  • This video didn’t turn out how I wanted it to, I think it was way too long, I tried to shorten it as much as possible, anyways. I wanted to make this video at the request of several people. I figured a Cyan would be the perfect build for this video :) links for parts coming soon.

    Awesome video! I have this host and I’m putting a Osram PL520 in it, I’m also looking forward to doing a 488nm build.

    Man, you're absolutely amazing!! Like this video! It's been a long time that i looking for a tutorial like yours.. i have a body of 501b model and i would love to build myself a laser 2 or 3W on it.. I have no idea / knowledge what drive is needed, what is best and support 2/3W, what's the best module that can be used in the right driver to avood damages... could you please help me? What parts do you suggest and where a can buy them? Im from Brazil, so i'll have to import them. I have a 1.8W blue laser. I appreciate your help. Thanks!!!

      A 1.8A driver from survival laser with a G2 lens should get you 2.2W with the PLTB450B. I actually get my stuff from SurvivalLaser. They have an international website

    What lens did you get for it? Also did the diode burn out? The datasheet for the 488 says the max current is 135mA

    • @04mach1speed
      @04mach1speed  2 года назад

      youre actually right. its not suppose to really be pushed to the 220 i had used, I knew it could be a bad idea but i asked Jordan from LPF if i could use 220 because thats all i had. he said he pushes his to that all the time with no problems. itll for sure shorten the life a little but as long as you dont have it on for more than 30 seconds it should be okay. im just using a boring 3E lens. bad thing is that because im pushing it higher than data sheet, its not 488, its gonna bring the wavelength up a little, probably more like 490-492

    • @ambrosekillpack4841

      eh, it's a relatively low powered laser. Probably not the most urgent need of thermal paste.

    At the end (13:26) you are saying that you are using a buck driver and 2 cells and say that this is not ideal. Could you explain why? I understand that with a boost driver you could use something like a 18650 cell, but why does it make a difference?

    • @unmasktheredrum2887
      @unmasktheredrum2887 10 месяцев назад

      I thinks it cause the diode he’s running doesn’t need the extra 3.7v and can just run off one 18650 at 3.7v vs 2 16340 at 7.4v, however the survival lasers drivers are very good and most of my builds using SL have survived years with 2 16340 cells

    maaan your soldering skill is like not existing. First you must cover tips of wires with tin using resin, after that all you need to do is conect them with soldering iron. Tin is disolving and mixing with copper.

    You didn't build a laser.
    2:06 You already have a pre-built laser.
    What you did is assemble a housing for it and connected a pre-built driver.

    • @04mach1speed
      @04mach1speed  2 года назад +1

      you think I actually dont know that? most people just call it that because its convenient. you shouldnt take things so literal. most people dont have lathes.
