The coolest part of watching these to me, especially this episode- is guitarists and bassist have their axe, amp, pedals and strings right?! We have our drums, our specific sizes of said drums, head choice top AND bottom, snare wire choice, bass drum beater choice- cymbal choice and size, stick choice- to stands/ hardware, pedals, hi hat stands, muffling or no muffling¿ -it just goes on and on. I mean it's just so cool nerdin' out!
Great interview. I've never heard of Connor or Jarrad or Beartooth. lol. Time to check them out. BTW, I like how Connor says "we" when talking about his setup. Very humble.
I used to play in socks as well. Then I had a really wet sticky gig in the Lower Eastside of New York, and had to play with sopping wet feet. The sound guy cut our set short, because they double booked us and kicked us out, and I couldn't find my shoes, so I ended up on the street in my bare feet. That was the last time I played in socks. LOL
I met him in my country Taiwan when he toured with Being As An Ocean, years later he and his teacher Aaron from Underoath both switch from Truth to Gretsch, that makes me very interested in the brand so I did lots of research on these drums, unfortunately Gretsch is not a popular brand in Taiwan because the dealer here never push the product, what a shame. Anyway great drummer though, inspiring to see his growth! Also a fun story, Connor sweat like a mofo after playing a crazy set, I had a show in the same venue the very next day, as I sat on the velvet top drum throne I immediately noticed my ass is so wet but I only play like 5 mins, so my pants and underwear just absorb all the ass sweat of Connor, lmao, thx Connor! 😂
To be fair, Caleb records all of the instruments on their records. The rest of the guys are pretty much live musicians. However, Caleb seems to treat them as if they're all equal. Always giving all of them props and love.
That room is crazzzy with low end issues. They have made it SO MUCH BETTER than it was years ago. They are crushing it at Marathon now! This is likely more of a result of us looking at the front of house guy 30 seconds before we film and go "hey, can we ALSO GET AUDIO" Shout out to all of the road crew for accommodating us to get these done in 30 minutes during soundcheck!

His dynamics are crazy. So damn smooth
Connor is such a great dude. So good to see him in the spotlight here, and I can't wait to see where drumming takes him in the next 5-10 years!
one of the nicest guys and one the best drummers out there !!
HARD AGREE! ⚡️🦾⚡️
What a great drummer Connor is! I dig his sound so much! Keep rocking CD! Ty for this video 🙏

Welcome to the party. We are around 20 episodes, check em out! Some really great players in some super sick bands!
Conner is such a beast! Love that he’s also a fellow player who plays in socks 😂

I love big drums. 24 kick 18 floor. That’s for me great video
Thanks for watching! ⚡️🤘⚡️
Great playing style, reminds me of Timbo’s playing

Is it me or did the audio go out of sync about 14 minutes in??🤔
Im not catching any sync issues on my end!
@@drumrundown cool. It was weird, only for a few minutes. No matter what I tried. Then back to normal. 🤷🏻♂️. Anyway great vid!!!
@@drumrundownIt’s around 15:20 bc I experienced the same
That’s a bummer that he doesn’t record the drums, it gives me a control freak vibe

Cool guy, cool kit, cool video!
But that must be the thinnest sounding kick I heard in a while...
got dry stems from the front of house, that was set for a notoriously difficult room… We bring you interviews, not Grammys for mixing! LOL
@@drumrundown that was no dig at you, enjoyed the video like the rest of them! It just stood out and maybe he likes it that way, to each their own

Go watch a Beartooth live show and listen to the sound production. This was on the fly.
I thought he was playing a Q 14x7 aluminum snare
Do you remember he use to play Gretsch phosphor bronze snare 6.5?
Beartooth aggressive

A little quicker with that beater foot than he let on. ;)

Am I the only rock drummer who used 5a sticks?! 😂
I use Vic Firth 55a’s which is a nice in between 5a and 5b stick
zildjian 🤮
🤦🏻♂️
I agree. Paiste & Istanbul blow Zildjian and sabian away for my ears.
