- Oni No Yakata (Mansion of the Oni) is a horror Ao Oni fangame made by ame4kitty (@ame4kitty).
You play as Ayana Hasegawa, an eighteen year old Japanese high school student in the last month of her school career. As one last fun adventure with her friends, they plan a trip to an allegedly haunted mansion on the outskirts of town.

Hi, developer of the game here. Thank you so much for playing. I know it's probably not the best Ao Oni fangame you've played, but it was a fun learning experience to get used to making games in the RPG Maker XP engine again. I'm working on a sequel, which will hopefully be much better than this game. Still, I am mostly proud of how it turned out, and I hope you enjoyed it even a slight amount.
Ah, let me know when the sequel comes out. I'd be interested in seeing how things change and evolve. I haven't played any Ao Oni fangames (besides watching a playthrough of Mura Oni, which isn't a traditional fangame) so I can't compare but this was fun to play, hehe.
@@creepicatfish I'm glad you liked it. If time is permitting, the sequel should be done before July. I've been trying to get a lot done this month and it's a MUCH bigger undertaking than Oni No Yakata because the map is much bigger and there's a lot more to work with, mechanically. Hopefully it'll be a vast improvement over the first game.
Honestly, this did look pretty good! I'm no master game designer either, but no crazy flaws seem to pop up to me anyway. The only thing I'm not too fond of... is the same thing I'm not fond of in all other Ao Oni fangames: the Oni's design itself. I dunno, every time I look at a fangame with these monsters, it always looks more goofy than scary, but I know that's more on the original dev than anyone else. Even so, great job with this game!
@@Mike14264 Aw, thank you! This project is the one I'm least fond of personally. It has its flaws and maybe one day I'll go back and remake the whole thing just so it doesn't have to lay itself on my conscience for eternity. But I'm glad you like it. It's nice that people can like even what I consider my least impressive work

i love the idea that the onis are monsters, but they aren’t THAT evil.
The Greg ending really confused me-
What exactly happened there?
I think it's just a joke ending and alludes to Greg having some semblence of divinity.

You have to download the run time package (RTP) for RPG Maker XP. You can easily find it on the rpgmaker website. If the issue is RGSS102E.dll, I think (not entirely sure) it can also be solved by downloading it online,.
yes that was the issue, i downloeaded in itch and on gamejolt and both of them told me the same error@@creepicatfish
You downloaded the game but did you download and then install the RPG Maker XP RTP too?
