I've always found beauty in the gothic/gloomy aesthetic, I never understood why people say it's depressing. Tim Burton movies display this magical beauty so perfectly
They can say anything about Tim Burton that his style and his movies are already in decline, but come on, this great director turned his gothic style and his way of making movies is undoubtedly recognized and today he is the master of the gothic, the macabre and the dark.
His whimsical, dark style is just unparalleled, absolutely stunning. Also side note, but some of the Harry Potter films honestly give me Tim Burton vibes, anyone else?
Yes absolutely but honestly I´m quite happy, that he didn´t direct any of the movies by himself because at the time, the movies were shot, he was already a bit too much in love with his gothic style of filmmaking...
One of the directors who helped define my childhood, especially including Nightmare Before Christmas which he was heavily involved in. Despite a few duds and mediocre entries this century, he's still one of the greats. Thanks for the wonderful vid!
It’s actually not his story. It’s based on a poem he wrote (which varies from the plot of the film, as it was written by Caroline Thompson) and artwork he compiled before his firing from Disney. Henry Selick actually directed the film and came up with the idea to make the world look like the ink sketches of Edward Gorey. The aesthetic of NBC is because of Selick’s direction, with nods to Tim’s drawings and Gorey’s work. Without Selick, the film wouldn’t be what it currently is.
From those first strings of Alice's Theme, I just knew I was gonna love this. An incredible video as per, your choice of clips and editing is impeccable and this is a beautiful presentation of Burton's cinematography that you have created. Thank you.
Imagine someone having never seen a Burton film, didn’t know his style or anything and they watch this video. They think they have a good idea of his tone, very dark and mysterious atmosphere, and then they see 1:41 completely outside of the context
I like Tim Burton, he mastered the art of consistency, you can look at these films and all of them resonate with you, from curves to darkness, to fun shots, it all keeps us hooked on that weird part of it, that’s actually what makes it so special
Hi Robyn I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this complement. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….🌹🌹
I love how he injects stock, bland and controlled environments like factories, suburbia, offices, etc. with wild and off-putting colors and shapes, the contrast between the normal world and the gothic, whimsical and expressive look and tone is why I like Burton films so much.
The only thing I hate about these videos is that they have to end. Hats off to you for making Magic with magic. Not an easy task. But you do it very well.
I am fron India and i am a big fan of tim Burton's work. Alice in Wonderland and Sleepy Hollow is my favorite Tim Burton films. I really loved this video your Clip Selection is awsome.
I love how you decided to present the beautiful vision of director Tim Burton on your channel for the new year! 🥰 After Spielberg, Nolan, Tarantino, Cameron, Fincher and others of note, I wondered how long it would be until you showcased Burton's unique films. But you know what? Saving it for the new year was a nice touch to start off 2023. Love it! 😊❤💯
Love ur video. Tnx 4 adding Alice's theme. Both music and movie are awesome. Id like u to make also videos for the Rings of Power and Don't Worry Darling
My first Burton movie was "Vincent", which would come on HBO in the early-mid 80s. I knew, even then, that Tim Burton would become a legend. His movies have defined my life more than any director, before or since.
It would be great that along with listing the DOP's, if you could also list the films. It would really be super helpful since I watch these videos regularly and alway find myself struggling to understand which movies are in the videos 😔 Is there an intentional reason not to include the names of the films alongside the DOP names?
Ed Wood: 0:13, 1:09, 4:06, 4:39; Sweeney Todd: 0:33, 0:57, 1:17, 3:41; Charlie and the chocolate factory: 0:41, 1:41, 1:53, 4:34; Big Eyes: 0:49, 1:57, 3:13; Corpse Bride: 1:01, 2:10, 3:34, 4:30; Frankenwennie: 1:05, 1:14, 1:49; Batman Returns: 1:20, 1:29, 2:54, 3:18, 4:22, 4:42; Edward Scissorhands: 2:17, 2:45, 3:25; Dark Shadows: 1:45, 2:21, 2:35; Big Fish: 1:38, 3:11, 3:21; Dumbo: 3:45, 4:25; Planet of the Apes: 3:05 Alice in Wonderland: 3:50 Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: 3:30; Bettlejuice: 2:29 Mars Attaks!: 2:31 Batman: 2:33 Pee - wee's Big Adventure: 2:38
Thank you for including Ed Wood that's my favorite Burton film of all time I also will always prefer his 2 Batman movies cause they felt like I was watching a Batman comic come alive
The beauty of Robin Williams" ?
@@TheBeautyOf I understand he didn't direct it, but the film would not have been made without him. So your stipulation to be included in the video is they have to have directed it? Interesting
@@TheBeautyOf it is his film, created it, productid it, wrote the story, wrote lyrics, designed it, casted it, worked with Elfman (Henry didn't do any of those things so it's not his film either,) Henry never worked with Danny which tells it all really considering it was a musical, Biggest impact Henry had was getting Tim to fire Danny from Jacks speaking role (which triggered their falling out)
Is there a list of movies these shots come from? I recognize many, but it looks like I've missed out on some of his movies, as I don't recall seeing some of the scenes.

Burton was a candidate to direct many HP movies but Warner never get him a chance to do it
yeah sometimes i wonder why he didnt get the chance to direct HP movies

He's not heavily involved in nightmare before christmas cus he was making batman that time
He didn't do anything on that movie lmao they just put his name there to help give it recognition

Many childhood feelings😨 broke my mind and made me cry 😭
Absolutely beautiful. What a resume.
What I greatly appreciate about this video is how much attention is given to his lesser appreciated works, such as Ed Wood and Big Eyes.
A fantastic video for an exceptionnal artist !

no one can replace Tim Burton when it comes to create a Fantastical world with subreality and mysticism . He is a genre of his own .

Burton probably has the best aesthetic of any filmmaker.
It’s him or Kubrick.
Courage.
Burton loves The circus 🎪, he has an obsession
I totally forgot that he also did Mars Attacks
