Since the relationship between the footboard and the beater is not linear (like the Turbo), it's harder to play softer with this type of cam, since you have to figure the ratio of movement between footboard and cam and adjust to that, which is why some higher end pedals (Pearl Demon Drive, DW 9000, Sonor Perfect Balance, etc.) have round cams or allow you to adjust the response of the cam.
Great video and informative. One thing i noticed that will improve your pedal performance is not allowing the beater to strick past 90°. Even just a bit will reduce your power dramatically. Either adjust your bass drum position or the pedal. If u dont care and are happy where it is thats fine but u will definitely notice the difference. Keep jammin bud!!!
Hello, what is better to buy for my son AD4 or TD4 ? My son is playing on rock music like Heart Baracuda, Deep Purple - Burn, Smoke on the water so on. Please let me know.
I find the Accelerator cam a lot snappier. I had a double DW 3002 Turbo/Standard cam but I rarely used the double as it was thrown in on a cymbal and snare purchase. It was fine but I found that a lot of effort was needed to get good snappy doubles and triples. Also, playing fast swing rock beats just seemed to require a lot of foot effort, it felt uncomfortable. Anyway, I sold the 3002 double and bought a 5000 Accelerator single, what a difference. It’s snaps so well, maintains a nice swing through the beater angle and playing fast rock/funk grooves with lots of doubles and triples is so much easier, requiring less effort. I found I really didn’t need to rethink my kick playing or style, the style I enjoy playing just seemed a lot easier and came to life much more. I love jamming along to Clutch and JP Gaster has some great kick grooves so the 5000 Accelerator really fits nicely with that type of groove and feel.
I appreciate it. Those are the exact three models I am looking at. Changing over from my TAMA King Cobra double Bass pedals. Are the accelerator really responsive because those are the ones I am leaning towards getting. Thanks again.

Thanks for sharing. Definitely help me to make a decision.
Bro, I got the dw 5000 accelerator but when I tighten the spring, the tension doesn't change, do you know why? I literally just got these today.
is it even possible to get the double bass you crave without an accelerator?
for metal
awesome explanation
That was very helpful. Thank you for making this.

JP Gaster plays a 9000 single, which he says he leaves as factory default. Not sure what cam option is default though on that pedal.
Is the turbo TD4 good for fast double bass or the Acclerator?
thanks!
Cool vid!
