@tv-21 For many people surgery is lifesaving. Many people are so overweight their life is in danger. That's why surgery is a medical option. To say it's "cheating" is ridiculous! It's not a competitive race this is people's lives and health we are talking about. You spreading that message is just disgusting and the reason so many people struggle for years to lose weight on their own and then feel like they failed. ❤ please be more kind. Everyone is DIFFERENT. There's no one path to get healthy

Eating high quality fats keeps insulin levels low, which puts you into a fat burning mode. Higher insulin levels caused by eating sugar and refined carbs and even a lot of protein, puts your body into a fat storage mode . I love your quote “food is either your medicine, or your illness “. You choose. You are such an inspiration, not many people change their lifestyle for more than 15 years. Most slowly go back to their old ways 😊

Thanks for feeling safe enough to be vulnerable with us. I am almost 70 and had gastric sleeve surgery 9 years ago. I have no regrets even though I developed peritonitis a few days after the surgery and ended up back in the hospital for 10 days on IV antibiotics. Since then, I've lost down to 160. Periodically, I will get lazy and regain a bit. I am a total sugar addict and holidays are my hardest challenge. I regained 15 pounds this past year and I'm jumping back on the keto wagon. Thank you for being a mentor for me. Your recipes are easy and taste great.

Sadly men don’t know how much we struggle to lose weight being older. My metabolism has diminished drastically and I’m only peri-menopausal right now. My other half loses 10 lbs in one week snacking on chips and eating what he wants. He doesn’t understand and thinks I’m not trying to lose weight. I’m more physically active with exercise than he is and yet he sheds the lbs off like that. I gain weight even though I’m eating better. I’m very frustrated

When I was 20 , I had lost 100 lbs. I had no loose skin anywhere. That was 1976. I had no idea how to keep it off. Within 10 yrs I gained most of it back. I did lose it again but this time I had saggy skin. I was 30 then, I'm 67 now and still yoyoing. What I've learned in the past 6 months has been mind blowing. Intermittent Fasting, finding you and consistent exercise has made another long weight loss journey more empowering. I am still considering sleeve surgery as I again have 100 lbs to lose and I know skin removal surgery will be a necessity. I did have a point..really. You are a blessing dear. Thank you for sharing your journey. I do believe most of us have 1 or 2 journeys to share ( Or like me 40 years worth). It's nice to have help and to know no one is alone in this fight anymore.

I had RNY gastric bypass back in March of 2018. I went on to lose over 200lbs (my highest weight was 392lbs). It seriously saved my life. It was a last resort and one that I didn't think was even possible. I had no idea that this surgery was covered here in Canada, and because I was struggling with severe mental health issues, I had 4 therapists and a psychiatrist, and one of my therapists used to work at a bariatric clinic in toronto and suggested it to me. I completely broke down and thanked her for literally saving my life. I had so many co-morbidities. My BMI was 63, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, anxiety, depression, agoraphobia etc. Immediately after the surgery, I no longer needed my CPAP machine, was off ALL my medication for high BP etc. I had crazy amount of loose skin, my belly near hit my knees lol. (literally have many videos of it during my weight loss journey here on youtube). I went on to have 2 rounds of skin removal surgery. First one was my Fleur de Lis tummy tuck on June 16 2021 (9lbs of skin removed off my belly... mind you it looked like a LOT more lol. I have photos on my IG of my surgeon literally holding my entire belly that he cut off of me in his hands and you could barely see him behind it lol, was WILD!) Then on May 18th of 2022 I went on to have my second round of plastics and got my arms and thighs done with a revision to the previous tummy tuck as there was still some loose skin left behind. He took 2.2lbs off my arms, another 1.26lbs off my stomach and 4.74lbs off of my thighs for a total of another 8.2lbs of skin removed (he also took 1500 ccs of from lipo because even though the skin was removed from my thighs, my knees were still abnormally large in proportion). I have a LOT of battle scars from this journey, but I wear them all so proudly because without them, I probably wouldn't even be here right now. I really need to update my videos here, all of my skin removal was posted on IG, but I have been busy from finally having my first job and living life now, that I have gotten lazy in uploading here (as I am terrible when it comes to editing lol). But anyways, for anyone who has tried it all, and things feel hopeless and that you will never be able to lose the weight that has been holding you back from living and feeling your best, if you have the means to get weight loss surgery, DO IT. Don't worry about others judging you for taking it "easy way out". There is nothing EASY about trying to save your life. Again, you can just as easy gain it ALL BACK! But the surgery gives you the best head start in boosting success in finally losing it. It is still up to YOU to continue using it as a tool for the rest of your life! Again... best decision EVER... my only regret, is I didnt do it 20 years ago. I am now 48 years old lol and am just now living life for the FIRST time IN my life. I was over 300lbs since I was 17 years old!

I had abdominoplasty and breast lift in 2013 after losing 80 pounds with keto. I was 59 at the time. Best surgery I ever had and I did really well with recovery. I had never had a flat stomach in my life. I do not miss the flapping of that skin that hung down to my upper thighs! I had considered weight loss surgery but I'm really glad I used keto instead, but I am all for it if it's what someone wants to do for themselves.

It got harder but switched to low carb which was better for me. I recently fell off the Keto wagon and my body doesn't feel as good as it did when I was doing Keto. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2011. It was a great decision bc it helped me feel healthier and more self confident. I lost 70lbs. However, I started to regain the weight back in 2016 gradually and now that I’m going through menopause I’m struggling to lose weight again. I’ve been on keto for awhile but I haven’t been consistent. I know that if I do clean keto and exercise at least 3xs a week with intermittent fasting I can lose the weight. I just need to get motivated and set my mind to to do it.

I was considering bariatric surgery, but wanted to see if I could loss the weight on my own before I went that route, because I don't have anyone to help me out during the healing process, and of course the cost of it all. Started my journey July 2023 and have been doing okay. I lost 50 lbs so far by fasting and eating healthier ingredients... plus more protein and veggies. However, I do have my days and sometimes I just have to have that regular chocolate chip cookie, or that Rice A Roni Spanish rice, or I'll just crave these things and possibly binge. Although I don't really keep too many unhealthy things in my home for this very reason. TFS Mayra...you look great and I'm thankful to have found your channel. ❤

This is the comment I was looking for because right now I'm saving and my mom is giving me half of the money for gastric bypass this coming summer but I'm so scared and if I could avoid it I will. I'm used to omad but I just never couple it up with exercise so this time I'm back fasting 20 hours a day but this time I'm trying to Walk 5000 steps a day and then come home and do some RUclips workout. I'm in my 40s and hearing how most women who've had the surgery say it stalls in their 40s....I can't afford to waste all this money but i have to be realistic that in your 40s it's hard to lose weight .
I will give it my all but when the summer comes with no changes I'll have no choice but to go for it... even though as I'm doing research all I'm seeing is people dying during one of these surgeries.

Like you said my mid section just doesn’t really look the way I thought it would. I have the wrinkly saggy skin especially around my belly button and I have the skin pouch at the bottom… and let’s not even talk about how my boobs have completely deflated. Omg Myra so much of what you just said I agree with. Food is medicine 100%. I will say my experience with keto has been really good. My body responds to it really well and it’s helping me heal my body from inflammation caused by my Hashimoto’s hypothyroid and adrenal fatigue. Also, I can attest to the fact that with keto and I really think any lifestyle you need to cook your food, prepare your food, prepping it for the week etc. It needs to be done by you and not, prepackaged with all the preservatives and crap. I noticed in my journey in the very very beginning when I started getting into the “ketofied”foods like quest cookies, meal replacement bars, etc it made me lazy so to speak, and I would have those instead of my own prepared foods and Wow did my results suffer! when I stay clean and eat only food that I have prepared my body feels it’s best and I have my best results. I think a lot of the advancements. We have our great as far as surgeries being able to remove the excess skin and aid in our weight loss but I do think trying a new lifestyle and making those changes first is always better and then have surgery be your last choice. But again everybody’s different and everyone has a different path either way at the end of the day as long as you’re happy and healthy.

Yes, I have to avoid certain foods like grains but that’s a good thing. I take my supplements everyday and get yearly blood tests to make sure everything looks good. You’re one of the reasons I stick with low carb love…
I was 200 kgs I think that’s about 400 pounds roughly in your country.
Yes I’ve had lap band that failed. After a few years I had a gastric sleeve. This happened about 15 years ago. Since then I’ve had a lower and upper body lift. Soooo much money. The best part of $65,000 Australian dollars. I loved my results. Though a couple of years ago I was creeping back into an Aussie size 18.
I was in chronic pain with gaining the weight creeping back on me. I
    I was deprived and sore.
I heard about low carb and keto.
I now follow you and the keto twins. You guys are my religion. I’m now at my lowest weight since I’ve been in primary school. You are an amazing inspiration for me. I love looking forward to your videos and knowledge.

I had a tummy tuck about 12 years ago. My skin hung in a big apron and I got constant infections and irritation due to it. I also had diastases recti which is where my abdominal muscles separated. Mine was due to a twin pregnancy where both babies were about 6 1/2 lbs each. They are 36 years old now! I have definitely struggled with my weight as well and was told to lose 30 lbs before I had the surgery. Keto seems to be the only thing that works for me. It was a very painful surgery. Walking around bent over the first few weeks was really hard on my back. My daughters took turns staying with me because I lived alone. (Mine was more than skin removal because of the separation of my muscles which were tightly stitched back together from just under my bust to my pubis, so that may have been a big part of it). I had to get used to my belly button looking different even though they use your own belly button. The excess skin is pulled down, they cut a new hole and stitch your belly button back on. In the end it was all worth it, and I love my flat stomach!

I know so many people who've had bariactic surgery and they have had disastrous results, such as constant diarrhea,; nicked aorta during the surgery,; gaining every single pound back and more, etc. IMHO I feel like the people who gained all their weight back, simply didn't change their eating habits becayse they wanted the easy way out and you go right back to gaining weight and stretching your stomach back out, etc.

I lost my first 50 pounds on keto. I started at 305. Then, I qualified for bariatric surgery (Bypass). Best decision ever. I was lucky, absolutely no complications. That was in 2019. I’m about 8 pounds over my original goal weight so I’m in maintenance. Keto is definitely keeping me there. I’m faithful in my supplements and hydration. Dehydration and malnutrition is a real thing after bariatric surgery, you don’t have enough tummy left to absorb nutrients and water. I totally get the excess skin. That’s my next thing now that I know I can maintain it. What cracked me up the most is my nutritionist kept trying to move me to a more “traditional” diet and yet, the post surgery diet was….KETO! 😂. A modified version but basically keto. I was already post menopause so I had already dealt with the hormone changes that cause some of us to gain weight. Total weight loss was about 140 pounds.

100% of the people I know that had weightloss surgery gained it all back that was at least 10 people. It became very popular about 10 years ago and it seemed like everyone wanted a quick fix. Only 2 that had skin removal had serious complications and nearly died. Because of what I saw. I decided this was not the route I was going to take. Last year I was able to lose almost 40lbs on my own by Doctors orders. Let me tell you that your videos helped me so much. I will admit that life events and the fact that I fall easily in depression made me gain all back. I have a Doc appt I cannot fail and I will once again follow your recipes to get me back where I was. Thank you so much❤

Thank you for sharing something so personal. Everyone's Journey is special and unique and we all have to find a path that works for us. And not judge. I am 70 yo-yo dieted most of my life mom used to buy me clothes in the chubby section when I was a kid. I joined Weight Watchers at 16 and started losing weight and anytime I lost weight I would then leave and gain it back and more until I had gotten to the point of being 240 lb and a size 22. For years I said I'll start on Monday finally in 2009 after menopause I rejoined WW and after losing half my weight I kept going to the meetings and the program. I have been at goal all these years. It took me about a year and a half to take the weight off and I walk jump on a mini trampoline keep active get my steps in every day and that's what helped tone me because that weight was on my body most of my life so I do have excess skin but I also managed to kind of tone due to activity. My husband always loved me just the way I was such a sweet man and unfortunately I lost him to cancer 5 years ago and I have decided to just be me. My hair is just turning gray and I'm leaving it and honestly I'm 70 and feel 40 most days. Just letting you know how I maneuvered through this I still watch what I eat I'm consistent I love your channel because I get so many wonderful ideas in the foods that I eat even though I'm not Keto but I am vegetarian. And besides... you always make all the foods you make looks sooo yummy!😊
Yours is one of my favorite channels so keep doing what you're doing and again thank you for sharing your story. Sending love and hugs
    .....Linda ❤

    Hi!
My name is Diana and I just want to take a moment and tell you how much I “LOVE!!!!” your videos!
I just turned 63 and have two children ages 42 & 44. Now after I had my children and I only gained 18 lbs. and 25 lbs. with my pregnancies. I also breastfeed both my children and pumped breast milk for premature babies in the hospital where I had my two.
So, 20 years later and dieting and exercising I got to the weight I wanted and still had that little pooch on my stomach and my breasts were very saggy.
I did go to a plastic surgeon and inquired about a breast lift and tummy tuck. The price was about $12,000.00
which I thought was a lot. But I got financing through my plastic surgeon’s office and went ahead.
Let me tell you(and I agree whole heartedly with you) it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! 😁
It gave me so much confidence and when I looked at myself in the mirror I loved was was looking back at me!
I just recently started Keto and absolutely love it!
Also all the knowledge that you have given me through your videos has been amazing. Thank you!!
I loved the video yesterday about the Dollar Tree and all the snacks that were clean.
    Thank-you!, Thank-you!, Thank-you! so very much!
You are truly an inspiration and thanks for always keeping it real. 🎉
    Sincerely,
    Diana 😃

Really appreciate your honesty. Love that you keep it real and judgement free. I'm 66 and slender. I work out (cardio and strength) regularly and am down as much as 40 pounds from my highest weight in my 40s. I've been considering tummy tuck for the loose skin/belly pooch issue, and wondered how long it took you to recover and be able to exercise again. I wish people would share more online about their cosmetic surgery experiences. Still seems kind of taboo despite how common it is. P.S. I had a facelift in my 50s after I was widowed, and it was absolutely the best money I ever spent!

Love your videos...I have been on the AIP lifestyle since 2018 After having my thyroid removed in 2010 due to Graves Disease and struggling with getting my life together..the right medication...I finally in 2018 i found a doctor who explained how food was keeping me sick..anyway... I went from 222 to 185.... I am still struggling to lose at least 20 more, and your videos are inspirational. I did have an arm lift and tummy tuck to remove skin back in 2021. I wear my scars proudly on my arms because I lost my weight through my dedication to my health. So, I am still a work in progress to get to my ideal healthy weight... but the skin removal helped build my confidence. Love finding your recipes that can work for my lifestyle for sure!!!!

Had gastric sleeve surgery a year ago this week. 150lbs gone in less than a year. Best decision of my life. Zero regrets. Hopefully one day I can afford skin removal surgery. Low carb high protein calorie deficit. Keto is way too high fat for my tiny stomach to handle.

@@LowCarbLove yes, you are able to eat more as time goes on, but a year out I’m up to around 4-6oz depending on what I’m eating. A yogurt that’s typically 6oz goes down easier than 6oz of chicken would for example. I needed this restriction… and didn’t want to be on medication to do it. I was eating low carb and pretty healthy prior to surgery, so that made the transition very easy for me compared to some others who jump in and get more of a shock to the system. Still eating healthy, just much higher protein, and small portions.

You go girl! I had AB EX and a bit of laser lipo with Sono Bello last year. Best decision I ever made! I didn't want to have any procedure that would change my stomach surgically to lose weight for many reasons, so I toughed out a very low calorie diet and lost over 50 lbs. I had excess skin, but my flabby tummy remained. Then I thought back in time and realized I have had a chubby stomach most of my adult life no matter what I weighed, 160 lbs or 270 lbs. I have long legs and a short torso, so I thought I have the means $, so I'm going for it! I could care less about the scar, because I have the flat stomach I have always wanted! Even though you don't lose weight with skin removal surgery, you gain confidence by being able to fit into clothes you haven't worn in YEARS! This gave me the motivation to continue losing weight naturally, because I am convinced there is still fat around my organs. I feel better. I am more confident, (so confident I made a career change). I am happier. I don't jiggle when I exercise. I am able to fit in a plane seat better. I am able to enjoy my vacations more. Generally, best thing I could ever do for myself.

Last March I had weight loss surgery so that my “golden years” would be healthier and I could do more things. I’m following a low carb vegetarian diet. It’s hard to get the protein in. I am very happy. I’m down 108# and considering a n arm lift to get rid of the bat wings. I don’t mind my jiggly tummy but my arms are a sensitive area. Bless you Myra!

I went from 215 to 122. I am totally thinking about skin removal. I'm just nervous. I would say try to lose it on your own really give it a go and if your still struggling i would say weightloss surgery but just know it will be a journey afterwards.

I had gastric bypass in 2012. I never really wanted to because I knew I would still have to change my lifestyle. But I was told by my cardiologist I either had to have two heart surgeries or have gastric bypass. I was diabetic then and the surgery cured that which was great. I lost 150 lbs. Then two years later I had a blocked colon and had to undergo two surgeries because of it and it was caused by the gastric bypass surgery. Ever since the surgery I have had terrible digestive issues. Now 12 years later I have become severely anemic and they tell me that is because you digest iron in your colon but because of the gastric bypass I am not absorbing iron even though I have enough in my system. I’ve had two iron infusions but my red blood cell count is not going up. So for me I definitely would not do it again if I could go backs I would have done it through my lifestyle change. I’ve regained 20 lbs this year but have kept the rest off. In my experience you just change one set of health issues for new ones.

IMO, ppl could learn a lot about it by watching some Dr Now videos. U really do need to change your eating habits. The surgery's not a magic bullet. Hey Myra! The only thing I feel like I would like to add is that going to a high veggie, protein diet…your body needs you to incorporate healthy fats for satiety. If you are not consuming avocado, coconut, olive or MCT oil….you will be hungrier and might not be able to fast easily. Following a nutritionist who believes in whole milk dairy (if you tolerate dairy). I jumped back into fasting after not minding my eating for several months, and it took two weeks to get to zero cravings. I fast and average of 19.5ish hours a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less…but shoot for about 100g of protein plus veggies.

I have loose skin, but I had enough surgery - you see, I had open heart surgery 2 years ago to replace my aortic valve. I had a 5mm hole in my aortic valve caused by endocarditis. So, I’m not going under the knife again if I can help it. I have enough PTSD about surgery.
