Burton did well to avoid such a destructive pointless question. He is a man that takes you to other world's that do not have the same problems as ours. He is an artist not a politician.

I love that zoom when he talks about Nigel Farage, your attempts at spreading lies about Nigel is pathetic to say at least channel 4. The woman and presumably a feminist doing this interview wants women to be taken seriously but she isn't helping the cause at all.

I find it odd how the interviewer changed the topic so rapidly from the film, to politics. But it was interesting to hear Burton's views on the subject in any case. (Wtf was with that odd zoom in on his face though when she asked the feminism question?)

Farage has been constantly misquoted on what he was saying. It is very interesting hearing people regurgitate mis-truths, especially ones who call themselves journalists. The truth is said he personally didn't have a problem with breastfeeding in public, but it is up the establishment the woman is in as to how they view it. For example asking a woman to sit in a corner or using a napkin to maintain modesty.

proof of my 'they just don't get it' hypothesis 'eastern...' says:

***** im all for women having thier glands on show, breastfeeding, whatever. i think if i ran a club it would be pretty seedy, but! i don't presume to enforce my morality on everyone around me, or scream "fascist!" at them when they don't live up to my (very low) standards of morality
nor do i support parties (and thereby be liable in the judicial sense) who throw people in jail at gun point / humiliate them for often (but not limited too) very reasonable opinions which don't conform to an ideology of complete equality

New mothers are encouraged to breastfeed for a minimum of six months, but may find that attitudes to breastfeeding in public, or in the workplace, are censorious and off-putting. Negotiating this minefield requires sensitivity and flexibility.
While as a mother you may feel that you have an absolute right to breastfeed wherever you choose, you will probably find you have an easier time if you are not aggressive about yourrights, and remember that some people (especially the older generation) are uncomfortable about the whole issue. It is possible to breastfeed discreetly, using specially adapted clothing, scarves or shawls to minimise self-exposure. It is also possible to choose locations that are a little out of the public eye.
If a mother has made an effort to breastfeed discreetly, she deserves to be treated with tact and sensitivity. Do not stare, or pass comment, or give her disapproving looks. She has made concessions to you; now you must reciprocate. www.debretts.com/british-etiquette/rites-passage/births/breastfeeding

Typical Channel 4; interviewing a movie director about movies and then throwing in a dumb and obviously leading political question. I'm glad most commenters get it.

I agree I don't think people can make their own opinions anymore rather then have it given to them by media sources or whatever. It's like you only pay atttention to one source of info or its exact opposite and unfortunately people don't have enough self respect to go "well I like this from that but not that from that but I think this would work better". Insted it's just the divide and conquer methos-people are probablyso vulnerable to it from all the msg in their food or whatever

Oh, Jackie Long is just loving this isn't she? You can practically see her salivating over manipulating Burton into saying things he knows he ought to be careful of. I've never been a fan of the man himself ) though I do like his films) but top marks to him for his damage limitation efforts to sidetrack this harpy's agenda.

Agreed ! Tim Burton's view on Feminism today and race relations in America have no place in that interview. Although....it IS a news program so maybe she was just doing her job. I don't know.....I watched it and thought 'gee lady....lets just stick to the film and stop trying to trip him up', but now I'm mellowing slightly.

This is a wasted opportunity. I dislike UKIP, but Tim Burton is one of the least political filmmakers in the English-speaking world. Surely there are more relevant questions to ask him.

Who edits the montages? Zero skill or artistry or even common sense in that opening Burton film compilation. Can't believe people get paid to do botch jobs like this. All the money must be spent on cocaine for the execs.

She's an autocrat and he's afraid of her nastiness. He tries to be PC and say the right things but says nothing really. He's shallow after all and inarticulate to boot.
