome in November either. But away at Christmas /Newyear in Devon too . Result with the MOT Think I’d be thinking what’s going on too with the fog lights if I saw someone looking for a while. best wishes
Mark & Hazel
Merry Christmas Mark & Hazel. Thanks for commenting 👍👍
More fixing Herman videos please. I find them very satisfying
Thanks @andyglawe7804 👍👍. I'm glad you like them
I love it when you get an email saying we watch your channel and think it'll be ideal for our products. The last company that contacted me made boxes🤔🤣
I know, they must send out hundreds emails to anyone and everyone.
Love your vlogs akways interesting and entertaining. An idea for a future December video would be a review of your year favorite campsites, favourite places visited and recommendations of items bought or used . Just an idea anyway incase your stuck for ideas . Keep up the good work have a lovely Christmas and New Year cheers .
Thanks for the ideas, @DavidandJacky1964 👍👍
We're glad you enjoy our videos
We got asked to do the teapot too!! 😂. I do actually use one of these glass ones for my Turkish tea every morning (we have one in the house and one in the motorhome). I still didn’t feel that we could do a video on it as it’s really nothing to do with motorhomes, so I politely responded saying I had one already thanks and declined their offer. Next thing is they emailed me back offering to send me a larger pot. I’m the only one that drinks tea so declined again lol!
Our vote for Hermanfest 2024 is Roundhill (despite Tuckers Grave being a lot closer).
Hope to catch you guys on the live on the 23rd at 5pm 👍 Kaz & Pete
Yeah they are insistent aren't they, @CraftyCampervanners? Thanks for commenting 👍👍
Good catch up wonderful life great film think your clock needs a battery 👍
Thanks @raypearless1309 👍👍. Actually, I managed to freeze time while I filmed this 🤣. No, the clock likes to freeze in the cold weather. It's really odd.
Ohh Bingo ... Deep Joy! 😀
Don't you like the bingo, @craigavonvideo ? 🤣👍
Funny you mention it….. we don’t tend to use moho in Nov/ Dec either. Think dank weather is the off-putter. Do always go out early Jan for a couple-few days.
Of course, in January the days are getting longer again, @mmchesh
That’s annoying having to strip front strut out again and have the spring removed to replace the top mount/bearing, I’m glad when I replaced my springs I replaced everything so I could have it assembled and swap over.
Merry Christmas and hope you have good travels in 2024
Yes, it's a bit annoying, @nicholaspayne8151
Merry Christmas to you too 👍👍
We're off to Slimbridge too in Hilda. See you there 😄
When are you going, @alibutler2991? Are you staying at the campsite?
We arrive at the campsite on boxing day. Staying for 4 days. Can't wait
We'll probably see you there then 👍👍
Why review the e-scooter when they are not legal on public roads or pavement’s and only on private and off road, whereas the EBike, if just pedal assist, can be used on the public roads.
Well, there a few things I'd point out, @kinross24
Thank you for the catch up. Do the company do scooters with seats as that would be a great comparison. Glad Herman passed his MOT. Looking forward to Hermanfest so eagerly awaiting the dates and location. Questions 1. What unusual Christmas traditions do you and Zoe have? 2. What are the worst and best things about Herman? Hope to see you for the live on the 23rd. Take care Gill
Great questions, Gill. See you on the 23rd
Hello Hermann !! ;-)
We stay in the east of France and by the end of November the Xmas market period kicks in and that is when we take the camper out (btw I recommend you to visit the Alsacian xmas market: we love it). For this occasion many towns do set specific places to accommodate campers. It's a bit sardine-in-a-box like but it's OK for few days, and cheap. Apart from that we tend not to do anything else until Xmas time and over the last 2 years the weather has been so warm and nice that we took lovely few days in the south of France, by the sea. Eventhough we are ski adicts, few days by the sea refill your personal inner battery like nothing else! -thanks global warming - Thanks for the nice videos over the year and merry Christmas to both of you. Greg.
Thanks @gregc.588 👍👍. How are you spelling the name of the christmas market you've suggested? Google doesn't come up with it. Where is it?
@@HermanHitstheRoad Hi, so there is Kaysersberg (my favorite), Riquewihr ( the nicest), Colmar, Strasbourg- of course, but overated to my opinion, Ribeauvillé, Munster...and many others. The region is Alsace and you can find help and guidance on the Web. Greg.
Thanks so much for the info, Greg 👍
How about reviews of clocks - that actually work - sorry you really set yourself up for that one Great video Happy Xmas to you all ,👍👍👍👍
🤣🤣 I knew someone would mention the clock. It does work but it doesn't like the cold weather. It's very odd
@@HermanHitstheRoad People say that about me all the time!
stick your bingo lol😀 love marmite hate bingo😂
It'll be only for a few minutes, @terry9414. We hope to see you online 👍👍
A bit like your travels, your battery in the clock has stopped😂
Thanks, @sidpf1972
Hello Hermann !! 😄😄
Waccommodate
Calling me Herman? WHY YOU 😤😡🤬
🤣👍👍
Well... I own a B524 2003 hymer, LHD, and when the shocks were replaced, on my ducato 244 basis (yours is 230) it has a bearing on the top.
That said...after the replacement, and alignment, mine drifts to the right, and the rigth side is lower than the left.
Dont know whats going on..
Yeah, there must be a bearing at the top but I don't remember seeing it and it's not in the videos, @danielb.p.4090
Ah 23rd December - my birthday so sounds like a plan
Well, a early happy birthday and Merry Christmas to you, @micro_adVANtures 👍👍
My wife & I, & our pet dog will be staying at a C L in Slimbridge for 2 weeks over Christmas not far from the wild life trust, I wonder if it is the same site? I am a caravaner, but am subscribed to your You Tube channel.
We'll be staying at Tudor Caravan Park, @kenedkins8967
Hope you and Zoe have a cracking Christmas.
I am not sure when we will be able to get out in Nessa, as she is currently in Mercedes having a new gearbox and Hydraulic pump plus hoses. We are waiting on the later coming in from Germany. So I don't think we will be away with her over the Christmas Holidays. Would be nice if we can, as we will take her back to my Wife Aunties farm, which is where we were coming back from when she broke down, back in September.
I hope it all goes well with getting Nessa fixed, @DiggerBuckett 👍. On the bright side at least all this down time is happening now rather in the spring or summer
@@HermanHitstheRoad We normally have the issue of getting her though the MOT just before the big summer holiday. Next year I will be getting her in early for an MOT in February. as we tend to have a Holiday Cottage in February Half Term. As she would get though a lot of Gas trying to keep us warm, especially with the availability of Calor gas still, Calor Gas are an absolute joke these days. I need to start the chase once Nessa is back as we have run out of one of the two 13kg battles. We got a far bit of use out of it, as we stopped heating water till we needed it. or just boiled a kettle if we wanted to wash up a small amount.
Our Motorhome is not used in December, January & February . Next year we might spend the winter in Spain?
Chasing the sun, @neildavies6197 ? Great idea 👍👍
Thanks for your videos - we’ve got the same chassis, so they are really useful. Which engine is in Herman? Is it the 2.8 turbo idTD?
Thanks @mobilvettamotorhome2056 👍👍 . Herman is a 2.5 Diesel
@@HermanHitstheRoad Thanks - is that a non turbo? The reason I’m interested is we have the turbo mechanical injection engine and I’m trying to track down info on it.
It's just a 2.5 diesel. No turbo
Hi Adrian
I have HYMER C594 2003 in your video you said would like to travel to France I wondered watt the the problems
With an older Diesel regarding low Emissions when traveling in Europe, Also towing A FIAT on A frame witch has
Brakes and electric work on car own systems when brakes in Hymer are applied ,hope this make sense to you not
Verry good spelling or doing Email
Thanks and all best for new year
Chris Straker
Hi Chris, I guess we'll find out about the low emission areas if we go to Europe.
As far as I know towing a car on an A-frame where the car's wheels aren't in contact with the road is OK in France but using something like Tow-A-Frame where the car's wheels, brakes and lights are used are not allowed in France. I'm not 100% sure about that so please check
Ref E scooter, remember not road legal
I know that, @rogerlathbury9860 and that'll be one of my negative points to make. Thanks 👍👍
I had advisory on my van years ago rear wheel bearing, didn't bother doing it,3 m.o.ts later rear wheel bearing never mentioned again,??
Very odd, @johneaston1215 !!
Happy Christmas to you wife I know it sounds funny why not do any bike review and after review do give away e bike in one of your videos as some people dream off but one never can afford to buy one ?
That's a nice idea, @mrstephenparryfromportsunl3111 but I don't have the room to store bikes etc and I want to make travel vlogs and not review videos really
Hi Ads, I can Mod for you guys on the 23rd as I had nothing planned 👍👍👍 let me know😎
That'll be great👍. Thanks @JohnnyBurr. See you then
@@HermanHitstheRoad 😊
Great hat! Hope you don't get sanctioned?
What does that mean, @adorable_happycats?
@@HermanHitstheRoad I'm just kidding? Just found you and you have a great show.
@HermanHitstheRoad
P.S. I would like to get one for me because they are very warm for the winter time.
I bought the hat many years ago from Next, @adorable_happycats
