This is one of the best coasters. It's not really scary but the acceleration makes it entertaining.
Still one of the best coasters ever!! 👍👍
Yep
I agree
The special terrain at Kennywood makes these coasters unique. The designers really built to the land. The terrain also presents challenges with expansion though. I really hope parks like Kennywood and Idlewild are able to survive. Generations of history.
Kennywood is fine I'm sure, Idlewild is too far behind imo. They gotta catch up with the times, you can't get away with just flat rides anymore because all that shit is at your local State fair for less money. Kennywood was less thrilling to me this time though, I was observing the structures and landscape while riding their rides instead of enjoying the rides themselves lol. I love how Phantom and Thunderbolt intersect, it's an amazing experience watching the Phantom go below you twice when on Thunderbolt.
@@coments101 Yeah, I don't have a good feeling about Idlewild. Daniel Tiger is the only thing that's holding them up, even then that ride is pretty bad. I think Idlewild needs one really good ride like a family coaster or a new dark ride to keep them afloat.
Best wooden coaster ever
Can’t wait to go on Thunderbolt this year! Thank you Kennywood!
it's been decades since I last road this, but the memory is steal clear! Loved it! I hope to be able to ride it again as I make my 30 trips through the whole state of PA just one more time starting out from Cedar Point and ending my trip with King's Island! My bucket list UNLESS one of them build's a coaster I can't resist riding. Never say never!
Rode thunderbolt on Sunday and have to say it’s running better this year than I remember it running in a long time and has a bit of a kick to it too that surprised me! And that new paint job is fantastic!
smoothest coaster ever made!
It’s far from smoothest, you need a partner and the height restriction got bumped up to 50 because of how rough it is.
Can't wait to come here again
I'm planning on going on both Skyrocket and Thunderbolt for the first time this summer when I visit! Can't wait!
the skyrocket is one of my favorites!! it’s super fun😁
gotta try steel curtain if you havent. absolutely wonderful
you guys should do a mounted pov for all of the rollercoasters 😎
It feels a lot faster than it looks lol
One of the most unique coasters STILL today
The Thunderbolt seems to be very first roller coaster I ever went on
I remember back in the 70s going there as a Young kid and my grandma was the only one that would ride it with us . She was a ship builder during WW 2 up there. She was tough .Good times!
Thanks to the restraint or lack thereof, the lateral forces on this ride are intense in that helix
Rode this thing like 50 times yesterday my favorite ride
Now would be a great time to do an Old Mill ride through to capitalize on the Defunctland video!
starts and ends on the original Pippen .. such a great ride
I remember getting squished so hard going around the fast bend passing the potato patch🤣 those were the days💕
I like the hair tie wall at the end
Will always be my all-time favorite! I prefer wooden coasters.
The Best coaster
I dont know if it was just a bad ride but I went on this with my dad when we visited family in the pittsburgh area. Had such a rough and painful ride I still very much enjoyed the forces of those turns but it gave me a pretty nasty headache
That happened to me and my friend a few times, too. I’ve lost count with how many times I’ve been on this coaster but most times I’m okay. I notice when I try to stiffen my neck so my head doesn’t jerk around, I don’t get the headaches.
Y’all should record a mounted POV of Ghostwood Estate and have people in the carts shooting the targets! Wonder what that would look like. Maybe even a 360 video!
Classic!
I went on this yesterday, and as a follow-up to my question from a year ago:
-I cried for the first 10 seconds of it
-Shook me around
The shaking is all part of the wooden coaster experience. Can't get that on a steel coaster.
I rode this with my aunt who is overweight and I was young and skinny. She damn near killed me on that first bend! lol. She was on the wrong side. I dont know if they changed it yet but the seats are bench seats with no separation between riders so you can slide from one side to the other
This is the most popular roller coaster 🎢
Kennywood's open! 😉
that last hill always gives me a bit of neck pain
me and my friend were really confused why there had to be two people in seat and no single riders and then after we went on it we were like "ooohhhhh that's why"
Why is it I went on it and?
Nice!
A quick question because I go to Kennywood in choir the following Monday:
-How scary is this? I have been on one rollercoaster (Racer) when I was 7 and I cried 💀💀💀
Yeah
Did they cut down a lot of trees in the ravine? It looks so bare compared to a few years ago.
When I was getting into roller coasters in the mid 1970s, "Thunderbolt" was considered the #1 coaster in the world.
Until the Texas Cyclone opened at Astroworld
@@jarretstroud1842 It's a shame what happened to Astroworld.
Thunderbolt broke down midway through when I last rode it years ago, it wasn’t all that sketchy because they got it fixed. Now if you got stuck on Phantom or Sky Rocket, I’d be shitting my pants.
My families legacy RIP Carl and Ann Hughes 🎠🎢🕊️
love the 50 people that sent me here telling me there was no lift hill lol.
Wow
IT MAY HAVE BEEN AROUND APRIL 1968 ? A YOUNG BOY FELL TO HIS DEATH 😓😓🙏🙏🙏
Lucky
Also very rough tho
I had a suspicion that at my house the abnormal amount of carpenter bees was not unique to me. You guys are not far from me and I noticed at least 5 instances in your video here of them. If they like rollercoasters and dont mind the vibration or noise then they wont be deterred at my house.
same with me and i live 4-5 miles away 😬
What happen to the raging rapids
I think just not filled yet; they drain it in the off-season.
@@inlovewithJLT i was there last season and it wasnt open either
@@The_Normie_VIDS Hmm, maybe a Covid concern then, since the virus can be detected in waste water it may also be transmissible on a ride like this.
@@inlovewithJLT nah they wait until after Memorial Day if I recall correctly. I rode it last year, also.
just here to say that I went to kennywood a few days ago and saw dismantled raging rapids carts sitting next to the steel curtain and the ride was completely drained
That looks like the jack rabbit
A classic coaster. I recommend not riding in the last car though. For your neck's sake.
I can picture this as an RMC.... Same layout, Only slightly higher lift hill, a cobra roll for the very last turn. and some great hang time elements for the helix part in the front. Nothing else changes...
Cool video but the dips seem like a kiddie ride with this POV.
I agree. This video doesn't do it justice. Maybe it was an early morning run, but it seems much slower. POV isn't jumpy either so the track looks smoother too.
This looks like a virtual version on the thunder bolt.. the hills definitely aren’t looking right lol
Noice
8 never rode that
Still makes no sense to not allow single riders. It’s not that violent of a ride.
It could run with one passenger per row easily. But the bowl section is notorious for the lateral forces it gives, single riders that don’t prepare for that would likely get injured.
Hiiii
