I've dug 3 caves so far as a doomsday bunker. The 2nd Cave was awesome. It was 87 feet long passage way with 2 rooms about 12' x 10' x 7'. I had a stove to keep extremely warm, and also a periscope to see what's going on outside. One time my brother slept in the cave and when he woke up, he tried to get the hatch door opened and for some reason it was not opening. But when he finally opened the hatch door and looked outside. There was snow everywhere and that was why he couldn't get the hatch door opened. But after he got the hatch door opened and saw the snow, he decided to stay in the cave and keep warm by the stove. I had ventilation pipes everywhere so it was safe. I used 1' diameter logs going one way for the roof, and going 90 degrees from the logs were 4" trees, then I had sheet metal and then plastic and finally 1' of dirt covering all of it. I discovered that water would travel through the ground when it rains so among the 87 feet cave, I had two escape routes which were drain corridors. I was really cool and nobody above can hear the music playing until the Hatch door was opened and then they could hear a party going on dropped out of society. But then one day the owner of the several acres of forest, decided to tear the forest down to install houses. Well in the process, they tore the cave system up.

Build the bunker just underneath the house. You can even have a staircase down from the house into the bunker. Oh wait isn't that a thing already? What's it called again? Mazebend?

@@stjepansekulic9142 Actually, probably starting with countless longer segments, he set start and end points for each. Based of course, on his desired 'on screen' time at the accelerated speed he knew he would choose, then...... keeping track, chronologically of what actually happen in what order he composed a string that went very well with the music style and duration. Other than that having to be done before 'he just put up the last 2 videos and sped it up' no big deal.
That seems like a tremendous amount of work for something that isn't necessarily useful. It may not be the most useful thing ever, but the cool factor is off the charts. This cat has some skills and an awesome attitude.
Didn't Colin once say if he ever decides to sell, the buyer wont be buying a house with a bunker attached, they will be buying a bunker with a house attached.
Colin is just living every blokes dream! Has a shed he goes in out the way of everyone and just tinkers on with random stuff and now he’s digging a huge tunnel. What a legend.
Maybe it is a cultural thing, but going underground is probably counterevolutionary: we worked very hard as a species to avoid going underground and enjoy the fresh air. Personally I do not find going underground attractive at all: even in a dry country and with ventilation, the place will feel humid and stuffy very quickly. Also, rainwater tends to go downwards and it will eventually get you.
By the time they ask about it, the tunnel will already have connected to their house without them noticing

Thanks for this amazing series. You're giving me all kinds of marvelous ideas, since I live in a part of the US where I can do a project like this and not have to worry about getting permission from any governmental bodies. I am especially appreciative that you go through the process of showing how to do this safely.
Started off as a plumber and tinkerer/hobbyist, now he's literally tunnelling with the only health and safety apparatus being the winches to reduce manual handling. Colin is like Fred Dibnah reborn!
Plot twist: Colin is UK's largest cartel kingpin and as such is afforded special luxuries in his overly enlarged cell. This is him actually escaping prison.
I live in a historic mining town that still has an old underground mine from the candle, canary, pick and shovel days, preserved as a historical tourist and educational site. I seriously appreciate what you're going through in digging this tunnel out more than most people would understand. Your canary joke made me laugh so loud I woke everyone in the house up. Oops!
I think if he was to sell it he’d have to sell the Underground bunker WITH a house. You’d think it’s the other way around but I’ve seen a couple comments saying that he by law has to mention it. But it would be interesting to see future owners finding his tunnels
Word of advice......GET RID OF THOSE PLASTIC BUCKETS......if one or both of those handles breaks under load, you're gonna be wearing all that rock on your head......use reinforced canvas buckets or metal buckets to hold your spoils 😉 and you can drill holes in those large rocks in the floor and use DEXSPAN to split them apart (NON-explosive demolition compound - you mix with water and pour in the holes and wait....it expands and cracks the rock)
Colin: "We've gotta do this in absolute silence so nobody will know" The neighbors: "Colin has been unusually quiet lately... Too quiet... I wonder what is going on over there!?"

Is anyone else extremely impressed by the strength of those totes he's hauling rock in?
Just assuming the tube are not from walmart or china.
Honestly that was the most dangerous part, those totes being lifted with heavy rock could of easily broke and fallen
They work perfectly up it’ll the point that they don’t 😅😅
@@ajpgaming7660 I was relieved when he showed lifting them with him under hit reinforcements instead of just under the tub w/o a hard hat
Yeah, me.
My mum has two of those and and both have one handle broken.
They were only ever used for normal gardening waste
Now you can imagine how prisoners dig with silly things. Colin has everything and it's a challenge.
Prisoners dig with desperation.
It took Andy twenty years.
Those buckets are the real hero’s of this video! How haven’t those handles snapped yet but my bucket handle snaps with a little bit of sand in it!
It's the double handle with the double hooks, it's great
I feel like the bin company is the real sponsor that will be revealed at the end, once we are all begging to know the brand. Lol
True, might be especially made for this job.

I've always loved to work hard, I think it's fantastic to force yourself to do extremely challenging projects that really test your tolerance for adversity. Colin has taken this idea to another level, my arms are like noodles just watching him bucket after bucket. He is a man I'd be honored to work with. Great content, love the channel.
I like how this man is replicating all little boy's dreams. Like a freaking bunker in the back yard and a series of tunnels connecting everything. He is like Phineas and Ferb for god's sake.

For the next house, build the bunker first.

I have been following you for years and your work is always the cleanest most exquisite. Just really awesome. I like how this video is extreme practicality, if there is such a concept you might have just made it a thing.
The editing starting at :38 is nuts. Any channel creator that has ever cut and posted a video should tip their hats to you Colin. Well done sir.
I mean, he just put last two videos and sped it up
@@stjepansekulic9142 Actually, probably starting with countless longer segments, he set start and end points for each.

Whoever buys Colin’s house is so damn lucky!
whoever buys the house isn't buying it for the house anymore though

Colin is just living every blokes dream! Has a shed he goes in out the way of everyone and just tinkers on with random stuff and now he’s digging a huge tunnel. What a legend.
Maybe it is a cultural thing, but going underground is probably counterevolutionary: we worked very hard as a species to avoid going underground and enjoy the fresh air. Personally I do not find going underground attractive at all: even in a dry country and with ventilation, the place will feel humid and stuffy very quickly. Also, rainwater tends to go downwards and it will eventually get you.

Tip: You can dig to Y11 to have a higher chance of finding diamonds, just make sure to never dig straight down.
Y14 is optimal, stand astride a 2-block boundary and you'll never fall down. (I knew this would come in useful some day!)
you can dig straight down, just do it 1x2

I'd have thought the skips full of rubble being taken every few days would have given them a bit of a clue!
Thanks for this amazing series.
You're giving me all kinds of marvelous ideas, since I live in a part of the US where I can do a project like this and not have to worry about getting permission from any governmental bodies.
I am especially appreciative that you go through the process of showing how to do this safely.

That what makes it fun! Have you seen people recording themselves digging out of prison to escape? The answer is infinitely close to no.
Oops!

I have never met someone so smart, entertaining and watch worthy than you and I mean that with the most serious manner.
Word of advice......GET RID OF THOSE PLASTIC BUCKETS......if one or both of those handles breaks under load, you're gonna be wearing all that rock on your head......use reinforced canvas buckets or metal buckets to hold your spoils 😉 and you can drill holes in those large rocks in the floor and use DEXSPAN to split them apart (NON-explosive demolition compound - you mix with water and pour in the holes and wait....it expands and cracks the rock)
boooooring we want explosives
Yeah I have some of those myself, and 3 out 4 have handles that broke
If only he'd released these as he was going, I suspect the tunnel is already complete!
You guys act like he's currently doing this not have been done for months and this is just slowly edited and released.
If it fails, the priority is that it collapses in complete silence.
not without taking some of the surrounding property with it.... that won't be so completely silent.
what impresses me the most is the strength of them bucket handles !

Colin: "We've gotta do this in absolute silence so nobody will know"
